A Question is a Place of Embarkation.
Insights From a Deeper Song
Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!
When a question arises it is an invitation to go exploring. It is a beginning place, a place of embarkation. A question is not abut being stuck, it is about looking for new opportunities. And from that exploration evolves a new direction.
As we sit here watching our lives shift dramatically, it is not about the question “Why is this happening”, the question we are to ask is “What are my new choices?” The question is a place of embarkation. It directs my exploration. It becomes my compass.
What does a life look like with all solar driven cars? How does our life expand when we can get on Zoom with people all over the world for free. New friends, new cultures, new experiences, new awareness.
Artificial Intelligence will eliminate some current jobs and create some challenging new ones.
How can I do this differently? What are m choices? Do I want to do this or that? Ask a question, explore a bit, and learn to listen to your inner guidance.
I had done 50 podcasts when I stopped four years ago. I don’t remember why I stopped but a few months ago that platform called to me again. I listened to my inner voice and went exploring to regain the skill set I had put aside. I have now immersed myself in podcasts rather than posts. Sometimes change comes when you are ready and sometimes it comes when you least expect it But we must stay open to the nudges and opportunities the Unseen World gives us. Listen to your inner voice. And explore the doors that keep opening.
Nudes and circumstances are strong guides. Recently I started listening to classical music again – an “accidental” nudge prompted me to turn on that kind of music and I remembered how much I love it. The shifting wold has led me to start exploring astrology more deeply to try to interpret the overarching shifts – so I can understand and anticipate and help others do the same.
When you hit a place where you seem surrounded by questions, understand that is a door opening, a door to look through and maybe go in to explore a bit. Check it out. See how it feels. See if it is something you want to explore further. See how it would fit into your life. Then take action – or not.
I have some empty paces in my life right now and I’m looking around at what I want to bring in and how far in I want it to be. I examine my life to see what is missing and what areas are over-full. I begin to identify my need. Then I go exploring. When I find something that calls to me I try it on for size, I look at its potential. I may choose it. I may resist it or I may explore it further. Keep exploring and be willing to change.
How do you want to fill your life? What new things do you want to explore? And what things are you ready to leave behind?
Those are a lot of questions. Let them help you define what you bring into your life next.
Ask a question and let it become your starting place for exploration.
DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION
I see my questions as guides for my next exploration.
DEEPER SONG PROCESS
- Take a few days and look carefully at what is nurturing you and what is boring you and what is no longer serving you.
- Spend some quiet time to go within to let your inner voice give you some suggestions.
- What do you want? What do you need? What is showing up?
- Let those questions lead you to new explorations. Then make choices that enhance your life.

MY DEEPER SONG THIS WEEK
The Power of Your Still Point
The still point is the entry to the Great nothingness, the Unseen World. The still point is where you experience yourself as a field of energy. it is when your body disappears and ultimately your mind disappears and you become a point of light, you are a pinpoint of energy in the Great All That Is.
It is from that place of stillness, that place of nothingness, that you begin to explore the World Within. The point of Stillness is a doorway, the open to a portal. An entry to the Unseen World.
Cara Lumen, spiritual philosopher and founder of the Deeper Song Community is a cosmic explorer who consciously travels into the unseen world to serve as a bridge to help us expand our relationship with the spiritual world. She shares what she learns and guides us to the next level so we can sing a deeper song.

Inner Work
OPEN YOUR GIFTS
One thing about being old, I sure can see how my gifts played out. How I was organically drawn to them all along my path, how I kept developing them until I have several well-developed gifts that I use to explore the Unseen World and share what I uncover there.
I paused to see if there was a gift I was overlooking. I was in my 40 ’s when I realized that being able to see the overview is a gift. That doesn’t make me one for details, but I sure can organize.
I’m making a gradual turn in my path, I have no idea to where. I just sense a subtle redirection. So I paused to look for a neglected gift, something I used to do or love to or that I have left by the wayside.
Music is coming up for me. I have sung in quartets and choirs and choruses along the line. I am writing songs with my flues and I have begun to welcome back the classical and the New Age music I love.
What do you want to explore that you have been putting off? What do you want to learn more about?
A book I read 40 years ago is calling to me. It is probably time to read Stephen Mitchel’s translation of the Tao Te Chin for the fifth time. I want to go deeper and add those lessons more creatively to my life.
It’s interesting what we leave behind. My love of learning has taken me on many adventures. I don’t always apply what I learn for a particularly long period of time, but I do love to learn.
As I sit here in this unfolding world, I am repositioning myself more deeply in the Unseen World. But I want to be a good translator for our body lives. For me, for you. And I sure do love the exploring part.
What gifts have you been neglecting? Is it time to get them out and polish them up?

Outer Work
THE FLOW OF YOUR HOME
In the Asian art of Feng Shui the words “feng” and “shui” mean “wind” and “water.” Look at the arrangements in your home and imagine how these two elements would move through your space. Wind and water are flowing energy. Does your home reflect that?
My home is like a meandering stream with many boulders that turn the meandering flow of energy into a soft gentle flow with plenty of places to stop and explore. But I have to watch that what is there does not turn into barriers that obstruct the flow of my life.
How do you want to feel in your home? I love all my rocks and crystals but there sure are a lot of them. I could spend time to reposition those. As I add new projects things build up. Some spaces are too full of items for them to be appreciated. I sure could organize some odd blockages that have organically appeared.
Make it easier to use a space. I reran my kitchen countertops and the tasks I do there have become easier. Rearrange your closets and drawers – get real about what you need and what you could pass forward. Pay attention to the energy flow of your space.
I had a powerful experience when I simplified my altar above my desk. I would like to go through and rethink and repurpose some other areas in my home. My mediation chair looks out the window and has its back to the room but I face nature when I sit in it. What do need in the space and what do you NOT need in it? Arrange it with its purpose in mind. Once you rearrange an area stop and feel the difference in the flow of energy. Move something slightly to see if it makes a difference. Ad something. Take something out. Play with the energy you are creating. You are to tune in energetically to the space you are creating and experiment until you find the flow that most nurtures you. Add one thing at a time and feel the shift in energy before you add another.
Water and wind. How do they flow through your space?

SING OUTLOUD!
Jt surprised me. I was unexpectedly sitting here singing to my self. Out loud. It was pretty sounding. It was unexpected and it felt great.
When was the last time you sang out loud? Music is incredibly upliftings. Hum a lot. Make up words if it calls to you. I’m making up songs on my flutes but humming out loud is different, it engages my whole body with a happy vibration.
Sing a happy song to yourself and see how you feel!

OUR EVOLVING FUTURE
December 21 is the Winter solstice and a huge astrological shift takes place. It is said to the true beginning of the Age of Aquarius. Aquarius loves to connect people and ideas.
But here’s the metaphor that intrigues me. Instead of building this new whatever it is from the top down, it will evolve like a spider web.
“A spider’s web develops organically and takes into account its environment. The spider starts with small spreads, it seeks opportunities and finds the most natural way to move forward. The result? An organic, flexible, yet durable structure.’ (Astro-butterfly)
This was pointed out by a shaman: “Spider has a powerful message. She Only using material from within to build her world !!!!!!”
These are powerful insights for me. How I will live my life. How I will help as we restructure our changing world. I will use my resources within and build organically on what shows upon my life.
What a great way to live!

CEREMONIES AND RITUAL FOR A NEW CYCLE
I wanted to honor my birthday this week, this new cycle that is beginning. I wanted to offer gratitude and I wanted to set some intentions. And I simply wanted to celebrate my life!
I’m making up songs about my gifts and interpreting and playing them on m flute. There are words which I can’t sing when I’m playing but the words are being sung in my mind.
I want to add more mindful pauses of deep breaths to pull me back into my inner awareness throughout my day. I began to practice that.
I blessed the year to come, whoever it unfolds. I set some over-arching intonations like strengthen my body and being open to the path that is unfolding.
I looked at what I would let go of. Reluctance – to exercise, to do consistent housework. I even found new ways to give myself acknowledgment and encouragement.
Listen to more music. Learn some chants. Walk the hall each day. Sit outside and play my flute on nice days. Find more ways to learn through listening. I have some exploring to do.
A new cycle. I bring some things forward and leave some things behind. That’s how cycles work.

A DEEPER SONG
A poem is a spider web
Spun with words of wonder,
Woven lace held in place
By whispers made of thunder.
