Are You A Transformational Leader?
Living Our Deeper Song
If you are reading this, you are a transformational leader whether you know what to do with that concept or not. So what does that look like? What does it feel like? What is your specific role as a transformational leader?
A transformational leader thinks in terms of unity, we are concerned with humanity as a whole. We are concerned with caring for the planet. And we are aware of each of us as strong, powerful, necessary strands in the Web Of Life.
Sometimes we are instrumental in transforming the life of one other person. Sometimes we participate in or even lead a movement for change in our community or our country. Whatever we do we contribute to change. We help positive concepts become greater than they were, more meaningful, more impactful. We help things transform.
Sometimes transformation only needs a few fresh insights. If I make this small change, how will I impact a larger group? If I expand my thinking and my participation, I can impact the world.
When you begin to see your role as that of a transformational leader, your life takes on a deeper meaning and you become more aware of your impact and the reach of your participation.
I invite you to expand your thinking, to see yourself as a transformational leader who has a responsibility to this planet and its population and see yourself in a unique position to help transform our world. Once you start looking, you will find many avenues in which to express your desire and ability to help transform our world.
What that looks like may surprise you. You may suddenly become aware of how your smallest interactions helped transform the lives of others. You may be called into action to help move large blocks of society. And your calling may be something in between.
The point is to see yourself as a transformational leader and begin to define what that looks like and feels like for you.
I explore esoteric ideas that call to me and share what I discover. As I read and study and interact, I come across concepts that I want to apply to my life. I turn and write my interpretation for this newsletter in order to figure out how to apply them. I’m writing this because I have the phrase “transformational leaders” in my mission statement and realize that it would be helpful for me to define that more clearly.

===DEEPER SONG LIVING ===
Stay Steady In The Light
I only know one thing to do – stay steady in the light. As the world becomes more and more chaotic and violent, I work to hold steady in the light – to see all as one energy, to find that place in my mind and experience where we are all one. It’s sometimes very hard to do.
Our collective consciousness has great power. People are gathered in person and online for world healing days. I will join them energetically.
I work with the world on my altar every day. As I watch the news, I send energy for compassion and clarity for the lessons to be learned and absorbed so we expand our consciousness and our collective impact. But most of all, I work on the premise that focusing on what I have control over makes a difference. I have to trust that what I do, combined with what we each do, is enough to raise the collective vibration of mankind and place it in loving wholeness.
But first I have to imagine it… I have to believe it is possible. I’m working on that. How do you stay steady in the light?
What Seeds Do You Want To Plant This Year?
In order to grow a good crop, we have to plant seeds. Then we have to nurture those seeds until they grow into mature, useful plants.
An idea is like that. We have to plant it, establish it and nurture it so we can harvest it.
I am nurturing my creative crop by coloring mandalas and creating wall art for my door.
I am nurturing my physical crop by challenging myself to walk further each day and moving to music each afternoon.
I am nurturing my spiritual life through art and study and deepening my spiritual practice by playing to nature with my pan flute.
I am nurturing my place of service through my Power Of Three practice and my daily work at my altar.
What seeds do you want to plant this year?
Step Outside The Comfort Of Your Beliefs
It is taking me some time to trust my belief that the energy work we do as a collective will change the pattern of the world.
There’s so much evil in the world that it feels impossible for people to change the world simply by their intention and focus and thoughts. But it is the option within my reach. And it does work.
Everything is conscious. We must work with our raised consciousness to visualize a peaceful world in which those thoughts manifest. Our imagination creates our reality. Our job as Light Workers is to focus on peaceful cohabitation. We have to use our imagination and may even stretch it a bit to imagine planetary peace but that is what we are to do.
I have to create a sense of a serene planet that humans are not polluting and destroying. I dwell in that image, feel how it feels and see what it produces.
I see solar panels and cars that are kind to the environment and replace fossil fuel. I see our leaders joining hands and organizing our cooperative and supportive existence. I see all races joining hearts. If we can imagine it, it will happen.
If visioning the world into serenity and peaceful coexistence seems hard for you, begin where you can.
Our imagination creates our reality and our imagination is ours to encourage and develop. You may have to step outside the comfort of your beliefs but together we can bring the world into a place of serenity and mutual love.
Paths To Explore
I’ve added a new category to my journal – Paths To Explore. I’m not sure where that will lead me – which is actually the point.
For starters I’m reading a book that is presenting ideas that I have never explored before but I’m not sure I want to go further in that direction.
How do you decide what to learn next?
I’m getting better at playing my pan flute but that is a replacement for my arthritic fingers messing with my nature flute playing.
I read David Gibson’s extensive book The Complete Guide to Sound Healing but I would benefit from establishing my personal healing practice.
I have never colored a mandala before but I will this week and will see how I use it in my meditation practice.
I painted on glass but it does not make a good a sun catcher as I had hoped. It is in a frame on my altar and it is an image I need to see and contemplate.
I have no grand plans for the coming year. Perhaps to not worry so much about politics and the threat to our democracy. For certain I will examine and deepen my energy work to heal the planet. I don’t know what form that will take but the Universe does and it will show me. I continue to be surprised at the small but impactful ways I contribute – by my enthusiasm, my exploration and my sharing through writing.
What new paths are calling you and where will you go exploring?
All Of Our Experiences Are Self-Created
As you pause to look back over your life, remember that all of our experiences are self-created. It is our soul’s choice to get a particular lesson or have a particular experience. Life is about learning and growing our soul.
Because I am old, I have a lot of life to look back over. My major choices have been a tad dramatic and have induced three cross-country moves that led me to new spiritual experiences. Even this time in long-term care is providing new opportunities for my spiritual expansion. My soul seems to have taken some giant steps to get the experiences it wanted to have.
Whether it is a good experience or a not-so-good experience, it is an experience or lesson that your soul wants to have. Trust it. All of our experiences are self-created for the lessons they bring.
What Do You Want To Learn Next?
I’m still deep into David Gibsons book Our Eternal Existence: A Metaphysical Perspective of Reality. It is full of ideas I have never explored this deeply before. I should probably read it a second time in order to absorb its ideas more thoroughly. The concepts are very deeply researched.
I seem to be taking a new creative path – painting on glass and coloring mandalas. It feels good not to think so much. Maybe this is the change of focus I need to change my rhythm, to slow down my mental activity and let the creative move to the forefront. How do you slow down long enough for your rhythm to change?
Exploring is fun. Learning new things is rewarding. What do you want to learn next?
Too Much Information
Do you seem to get bogged down by details – so much so that you get discouraged and cease to move forward? I feel that way about the news – a war that seems to have no solution, US politics which are unbelievable scary. But we get what we focus on. We get what we believe is possible. We must not get mired down in detail. We must use our imagination to create a serene home and loving planet. Filter the news. Examine and contemplate what you believe is possible and together we can heal the world.
Flow Like Water
Water is flexible and fluid. It gently fills the space. When it reaches a barrier, it builds up its strength until it flows over the barrier or through it. It gathers its strength to create streams and rivers and waterfalls and oceans that increase its power and impact.
Your life is like water. It can be flexible and fluid. There is always a way through or around or over. Even a small trickle can work its way forward. Be flexible in your life. Be fluid in your choices. Adapt to your environment and your life will flow steadily forward.
What Do I Need To Throw Away?
A new year is a new beginning – right? So what do I need to toss, tear up or throw away to make room for what the new year will bring?
Because of my eyesight I have to copy the emails from my friends into another document to make the font bigger. That means I have good-sized files of old emails that should be cleared out. Some of them I do want to keep because they are kind words from readers. But I have some file cleaning to do.
What are you starting to bring forward in the new year that could be released?
The Ritual Of Journaling
Journaling is a lovely, introspective way to listen to the wisdom of your inner voice. It is a powerful, insightful time for reflection and a time for planning.
I pause to journal my insights, my realizations, my options and in so doing I explore the possibilities and potential paths. It helps me set my course and see my progress. It gives me an opportunity to think through potential decisions and possible outcomes. It also creates a time for me to reflect on what I accomplished and what I want to achieve next. It is a time of acknowledgment and planning.
My friend Chris Brogan has powerful insights on journaling on his LinkedIn newsletter, where he shares his journaling method for 2024. He has both personal and business reasons for journaling.
I only have one journal because I am no longer in business, but I like the idea of separating the purpose of a journal. I don’t want to list little steps. I want to notice the thoughtful changes I make or the insights I will create in a section I call “How I Made A Difference” and “Paths To Explore” and see was that helps me uncover. I don’t like to dwell on what is not working but I could have a category called “Improved”. That way I can keep focusing on the positive. I periodically add to my Accomplishment list.
What is your ritual of journaling and how will you strengthen it?
A Suspension Of Time
It was a magical hour. I played classical music and colored a mandala. There was no sense of time. There was just being present – fully in the moment with the easy task of simply coloring.
A mandala is a design and coloring it is very absorbing. You can shade the elements and choose the colors and add to the design. Because of my eyes, I need the large print designs. I was given colored pencils to use but I think a more fluid medium would be better – colored pens for instance. There is a lot of shading you can do and that requires blending colors.
The process of coloring a mandala is very centering and relaxing. I lost all track of time. It was a lovely experience.

I Found An Unexpected Way To Contribute
I enjoyed the arts and craft session and got to paint on glass. They have a coloring and music session scheduled and I said I would come if I could have a mandala to color. There will be a lot of people there who have never heard of a mandala. I will ask to have mine laminated and will use it as a meditation tool, then I will do another one to put on the door of my room.
The next day I discovered that there is a care partner who was helping me who did wall art and I let Patricia, the arts and crafts person, know. We never know how the little ways we are in service will have a ripple effect and ultimately make a big difference. What ideas did you share today and what kind of a ripple did they make?

A Ripple In The World
It was a small act but it made a ripple.
It was a small act but it made a ripple. That ripple touched the heart of another who turned and sent her ripple out into the world.
It was a small act but it made a ripple. That ripple touched the heart of another who turned and sent her ripple out into the world. Together we have made a wave.
