Are You Flunking Compassion?

July 8, 2023 By Cara Lumen

Are You Flunking Compassion?

Living Our Deeper Song

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
 The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

I am truly lacking the ability to extend comparison to those I disagree with and it was a shock to realize that I was doing exactly what I was accusing them of doing. I am watching a specific group of people in the US spew hatred for any of their fellow humans who differ from their beliefs and their race. For this group of active haters that pretty much includes the whole world – anyone and everyone who does not think and look like and believe like they do.

To my deep consternation, I realized that I was judging them for not loving thy neighbor as thyself which is a pretty fundamental concept for these conservative Christians. To my dismay, I realized that I was holding them separate – that I was judging them – not with hatred, but with strong criticism, disbelief and a fair degree of anger. I have my own work to do.

What we sow, so shall we reap. I’m watching that segment of our country spew hatred. Hatred against other races. Opposition against the rights of those who are different. It is active, violent hatred and it’s making me so concerned and judgmental that although I don’t hate them, I don’t understand them and am very critical of them. And that’s not good for me or my spiritual growth.

Where is compassion? Where is unconditional love? Where is inclusiveness?  Not just in them, but also in me.

I am having a very hard time feeling compassion for those who are so filled with hatred of others. I don’t even know where to begin to hold them in my heart when I’m being judgmental and critical and angry. None of what I feel affects them. It only affects me.

Christianity is not the oldest religion. Hinduism has been called the oldest religion in the world. The great majority of religious followers fall under twelve classical religions–Baha’i, Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Shinto, Sikhism, Taoism, and Zoroastrianism. We live in a diversified world of multiple religions.

There’s no point in trying to understand this religious-based hatred because I can’t. If in fact my approach to life is to try to see us all as One Light, at this point in time I seem to have a great deal of personal work to do.

I only know how to work energetically. To try to be the most positive, kindest, compassionate person I can be. And I’m already flunking because I cannot hold much compassion for that group of people who are trying to put out the Light of others. I don’t understand their “why”.

Our planet is filled with one group trying to suppress another. All of them are men suppressing women as they seek and seize more power.

I Create a Transformative Energy Shield for Protection around myself that helps me modify my own negative thoughts and protects me from the negative thoughts in the world. But that’s not inclusion, that’s not embracing everyone in my own heart. I seem to be flunking compassion for those I disagree with. And I don’t know what to do about it because I’m a little scared and I’m very much in disbelief about the prevalence of so many negative ideas around the rights of others to be fully who they are.

To be the Light Worker I want to be, I have to find a way to open my heart and be compassionate for those I see as threatening our entire democracy. I don’t know how to do that. And I don’t know if I can do that.  I’m in disbelief and I don’t even want to try to embrace them in light. But that’s exactly what they are doing. Oh, the hard lessons we have to learn.

How do we open our hearts to embrace those who are spewing hatred? I don’t have an answer for that. Only one huge gigantic question mark.

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

I work to extend my compassion to those with whom I totally disagree.

DEEPER SONG PROCESS

  • This is such a huge challenge for me I don’t even know where to begin. I can’t start with compassion for those who are spewing hatred because I don’t have it in me – yet. My tendency is to visualize a unified world in which we each recognize ourselves as Light Beings and we each strive to express that light in what we say and think and do.
  • I know that people are beginning to congregate in smaller community groups so they can experience mutual support. I can visualize those heartfelt groups as palpitating hearts of love and inclusion on our planet. I can visualize myself as a member of one of those groups. I can feel myself expressing compassion for those who are also kind and loving. But there it stops. I cannot bring myself yet to hold in my heart those who spew hated.
  • All I know to do is try to keep loving myself and as many others as I can. It looks like we all may need to work on this one.

===INNER WORK===

Deepen Your Inner Awareness

Trust The Universe To Develop The Plan

The universe has capabilities we cannot even imagine. We have to learn to trust and draw from the depth of creative possibilities within the Universal Mind.

We need to learn to listen. We need to ask the right questions and we need to learn to interpret the answers we get.

For instance, consider the environment. The universe has giving us ideas like wind power and solar power and yet there is still active work as caretaker humans that we must continue to do.

We continue to be given new tools like 3-D printing which is being used to build homes for the homeless and Artificial Intelligence that we must learn to use with care.

We can go to outer space. New experiences and insights and possibilities await us there. It is the opening of a new door that we must explore and learn from and adapt to.

Our role is to be observant, to explore new opportunities and figure out how to apply them for the highest good.

Our job is to pay attention. To explore. To consider. To adapt. To bring into being.

Be inquisitive. Be flexible. Be intuitive and trust the universe to bring us the insights we need for our next steps.

Is It Time To Change Directions?

Look at your life right now and see if you are where you want to be or if you are headed in the direction you want to go. Take a couple of weeks to look at the various aspects of your life and notice which ones are nurturing and which ones are not.

Are you so immersed in your job that you don’t have time for personal growth, for self-nourishment? What needs to change and how are you changing it?

I changed direction because I moved into a new living situation and a new place of service open up.

If you’re going to retire, you have another thirty years of living to do. How do you want to make your life active and productive and interesting? Sometimes you have to explore a multitude of opportunities and sometimes all you can do is hold steady, explore your options and make yourself ready for another challenge.

There are many reasons to consider a change in directions. Find what stimulates and motivates you, get creative and move forward.

===SELF-HEALING===

Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself

Give Yourself A Healing Hug

When was the last time you were hugged? I can’t remember. I have begun to give myself hugs. I cross my arms in an embrace and say, “I love you, you’re doing well. I like the direction you’re going.” I let it seep in until I feel the love and acknowledgement.

I am not a hugger, and it is also not appropriate under some circumstances. What better thing to learn and practice than to hug yourself? And then do it on a regular basis.

Where will you place a gentle hug of yourself and a soft “I love you” into your day?

===OUTER  WORK===

Explore New Potential and Possibilities

How Do You Handle Change?

Do you welcome change as a new opportunity or are you overwhelmed because it asks you to do things differently?

Change can open up new opportunities. It can be fun, it can be challenging, it can be informative and it can be scary but in the long run change is inevitable whether it be large or small.

Stay flexible. Change is on ongoing. Ask yourself to expand your expectations.

Look for the overarching theme of the proffered change to see what alternate path it is suggesting so you can make course corrections if you choose.

What do you need to learn about what this proffered change offers? How do you have to change to absorb and accommodate it? What do you need to learn and how do you need to change your thinking in order to make this change? Is this change for you now, or later or at all? Gather insights from those around who have made a similar change. How did they handle it? What did they gain from it?

Change is not about making a hard decision, it is about a persistent exploration that leads to a gradual deepening awareness and new insights of how to continue living your life. Change is an integral part of life.  How do you handle change?

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness

How To Bring Healing To Your Challenges And Conflicts

The first thing we have to remember is that we are all One Energy. Because we are One Energy, we actually do not have challenges and conflicts, we only perceive that we do. So how do we change that?

I have pretty good luck feeling my connection to nature, or my pets, or someone that I love. But the bumpy times, the rough relationships, the challenges, make me feel broken up into pieces rather than one complete whole energy.

I have to practice feeling loved. I have to learn to recognize and encourage and expand my experience of love.

Embracing your conflict or fear and transform it. I might picture a conflict I face as a small animal that needs comforting – which in a sense it is. It needs encouraging in order to grow into its true potential and make the difference it is meant to make

I’m not sure how much active love I send my own way. I know the things I like about myself. I guess I can start right there. I need to look at my heart. When we stop to look, when we pause to consider, challenges and conflicts offer lessons and insights and deepening awareness.

=== DEEPER SONG PHILOSOPHIES ===

When You See The Situation And The People Involved As Sacred, Everything Changes

Is this discord in our world because we need to get a lesson and what lesson is that?

What is the lesson I need to learn from the many conflicts of the world? What is the lesson I need to learn from planetary temperatures we’ve never seen before? What are the lessons I need to learn from my own personal challenges? And am I, in fact, learning them?

When we see the situation and the people involved as sacred and the whole scenario changes.

=== INSIGHTS FROM THE UNSEEN WORLD===

Guidance to Consider

Spend Time In A Higher Vibration Where Duality Does Not Exist

Duality is when we see ourselves as separate. Our planet sure is full of feelings of separateness. As a woman I see myself as different from a man. As a 90-year-old I see myself as different from pretty much any other age. My education separates me. My spiritual path separates me. My belief system separates me.  The color of my hair separates me. My height separates me. We are full of excuses and beliefs to feel separate.

How do we access this spirit of oneness that removes all feelings of being separate?

The place in which we are all One Energy is Source, The Universe – whatever you want to call the over-arching, all-encompassing, unified and equalizing energy.

For me, that is where I am again contemplating, experiencing, feeling myself as one with Source energy along with everyone and everything else in our universe. It’s a very large inclusive list and I have to use my imagination to see and feel the depth and breadth and expansiveness of being part of the web of life and an integral part of Source.

I have to use my imagination. I have to practice experiencing myself in the heart of Source in how I express myself in my life and my choices and my existence.

We must learn to walk the world as Source expressing inclusivity, oneness and feeling our hearts beat as One.

How do you spend time in a higher vibration where duality does not exist?

A Fascinating Read

I am totally excited about reading The Intention Experiment: Using Your Thoughts to Change Your Life and the World by Lynne McTaggart. I love how she writes and I love what she’s going to teach me.

===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEARERS===

Expand Your Role in the Rapidly Evolving Universe

The Spiritual Practice Of Offering Gratitude

To my daily spiritual practice, I have begun to establish a time to offer gratitude. I reflect back on the insights I have received, the choices I had the opportunity to make, the interactions I had with others and the unexpected gifts I have received. It is a lovely way to end my day.

===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===

Raise Your Sights and Your Expectations

We Are One Planet Among Many

If you ever looked at your astrological chart you know there are some very influential planets affecting our lives. When you look at theHubble telescope you see how truly small our planet Earth is in the overall scheme of the universe.

It makes me feel small and yet when I think of us as all one energy, it expands my mind, raises my expectations and the range of new possibilities soars.

It also expands my concept of my work in the world – multiple stars and planets and who knows what beyond.

The full moon this month traveled brightly across my windows and I got to watch her progress and be with her energy. The July full moon is the closest the moon comes to our planet each year and I visualize it sending positive energy to every part of our world as it makes its cycle. Incorporating this vision of millions of stars and planets and their potential for other life forms is a fascinating way to expand my participation on the planet.

Did you ever watch any of the episodes on Ancient Aliens that explore the Great Pyramid or other ancient buildings for which there seem to be no known technology at the time they were built? You know that it is considered probable that space entities provided the technology for such amazing feats as the supersize stacking of geometrically precise stones on the Great Pyramid and precisely curved drawings in solid stone. A terra-cotta army of more than 8,000 life-size soldiers guarded the burial site of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang Di.

Here are 7 Ancient Sites Some People Think Were Built by Aliens

We are one planet among many. How does that expand your thinking? And your expectations?

===OUR EVOLVING FUTURE===

Support and Encouragement for Our Unfolding Role in the Future

The Over-Arching View

Whenever I get bogged down in the details of a specific aspect of our world, I pause to raise my gaze and focus on the over-arching energy. Our planet is in distress because of how we humans in every part of the world are not caring for it. That should be a priority for education and action and new ideas for healing it. Every person on the planet should have the well-being of the planet as a priority. Otherwise, we have nothing. But that’s not our primary focus.

The problem seems to be years in the making. The answers seem daunting. And yet who else is going to make the necessary changes unless it is each one of us and our own individual keep-a-light-foot-on-the-planet lives. And there are still so many that are unaware of the problem and the threat to our existence.

It takes both small individual steps and large group efforts to help the planet. What are you doing and how are you doing it?

Honor Your Time And Unsubscribe

There is nothing like a good house cleaning at any time of your life. In my case I’m cleaning out my email subscriptions.

I have begun an active campaign to unsubscribe from feeds I no longer read. The first day I unsubscribed from five things I never read and I liked how that felt. For several day I continued to examine what I received to make certain it was what I wanted to continue to have access to.

Next time you go through your email, give serious thought to whether you want to continue subscribing to that particular feed and do a little housecleaning. It will make your life easier.

What other areas of your life do you need to take time to declutter?

===SING A DEEPER SONG ===

Making Room

To keep my space sacred, I must declutter.

To keep my space sacred, I must declutter. I must throw out what is no longer relevant or useful.

To keep my space sacred, I must declutter. I must throw out what is no longer relevant or useful. I take a deep cleansing breath in my newly-opened space.

Be Patient, You Are A Work In Progress

Be Patient, You Are A Work In Progress

Living Our Deeper Song

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
 The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

The good news is that we are a work in progress. The discouraging news is that we are a work in progress. We have work to do.

I have some major personal work to do – some unconscious responses to become aware of – some reactions I need to monitor – some awareness I need to increase. To make that happen takes both observation and contemplation. We all have this kind of inner wok to do.

Sometimes our responses are caused by our own apprehensions and fears. As parts of my life become more challenging, I have to be very careful to not take my frustration or apprehension out on those who are trying to help me. I have to separate my emotions from my responses.

Work on one area at a time. And don’t beat yourself up for having several areas to work on. Just take a centering breath and get to work.

Don’t just work on the big imbalances, pick some little ones that allow you to experience the positive impact of making change. My big goal is to walk upright again with my new shoes and figuring out how to adjust and accommodate my eyesight that has dry macular degeneration.

In addition, I’m still adjusting to this environment – moving from living alone half my life to interacting with people all day long. They are very kind people, but this is more one-on-one interaction than I have experienced in more than forty years.

We improve by taking small steady steps. Notice the steps. Honor yourself for taking the steps. Notice your progress and be grateful. Do not dwell on what still has to be done, keep focused on your successes.

We are each a work in progress. And we get to keep changing what we create. We get to keep evaluating and observing and rearranging until our choices seem to move us forward in the direction we want to go.

It helps me to record some success dates, to acknowledge the wins and also notice how far I’ve come.

Don’t be afraid to change directions

You may get to a certain level and see another aspect that you want to explore. Go down that path for a while and see what awaits you.

Learn from others

I am surrounded by people who are very kind. And I realize that I have been self-sufficient and self-focused for the majority of my life. That doesn’t make me a bad person, it just makes me kind of at the other end of the spectrum from these totally in-service, kind people.

I am in service on the mental level more than the physical level. I help by providing ideas and insights for others to consider. Honor your unique place of service. Learn from others but do not compare yourself with them. Follow your own unique path.

Perhaps make a list of how you are in service and see if there are any places you’d like to widen or deepen. Get to work, but be patient. You are a work in progress.

Deeper Song Affirmation

I honor the process of this journey as a human and understand that I am an ongoing work in progress.

Deeper Song Process

  • Pick one area of your life and examine it for deepening experiences, satisfactory interactions, and broader understanding.
  • Identify one or two aspects that seems to call to you that would help create change.
  • Work with those.

===INNER WORK===

Deepen Your Inner Awareness

 Do You Fully Appreciate Your Gifts?

Pause to look over the gifts you have been given in this lifetime to share. It could be a sense of humor, it could be a skill or talent, or it could be simply being kind.

What is special about you? What do others see in you that draws them to you as a person? Cultivate that.

Dropping The Ego From Our Human Perspective Is A Major Step Toward Inner Peace

To step into inner peace, we must drop our own agenda, our own needs, our own perceptions, and move into a space of non-attachment where we know that because everything is made up of Source Energy, everything is perfect just as it is.

Drop Your Own Agenda

We get so caught up in the how-to of our lives that we do not pause to contemplate and consider and re-choose. We must learn to put aside our agenda and sit quietly in contemplation to hear the guidance and wisdom of our inner voice.

Drop Your Own Needs

We can get totally wrapped up in fulfilling our own needs, figuring out what they are, figuring out how to fill them, figuring out what to do without. Put your needs and wants aside and simply be present in the moment and see what your inner voice suggests to you.

Drop Your Own Perceptions

Our perceptions come to us from many different sources – our parents, our family, our friends, our life experiences and our spirituality. We must pause to examine and re-choose how we perceive our life and how it is unfolding.

Move Into Union With Oneness

How do we move into union with Oneness? We begin by sitting in silence and going within. We empty our minds and become present in our heart and with our spirit. And then we listen.

We may experience nudges or feelings. We may experience full visions. We must learn to trust what we receive and our ability to interpret it.

The core message is that everything and everyone is made up of Source Energy, and we are all perfect just as we are.

That can be a giant step to take. It can be a difficult step to take. It can be a challenging step to take. But we must take it.

Move Out Of The Way

When you drop your ego, you can begin to taking major steps toward inner peace.

===SELF-HEALING===

Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself

How Much Of The Time Are You Loving?

I’m pretty much caught up in my own process. I love my mind, I love where it takes me, and I fill my days with mental adventures and explorations. So when I ask myself the question “how much time am I loving?” I don’t get a very good answer. Particularly because I’m not aware it is a step I consciously want to take. But I should. I could. I will.

I am probably more “loving” than I realize because I’m basically a kind, open, caring person. But I get so enthusiastically caught up in my own thoughts, I am sometimes not as careful about how consciously I am responding to others. I’ve been very self-sufficient most of my life.

I’m going to practice being loving. I will begin with a part of my spiritual practice that has me commune with nature. I will tune in. I will connect. I will listen. And I will see where and how I can energetically help the planet. I will practice being more consciously kind and loving and then let that seep into my everyday interactions.

I’m not in much of a position to do physical kind deeds but I certainly can offer verbal support. How much time do you spend supporting others and how do you do that?

Hold It Lightly

When we release our tight hold on a situation that we are caught up in, we have room to move – to reconsider and rethink where we are, to decide where we want to go and the steps to get us there. When we shift and hold our intention in light, we have room to refill, reconsider and refresh.

===OUTER  WORK===

Explore New Potential and Possibilities

Think Of Your Moods As Weather Passing Through

When faced with a bad mood know that it will pass. When faced with a good mood enjoy it for it too shall pass. Our moods are like the weather, changing and rearranging.

We have some control over our response to a mood. We can sink deeper into a bad mood or shift our mood so we have a really great time with a good mood. It’s our choice.

We can actually change our mood. It may take some work. It may take some imagination. But we can move ourselves from negative thoughts to positive thoughts simply by shifting our attention. Just as we can look at a thunderstorm and appreciate how the plants are being given the water they need, or we can be in a bad mood because we have to stay inside. It’s our choice.

As our moods shift, we get to also shift how we view what is showing up in our life. Is it a time to be still and go within? Is it a time to undertake a project? Is it time for a spontaneous nap? How will you adapt to your changing moods? Think of your moods as weather passing through and find the bright side.

Use Stillness To Deal With An Emotion

When an animal feels threatened, it freezes so it will not be noticed be its predator. It is motionless and silent. As humans we do not find ourselves threatened very often but we can choose stillness to help us deal with any emotion that shows up that distresses or disturb us.

I can move into my center by meditating to quiet my mind, to quiet my fears, to find the strength I need to move forward or make a change. All of that is within my reach simply by quietly going within my mind.

Practice. Be aware of the times you need to pause to consider where are you are and take the steps you need to center yourself. It can be a deep breath. It can be a mantra. Or simply a pause to look out the window and be present in nature. How do you create a conscious pause to mindfully center yourself?

Listen To What Is Left Unsaid

There is a skill to listening. We must learn to pay attention to what is not said, what is not expressed. Perhaps what needs to be said is not even introduced into the conversation. What are you leaving out? What are they leaving out? Can you read the nuances, the unspoken concerns? Can you clearly express your own needs and desires? That takes some artful listening. You may need to practice that.

The first step is to listen to what is not being said. And perhaps ask questions that help both of you understand what is still in hiding. Sometimes we don’t know what is underneath a concern or worry or apprehension until we search beneath our thoughts and words for clarity.

Notice what you said and see what you have left unspoken. Is it lack of clarity? It is being misunderstood? The more clear our communication, the more interactive and responsive is our exchange.

Listen to what is left unsaid and see if you can bring it to the surface.

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness

Dwell In A Place Of Emptiness

First you have to find it, then you have to spend time in it. How do you develop a place of emptiness and how do you work with it?

A place of emptiness requires stillness. Stillness of your mind, slowness of your breath, stillness of your body. It’s not meditation, it is empty stillness.

And then you trust that from that emptiness emerges the insights and awareness that you need next.

Sometimes there is just the soothing experience of emptiness to immerse yourself in. Sometimes it the revealing of a new path for you to explore and consider. Sometimes an idea resonates so deeply that you know that is your next step.

Trust whatever shows up. Trust that you will know what to do. And learn to dwell in a place of emptiness.

===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEARERS===

Expand Your Role in the Rapidly Evolving Universe

Look For The Good

Do you focus on what is not working or what is working? Stop a minute and give that some thought.

First of all, you should focus on the overarching objective of what you are pursuing to be sure that’s what you really want to be doing.

Then notice what is working and what new insights and opportunities have presented themselves. Be certain this is the path you want to take at this point in time.

Then you can start fixing things – toss out what is not working and expand on what is working and see what creative remedies you can come up with for that.

The first step to success is to look for the good.

===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===

Raise Your Sights and Your Expectations

Our Role In The Infinite Web

The overall grand plan is not revealed to us but we get hints and nudges from the universe. It is enough to know that we are part of an infinite web and that each of us is an invaluable strand in that web.

Everything is made up of Source Energy – I am, you are, we are. How we express that Source Energy varies.

We have chosen a path to take in this lifetime and have a lot of freedom in how we walk that path.

Some of us have chosen to have a broad impact and change a lot of lives. Others have chosen a smaller impactful role. Recognize and accept and cherish your unique role in the web of life. Honor your path in the infinite web and do your work well.

I know that at all times I have a silent, invisible Partner walking with me, talking with me, operating through me. Continuously, I keep my mind open to Its guidance, to Its inspiration and illumination.

Keep Learning

Sometimes I have discipline when I learn something and sometimes I don’t. I am still working my way through David Gibson’s The Complete Guide to Sound Healing and although I want to read Jonathan Goldman’s books, I will persist in finishing what I started. How often do you get pulled off track?

I will listen to the Sound Healing Conference next week and I expect to find other resources to consider. It is all about sound healing and I will be looking for ways to continue to heal myself.

Do you keep on a path of learning long enough to find out if it works for you and if it takes you where are you want to go?

A Bend In The Road

I have come to a bend in the road. It is time to pause and reconsider.

I have come to a bend in the road. It is time to pause and reconsider. Am I where I want to be? Does this path take me where I want to go? Have my goals changed?

I have come to a bend in the road. It is time to pause and reconsider. Am I where I want to be? Does this path take me where I want to go? Have my goals changed? I sit beside the bend in the road and go within to find my answers.

Living Our Deeper Song

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
 The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

I want to expand and deepen my experience of the resources and beliefs that other cultures contain in order to broaden my own life choices. Perhaps adapting even one small idea from another culture will create a major change in my life.

I don’t want to be a monk, but I sure would like to live with that serenity and stillness within, so how do I create and establish my version of that?

There are qualities in others that I wish I had more of in myself. And even though that may not be an integral part of my persona, I can create my own version of the stillness, or the joy, the passion, or the generosity that I see in others that I would like to have more of in my life.

What can you learn from the diversity of our world today? Which parts and pieces will you bring into your life?

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

I look for the gifts and diversity in the world and incorporative those that call to me.

DEEPER SONG PROCESS

  • Examine some spiritual practices of other cultures and adapt and incorporate what calls to you.
  • Go online and examine the artwork of other cultures and see what resonates with you.
  • Explore cuisine from another culture.
  • Learn more about how other cultures structure their family relationships.
  • Read some literature from another culture.
  • If you know someone from another culture, get to know them better.

===INNER WORK===

Deepen Your Inner Awareness

What Is Your Inner Truth?

Life can get complex, confusing, and disoriented. We can be surrounded by ideas, and opportunities, and even insights that need to make it through the cycle of indecision. We must learn to identify and choose core values that resonate with us.

There are several ways to incorporate this in your spiritual practice. The first one is as simple as making a list of your core values on a regular basis, perhaps at the beginning of the month, or the full moon, or even quarterly. You have to take time to really choose. You need to rethink and re-examine where your life has led you and what new opportunities have unfolded and either keep those decisions or make new choices. It’s sort of a once a month “how am I doing’” check-in process along with a good dose of “is this where I want to go?”

A new opportunity may change your direction. A new insight may change your pace or even your entire path.

The new shoes with lifts I have to even my legs will open a huge path of opportunity for me to explore. It will involve upper body exercises, walking, and standing straight, and expanding my range of movement. That’s a lot coming from a shoe. You never know when an opportunity will make a huge change in your direction. Listen to your insights. Listen to your inner truth and follow it.

How Do You Center Yourself?

Sometimes it is surprisingly easy to take a deep breath simply to center yourself. It stops the inner chatter, it brings your focus to the present, and you find yourself centered again.

Experiment with different ways to bring yourself to center. Learn to do it in the middle of a conversation, learn to do it in the middle of an emotion, find different ways to center yourself as your mind gets super busy.

Do you notice when your mind is overwhelmed? Do you notice when your thoughts are scattered? What techniques do you use to restore balance?

I turn and look out the window. I may take some deep centering breaths. I may put a task aside and do something else to change my rhythm. If I could, I might go outside and be present in nature. I might pause and meditate or play my drums or use my sound healing instruments. There are many ways to change the direction of your thoughts and settle into a place of quiet contemplation. How do you do that?

===SELF-HEALING===

Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself

Praise Dancing

I had never heard of “praise dancing” until recently when a nurse shared that she did ‘praise dancing”.

She is a hands-clapping, gospel-singing Christian so I understood what she meant, but I am not Christian and I had to think what my version of praise dancing would be.

I could do a praise dance to nature. I could do a praise dance to my spirituality. I could do the praise dance to my body. I don’t even know what my praise dance would look like. But obviously the point is to go within and express yourself in a form of praise and celebration that engages your whole body.

What does doing a praise dance mean to you? How would you put it in your life and what would you praise?

What’s Not Working In Your Life And How Will You Fix It?

It’s wonderful if your life is moving along at a good pace but if it’s not, you need to fix it.

Perhaps begin with a list about what is working well in your life, what is nurturing and interesting. Then make a list of the not so good stuff to see what changes might be made there. And finally make a list of what is not working and sit there and brainstorm some ideas of what you can do to fix that.

I suggest you begin by looking at the people you spend time with to make certain they are nurturing and uplifting and positive to be around. If someone doesn’t fit that criteria look closely to see why you were spending time with them.

You have the power to change. You have the power to change your choices, the actions you take, the people you spend time with or even the thoughts you think. You have a great deal of control over your life experience through the choices you take. Choose wisely and thoughtfully.

What’s not working in your life and how will you fix it?

===OUTER  WORK===

Explore New Potential and Possibilities

The Power Of Walking Barefoot

When was the last time you walked barefoot in the grass?  It was kind of cool. It kind of tickled. And it felt incredibly grounding and freeing at the same time.

Nick Polizzi Host of Remedy: Ancient Medicine for Modern Illness & Founder of The Sacred Science says that “historically speaking, it seems like we’re right in step with our forebears. Long before we had cushiony sneakers, our distant ancestors tended to walk barefoot over rock, rubble, dirt, stick, and stream. Their feet were strong and nimble, able to sense and react to any surface they encountered.”

I remember my grandparents gravel driveway. It was tricky to get across in my bare feet but I could do it. And the grass on the other side felt wonderful to my bare feet.

When was the last time you stepped outside in your bare feet and connected to the core of Mother Earth? And when will you do it again?

Clear Your Life Of Unwanted Clutter

You have to make room for what you want. You have to look at your life and clear out the clutter that is keeping you from the path you choose and the life you desire to create.

Clutter creeps up on us. It builds up slowly one item at a time until suddenly my space is cluttered and there is no room for what I desire to have around me let alone anything new.

Where to begin? If you were doing Feng Shui, you would clear everything out of the space and begin thoughtfully adding one item at a time while keeping the over-arching balance in mind.

What if you began with an empty day? No planning. No organizing. Just an empty space in which you put in one thing at a time and savor it. Perhaps it is meditation time. Perhaps it is study time. Perhaps it is spending time with one special nurturing friend.

You have to begin with a clear space, empty of obligations and choices. Just as in Feng Shui, bring in one element at a time and savor it and shape it until it meets your need. You may want to immerse yourself in some facet, like studying or writing. You may want to spend time alone finding your own rhythm, spending time in nature to be nurtured by it.

I work to maintain a balance between writing and study and physical movement and rest. Sometimes I spend a whole day in just one of those elements but most of the time it is an eclectic mix of choices.

Experiment. Spend more hours on one facet until you feel satiated. Then move to another nurturing activity until you find the right balance for you at this point in time. Experiment with awareness and clear your life of unwanted clutter.

Double Check Your Values

How have your values changed recently? Are some things now more important that they used to be? What changes do you need to make to accommodate those new priorities?

I am finding ways to add more movement to my life so I can walk better again.  I am expanding my TM practice and

deepening some of my other spiritual practices. I am exploring sound healing to see what doors it will open. As I watch new doors open for me, I am exploring those paths. Keep your eyes and heart open and double check your values that you prize.

What Are The Gifts You Received Today?

Sometimes the gifts are so great that we are overwhelmed with gratitude. Other times the gifts are so small, they nearly go unnoticed. Are you aware of the offerings the universe gives you? And how they are needed to support you in your life choices?

It could’ve been something someone said that made you pause to think or laugh out loud, or a phrase that opened a new path you hadn’t considered.

This week I received the gift of my three-week bout of bronchitis subsiding. If I could go into a dance, I would.

Last week I received the gift of a meaningful interaction with a loved one that helped change the direction of our relationship.

The kind support I receive throughout my day is a gift unto itself and is deeply impactful on my life experience.

Honor the gifts you give yourself. Notice the difference they made and how your week progressed because of them. Sit on the steps with your bare feet in the grass to be with nature. Watch the birds at the bird feeder. Sit in the sun and observing its rays. Be fully present with your pet and the texture of its coat.

Be present with the gifts that surround you and let them nurture and nourish and support you.

Make It A Good Day

As your day begins, do you take time to give thought to how to make it a really good day? What will you do for yourself? What will you do for others? What do you want to learn? What do you want to see? What do you want to experience? How will you do all that?

What will you do for yourself?

So often we step into our day without any thought about caring for ourselves. We get up and go. Taking time to meditate is a lovely way to center yourself and take time to contemplate your life if you will. Be more conscious of the food you eat or the people you choose to spend time with. Look for the things that nurture you and do more of those.

What will you do for others?

Is there someone who could use your support? It can be helping an individual or can be about participating in a group with a larger purpose. How will you create supporting others in your day?

What do you want to learn?

Learning could be about things you want to learn for your job, but I’m thinking more in terms of things that you want to learn that are philosophical in nature. That will help you deepen your inner work and expand your awareness

What do you want to see?

I may choose to look more closely at nature. We have a really lovely garden here that is maintained by master gardener volunteers from the area and I may want to look more closely at individual plants and be more aware of the activity in the Koi Pond or in general be more observant of nature.

I may want to learn to be more observant of others by looking more closely at their expression and listening to the tone of their voice as well as their words.

What do you want to experience?

I want to experience friendship. I want to have a sense of accomplishment. I would like to experience laughter. I would like to be pleasantly surprised. And I would like to learn something that I hadn’t expected to learn.

How will you do all that?

Some of those experiences I create by my own actions. Some come to me through my interaction with others.

The bottom line is it’s up to us to make it a good day.

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness

Finding Sacred Places

You don’t have to visit the Great Pyramids in order to find a sanctuary in a secret place. You have probably already created a secret place in several places in your life. You just need to identify them and work with them.

There are several ways. My computer desk is a sacred place for me primarily because that’s where I think and write. It’s an eclectic mix of functional and spiritual and I have no real space to separate them.

My desk chair allows me to turn and face the window, or my altar, or my plants or more practical things like my computer.  This where I meditate and write and perform my spiritual practice.

I live in a very small space and every inch of it is sacred.

I have to be certain my thoughts and behavior honor that. This is where I process my frustrations or try to balance my imbalances: try to heal them and try to learn. Am I treating my space with honor and respect? Probably not all the time. Because all my emotions and daily life live here with me.

Find a way to feel you have entered a secret place whenever you wish, a place to deepen your awareness, a place to change your life.

=== DEEPER SONG  PHILOSOPHIES ===

Stillness

The Master allows things to happen. She shapes events as they come. She steps out of the way and lets the Tao speak for itself.

– Tao Te Ching, Stephen Mitchell

I have to practice simply allowing things to happen. It’s not in my nature. I’m a planner and a doer. But what if we sit back and absorb and consider what the universe offers us? No specific action, more observing and considering and being present?

When we shape things as they come, we consider in the moment, we check our heart, we check our world, and we chose for the highest good of all.

The most powerful step we can take is to listen and observe. There may or may not be a step to take, it may simply be a need for more awareness. Or an idea to consider.

Can you sit in the stillness and observe before you act?

=== INSIGHTS FROM THE UNSEEN WORLD===

Guidance to Consider

Summer Solstice

Nature teaches us about birth and death. It teaches us about cycles. It teaches us about interaction. Nature is a very powerful teacher.

Summer solstice has just begun. It is a period of outside activity and cultivating nature and being present with the animals and insects and birds around us.

Midsummer is the time of new beginnings and it has been celebrated since the pagan holiday of Litha. It is a time for deepening your connection with your inner power.

The days get longer and as we spend more time outside with our neighbors, it expands and deepens our experiences.

Summer is a time for deepening your inner wisdom by spending time in nature to learn from its patience, its interaction, it’s rhythm of growth and expansion. And then see how you can apply that to your life.

Summer is the time for deep contemplation, to explore new options simply by learning from nature. Enjoy.

===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEARERS===

Expand Your Role in the Rapidly Evolving Universe

Which Of Your Relationships Needs Healing?

Sometimes we don’t even know that a relationship needs healing.  Sometimes we simply don’t know how to heal it. Relationships go astray in small pieces until there is a gap or misunderstanding that you have learned to live with and didn’t even notice.

So how do you fix it? Take a few minutes to look over your core relationships and ask yourself several questions. Is it as nurturing as you want it to be? Are you doing your part? Are they doing their part? What misunderstandings or lack of communication have driven a wedge even ever so slightly into your relationship?

I recently became increasingly aware that I was being offensive in a relationship with someone I care deeply about. Whatever I was doing was not working for her. But I didn’t know what I was doing, I just knew that I was doing it wrong. I know everyone is not lucky enough to have a therapist handy but I do and she went to work. She talked with each of us and found our priorities and we met and discussed how to handle them and how for me to modify certain behaviors. I have not been listening deeply enough.

Having a good person-to-person conversation with love and honesty and clarity of need is a good place to start. And be sure you are a really good listener.

Take time to literally write down what you’re feeling. What you wish would change. Perhaps what it used to be like that you would like to recapture. And when the other person is sharing, don’t interrupt, and don’t make excuses, just listen with your heart.

Give the other person time to think about the situation. Don’t just suddenly say,

“let’s sit down and talk about our relationship.” Because that will take them by surprise. Perhaps say something like “I would like to see if we can make some changes in our relationship. Can you take some introspective time to notice and examine and explore what does work for you in our relationship and what does not. Then let’s discuss it to see what we could change.”

I remember years ago in New York City I had a friend who would call me and talk and talk and talk about her life and her process. And at the end she would say, “And how are you?” I got about three sentences out before she was through with the call. I’m not sure she even knew that was an unsatisfying part of our friendship.

Some people may be too needy. Some people may not naturally be supportive. You may not feel heard. They may not feel heard. And sometimes it’s as simple as a personal need the other person is unaware of. Whatever the cause, it is damaging relationships because of the lack of give-and-take and equal time.

Take time to look at your relationships to see how you can change because sometimes it’s not simple. And sometimes it is a simple as sharing your needs until the relationship comes back into balance.

Which of your relationships need healing and what steps will you take to make that happen?

Dig Deep To Find The Truth And Build On It

We cover up our deepest truth in many layers. In order to move forward we must dig deeply for the truth.

Examine Your Thoughts

Our thoughts slip and slide around corners and change shape unexpectedly. Clearing your mind is one of the first steps to finding truth. Notice which thoughts are yours. Notice which thoughts belong to others and question why you took them on and if you want to keep them.

Quieting your mind and questioning the source of your thoughts and making new choices will take you closer to your own truth.

Examine Your Mind

We make assumptions. We jump to conclusions. We need to quiet our mind, examine our thoughts and our expectations and our beliefs. Perhaps take time to write down your core beliefs. Make certain they reflect how you want to live your life. Look closely at what you believe you deserve and what you believe is possible and see where you are holding yourself back.

Establish a practice of stillness. Quiet your mind and speak from your inner self to gain clarity and guidance and insight.

Examine Your Heart

Expand your heart to become more inclusive. That means examining your judgments, your beliefs, your fears, until you can identify what is at the core of your heart.

I have to change my focus to be more inclusive. I want to change my focus to be more aware of all of us as Light Bearers and encourage each of us to hold our light high. But most of all, I have to feel our Oneness and I can’t do that very well right now in my country. I have some work to do.

What will I do? Quiet my mind and be more present with others, to hear beyond what they say and do. That will take some practice. My mind always wants to contribute something to the point that I almost interrupt others in my enthusiasm to share.

As we open our hearts, as we embrace our oneness, we will experience change. Dig deep to find the truth and build on it.

===OUR EVOLVING FUTURE===

Support and Encouragement for our Unfolding Role in the Future

The Power Of Youth

I am amazed at the thoughtfulness of the 19 and 21-year-olds that are on staff here in my long-term care facility. They are here because they know they want to help and they’re looking for that particular place of service for themselves. High school students show up here to be oriented to understand and experience the duties of a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) because they can start training for that in high school. Some of them know they want to go into nursing. Some know they want to become doctors. They all have a strong need to help.

I watch high school students establish movements to save the planet. I see young women leading the charge to restore the right for women to monitor and care for our own bodies. Young people are listening and taking action which is a very good thing because we very much need their voices in the world today.

If you have young people in your life who are interested in activism, help them become true stewards and guardians of our planet and our personal rights. Young people are our future. Encourage them.

=== ===THE UNFOLDING DIVINE FEMININE=== ===

Explore and Interpret the Guidance and Messages of the Divine Feminine

I’m Not Doing It Right

I have made the mistake of moving into the adversarial, warlike, confrontational energy of the Divine Masculine when in fact, when I want to learn to be is encompassing, inclusive, supportive, and making every effort to bring everyone into equal footing.

I have been confrontational. and I’ve been scared of the war-like aspect of the masculine as it currently manifests. And yet I do know Amazons existed as warrior figures for their people.

The myth says that the Amazon women were the most powerful women ever. In the ancient times, they were said to be a tribe of independent, mighty women who had rebelled against the men-dominated society. They used to live in isolated places, excluding men from their society and making wars against them.

Now I don’t want to make a war against men. But I do want to find a place of balanced interaction and coexistence that honors both our strengths and our weaknesses.

The Amazons were a race of female warriors in Greek mythology, who dwelt in the region of modern-day Ukraine. (Isn’t that interesting…) Two of the best-known Amazon queens were Penthesilea, who took part in the Trojan War, and her sister Hippolyta, who was the owner of a magical girdle, given to her by the god of war Ares.

Amazons worshipped Artemis, Because of this, two of three patron deities are Ares, god of war, and Artemis, goddess of war, and Cybele, goddess of the moon. Artemis can be regarded in many ways as an immortal Amazon. She was known to be fierce, warlike, and was also the goddess of the hunt and nature.

I’ll stop there with my analogy. You get the picture – for me being feminine means being self-sufficient, protective, and attuned with nature.

I think the part I have to play is turning the natural instinct to protect our children and family into the warrior-like protection of the planet as a whole.

That means we have to fight. That means we have to establish strong patterns of inclusiveness. And expectation. That means that both men and women must change our thinking, our role, and our expectations for ourselves.

Where do we begin? What do you expect of yourself? Up that a few levels. Up what you think you should or could expect from a man or expect from yourself if you are a man. Have a discussion with the men in your life, both large and small, about how their role is changing and what that looks like and how they might express that in their lives. See what that means to them and how it might be expressed in your life.

The oldest man I know is 78. He is my son-in-law and he is the kindest, most supportive person I have ever known. He was a high school teacher, he’s been a Boy Scout leader, and has been in Service all of his life. His 12-year younger wife has not reached retirement age and he cares for her needs and their home. He is a perfect example of a man willing to take on any role that is needed.

It’s the old politicians who seem warrior-like that we need to protect ourselves from in order to establish a world that is guided by curing, protective, loving, defended-it-all females and somehow teach then to choose. I have no idea how that will unfold.

How do we know to view our roles in our world differently? We must become more expansive. And more compassionate. And more caring. And much, much more inclusive.

===CARA’S CORNER===

 Get The Help You Need

I am so grateful that I have access to physical therapy. I was on the recumbent bike for 29 minutes.  After that I did some arm and leg strengthening exercises with my physical therapist, Maggie, and then I walked back to my room in my new blue lift shoes – standing up straighter – using my walker, of course. It was a major progression. And what I learned was to go with your goal from a different direction. We worked other body parts and it affected the core outcome. There’s a lesson here someplace.  It’s probably about strengthening your support system around the goal you wish to achieve. So if I want my body to stand up straight, then I have to exercise different parts of my body individually or I can’t   make that over-arching change happen.

So what is the life lesson here? Build a structure around what you want to create. Make certainly it has a strong foundation. Pay attention to the material you use in the risers that hold the whole  structure in place. And build yourself a structure from the ground up.

Do the work. I had physical therapy visits before I moved from across the street to Evergreen but if I didn’t do the work, nothing happened.

I do some exercises every day but perhaps not as vigorously or energetically or as extensively as I might.

How committed are you to strengthening and restoring whatever in your life needs fixing? Get the help you need and do the work!

I don’t need to go it alone. There are people who will support and help me. I simply need to ask and do the work.

I don’t need to go it alone. There are people who will support and help me. I simply need to ask and do the work. It is up to me to make change happen.

===INNER WORK===

Deepen Your Inner Awareness

  Are You Meditating Enough?

I have just recently realized that I’m not meditating enough. So my first step was to find where I wanted to fit meditation in my life. And I found it. It’s after I am dressed and ready for my day. But my day has not yet begun. If I wait too long there are interruptions, to take my blood pressure and give out pills.

I have a transcendental meditation mantra that is very powerful that I use and I experimented with different time of day to see what resonated the most. So I have the time and the place and the motivation.

It’s always good to start your day with meditation but it’s also really good to use meditation as a quieting bridge between your workday and your evening/family time/me-time. It helps to change your energy and your focus.

I have other spiritual things I do in my day like drum to nature and sing to the directions and work with my crystals and other items on my altar but I had not stopped to quiet my mind and meditate. And that’s going to make a huge difference in my life. How do you need to improve or change your meditative practice?

Become Aware Of The Negative Beliefs That Are Holding You Back

“I can’t, I don’t know how, I would not be very good at that.” What are your negative beliefs and how prevalent are they in your thinking?

They show up in sneaky understated ways and we quickly magnify that into: I’m not good enough,” or “I can’t do that,” and we are stopped dead in their tracks.

I like to look at the new ideas as invitations to explore. And if it comes to me, I dip my toe in far enough to know if I want go in much further.

I pause to explore the potential and possibilities. A pause to visualize and try it on for size and see how it feels. I pause to imagine, imagine potential, imagine the possibilities, imagine myself on that path. You can use your imagination as a fitting room to try on any of the ideas that come your way.

Keep an eye out for the negative beliefs that are holding you back. “I’m not good enough, I’m not worthy enough, I don’t know how to do that.” Sweep it out of your mind. And imagine yourself standing in an empty room with the windows wide open, and let those ideas come in and see how they feel, and watch the potential path they will take, and how your life might manifest if you took that particular path. When you clear out the stuck places, the beliefs that are holding you there, you will find the right answer and take the right action and the right path.

Let Journaling Deepen Your Awareness

Writing things down clarifies them. It opens up another layer to be examined. Use journaling to deepen your awareness.

I have a tendency to journal any excuses I give to not get things done so I can examine them and change them.  Find your own way to open new doors and close those that are no longer needed.

===SELF-HEALING===

Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself

”Me” Time

Let’s pretend you have a whole day to yourself with no obligations or responsibilities – just a wonderful clear day to fill as you will. What will you do? This is not about resting, or recuperating; it is about deepening your soul awareness, nurturing your inner and outer self. What comes to mind? What would you do first?

Do you want to be alone? Is there someone you want to be with? What would it feel like to lying on the grass and watch the clouds shift and listen to the sounds of nature? What about you? What in your life needs nurturing right now?

Let’s begin with self-love. Do you need to be in nature? Do you need to meditate? Do you need to study? Is there one person you would be nurtured by being with? Only you can tell. Only you can choose.

How do you nurture yourself every day? I always find something I read makes me turn and write a little something for this newsletter. That makes me add it to my life and offers it you for yours for consideration. I keep expanding my spiritual practice as I sit here by my window overlooking the garden. I am exploring sound healing on my own body. I worked with physical therapy to learn to walk in my new blue shoes with lifts.

You make a difference simply walking through your day. Make sure your energy is clear and focused on being light, and focused on being inclusive and loving.

”Me” time does not necessarily mean alone time but it certainly must contain something nurturing that can expand your awareness and possibilities.

See if you can have a whole day, designate to self-care, self-love, self-nurturing, self-wisdom. And do it often. How do you spend “Me Time”?

Find Meaning In Your Challenges

Every challenge is a time to rethink, reconsider, relearn, and reorder.

What is the lesson? What are your choices? Where will each of the choices lead you? A challenge is a perfect time to see what lessons are being offered and which ones you want to accept.

It could be a physical challenge that you have to figure out how to work with or workaround or fix. It could be a challenge of interaction, as in how to interact with a certain person, or a certain situation, and what kind of choices are open for you to make and where they lead.

It might be an opportunity to look deeply within and further identify your values, beliefs, and the path you choose to follow.

Challenges are there in order to help you grow. They make you consider, evaluate, and make choices that impact your life. Welcome them. Find meaning in your challenge and let it take you to a new level.

===OUTER WORK===

Explore New Potential and Possibilities

The Power of Being Self-Sufficient

We experience a feeling of confidence and independence when we are able to complete all that we wish to accomplish without having to rely on anyone else. It is powerful to be self-sufficient. We can go down any path when we are self-sufficient.

How do you become self-sufficient? You learn to trust your own instincts, your own urges, and you act on them.

Pause throughout your day today and notice how strongly you are standing in your own power.

Bring Compassion To Every Situation

It takes some practice. I don’t come across very many conflicting situations but I do know I can bring compassion to some of the more extreme positions in the world and in this country today. I do not encounter rational negative positions in long term care but I think my response would be two things – send positive energy to that person and walk away.

How do you transform a negative situation into a stable, healthy vibration?

Understand The Impact Of Your Presence

I’m just being me. Wisecracking, introspective, always-thinking-me, but I am having impact. Some of which I know about, some I don’t. We may or may not recognize the impact of our conversations with others, but we definitely don’t know what happens when that person turns and shares those insights with other people in their lives. Our impact has a ripple effect and we must trust that it reaches the most impactful shores.

You may be present during a confrontation and say nothing, but yet your mere presence may have had a balancing and calming impact.  You may have made a casual observation that someone took to heart and made major changes in their lives. And sometimes we have impact by what we leave unsaid. Do not underestimate the impact of your presence. Open your heart and simply be.

Expand Your Comfort Zone

It sure is easy to play it safe – to not explore or experiment or even consider new ideas. Your current comfort zone has served you, but it represents behaviors and patterns from your past. And if you don’t want to stay stuck you have to explore and experiment.

How will you expand your comfort zone today?

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness

In This Moment

We waste so much time with what ifs? What if I did that? What if I had not done that? But those moments are over. Those times no longer exist.

Yesterday is gone, whatever we did or did not do is over. Tomorrow is not here, it’s not time to immerse ourselves in tomorrow. What we have is “now”. The glorious open-ended full-of-opportunity “now” that is our life.

Are you fully present in this gift of each moment? That means not thinking ahead, and not reviewing the past. It may mean looking out the window to be present in the miracles that are there. It may mean moving into meditation to contemplate ceremony.

Notice where you focus your attention. And stay present in the moment.

Create Space For The Unknown

When we fill our life with clutter, we leave no space for the unknown. When we fill our life with expectations, we leave no space for the unknown.

Mental clutter, physical and emotional clutter are all things that rise up to grab our attention and keep us from simply being present.

I’m talking about simple things, like completely stopping what you were doing and turning to watch the birds feed at the bird feeder outside your window. Be present with them. And their day. And their life.

I’m talking about pausing in your work to notice things you have around you, the pictures on the wall, the objects you have placed around you. Be with your environment. Let the plants nurture you.  Let the silence nurture you.  Empty yourself and sit in the stillness and absorb that stillness into your soul.

There is no time when it is not now so dwelling in the future and past are not productive or beneficial.

Sit in silence. Breathe, clear your mind, and immerse yourself in the silence. See how long you can keep from having a thought. Perhaps focus on your breathing. Perhaps see yourself as a shapeshifting cloud in the sky slowly making a change.

Slow down. Simply be present. Don’t be too eager to jump on whatever ideas and thoughts show up. Expand your emptiness to make space for breathing.

Silence clears space. It clears the space of mental chatter and all manner of distractions.

In a quiet space in a contemplative mood, make space for the Unknown, what does it want you to consider? What does it want you to observe? What does it want you to explore? Check in again. Let it surprise you. Let it take you down unexplored paths. Be adventuresome. Be thoughtful. And listen. The universe will speak to you in very clear tones. But first you have to sit quietly and create space for the unknown to make itself known.

Explore and Interpret the Guidance and Messages of the Divine Feminine

Masculine Versus Feminine

I have to change my thinking. The Yin Yang symbol is a circle with equal parts dark and light and each half continues into a bit of the other.  We each contain both the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine. But I have been thinking of them as separate and the Divine Masculine as a current enemy of sorts. Since the Divine Feminine is rising at this point, I get to really look at that concept and not be so mad at the masculine side, particularly the old white men.

This is a time of rebalancing and redefining – a time of change for the world.

“Do not seek answers outside yourself.” That’s another reminder of something I already know but need to remember since the world is in such a mess.

I liked the concept of Portals of Possibilities and the freedom to explore divergent dimensions.

I also realize that I’ve been examining the idea that we don’t have to raise our vibration, we already are a high vibration. How to become aware of it and live from that viewpoint, I need to explore. Every time I hear the concept of raising our vibration I think, “No, we already are high vibration, we just have to figure out how to live that, believe that, reflect that and be aware of it. I want to explore that.

Pat Your Plants

I am having a very hard time growing plants in my new space. I don’t know why.

Scientists like Peter Wohlleben, the famous German “tree herder” said this about the awareness of plants—that they can see, talk, recognize relatives, and even teach.

I have to give that some thought and I have to look into my relationship with three plants I have. Only one is doing well and that’s because it was purchased fairly recently in a store.

I have never had to work hard to care for my plants before, they sort of independently did their thing and sometimes I appreciated them more than other times.  For someone who only has three plants to get to work I have to think about this and how it will change my actions — plants can see, talk, recognize relatives, and even teach.

(Note: on the way out of a meeting today I saw a heart-shaped philodendron on a file cabinet and asked for a start. I got one and its now encouraged to grow roots in a cup of water. I will start chatting and talking to it and encouraging it.

What does this mean for the time you get to spend in nature? Do you sit down and talk to a tree. Do you ask a plant for guidance and advice? Do you listen to the conversation of the plants around you? What do you hear? What do you learn?

Have you ever talked to a tree? Have you ever stroked the leaves of a plant and talked to it? I’m going to start doing that with the few plants I have around me.

Everything is energy. All things have wisdom and insights to share. Learn to listen and interpret. Begin by learning from the plants around you and enjoy the conversation.

===SING A DEEPER SONG ===

Love In Nature

I have to talk to my plants more. I have to tell them that I love them. I have to tell them that I need them. I need to pat their leaves in appreciation.

I have to talk to my plants more. I have to tell them that I love them. I have to tell them that I need them. I need to pat their leaves in appreciation. Then I have to listen, and open myself up to receiving their message.

I have to talk to my plants more. I have to tell them that I love them. I have to tell them that I need them. I need to pat their leaves in appreciation. Then I have to listen, and open myself up to receiving their message. What will I hear? What will I feel? What will our conversation be about?

The Power Of Your Blessing

The Power Of Your Blessing

Living Our Deeper Song

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
 The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

For a moment I was stopped by the word “blessing” and I paused to see why. I realized I had momentarily gotten caught up in the religious definition of blessing and didn’t think I had the power to do so. It was the job of someone of a higher station or impact than I saw myself. I looked up the synonyms for blessing – dedication, grace, absolution, benediction, commendation, consecration, invocation – and I began to see why I felt that I could not offer a blessing. So for me the word ‘blessing” was tied to a person of status being permitted to bless, a status I wasn’t certain I had achieved. And that is not true.

This came up for me in a meditation by Roel Crabbe in which he said, “Offer your blessings”. And I realized I was an occasional “good luck” or a blessing before meals person but I had not added many places in my life in which I offer a blessing.

I found my answer in Shamanism. “Blessings are special ceremonies intended on ushering in positive energy.” I can do that. You can do that. We can bless anything with a spirit (and that’s everything).

Ceremony is used to usher in positive change. The change of seasons, a move to another environment, a change to a new job, to your home, to your day.  You can bless anything with a spirit – and that’s everything in shamanism. I/we have some work to do.

Where will you send your blessings and how will you send them? What kind of ceremony will you create? It could be long or short. It could be anytime and anywhere. It begins with an intention that then becomes draped in a ceremony of your design.

I sing and drum to the directions each day but I hadn’t thought of it as a blessing to my day. I can deepen my intention. I have gotten out of the habit of offering a blessing of gratitude to the food that I receive, to the people who grow it, the people who transport it, the people who prepare it. They all deserve my gratitude and blessings for the work that they do.

Blessings are special ceremonies intended on ushering in positive energy.

I have a daily ceremony to clean away any negative or unsupportive energy that was released during the night and I put up a protective shield of positive energy around the space I live in.  I send a blessing to the well-being of my body and its self-healing. I send a blessing of protection out to the world – for planet Earth and its inhabitants. I do that every day.

I’m going to expand the ceremonies that I use to begin my day. I bless my work in general but I can use more specific phrases than “bless my work”, like “may the words touch hearts and change lives.” I can say, “My body continues to strengthen and support my work in the world.”

How active is your “blessing practice”? Make a conscious choice and make it creative, timely and tune into what’s going on in your life and smooth the pathway with a blessing. See it as a living and powerful door-opener for positive change.

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

I mindfully expand my spiritual practice by offering blessings.

DEEPER SONG PROCESS

  • Create a blessing for your work or anything you share with others. I have a blessing in my books but I am going to begin to consciously bless this newsletter. Even though my intention is to change lives and offer new thoughts, up until now I have not had a ceremony of completion as I send it out.
  • I will get more detailed and creative and imaginative in a blessing that I offer each day.
  • I will consciously set up a protective transformative shield before I go to sleep and in the morning consciously release anything that does not serve me. It will be a ceremony of creating sacred space in which to rest.
  • There are many ways to design a blessing of change. The Solstices and Equinox come to mind. The beginning of each week also deserves a blessing and gratitude.
  • Where will you add blessings?

===INNER WORK===

Deepen Your Inner Awareness

Seek Silence

“In the attitude of silence, the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. “ – Mahatma Gandhi (1869 – 1948)

I could spend more time in contemplative silence. I have an active spiritual practice but I need to spend more time in meditative silence. It’s simply a conscious, aware choice I need to make. Contemplating silence. An empty mind. Space for Spirit to speak to me.  I can do that…

Creating Miracles

The two things that block us from believing we can create miracles are our perception of separateness and the fact that we don’t believe we can create miracles.

Let’s begin with feeling separate.

Close your eyes and put energy around your body and connect with source energy. It is all powerful, ever present, it is who we are. We are light energy expressing ourselves as humans. When we remember our source connection, our source existence, we can touch and change everything. Then it is our responsibility to keep our focus on being light and working for the highest good for all. That is our job. To be light. To radiate out light.

We do that by making certain we live light, as light. It is a matter of conscious choice.

What is a miracle and can we make one?

A miracle is simply something that we often believe we can’t create. Sometimes it is a small shift or experience that feels like a miracle because it was unexpected and unplanned. Miracles often surprise us because they seemed impossible and are often unexpected.

What happens if you changed that belief?  What happens if you started expecting a miracle? Perhaps you’d like to give it a try.

Explore yourself as the light you are and experience your radiant power.

 ===SELF-HEALING===

Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself

Healing With Music

Music can be healing and balancing and stimulating. In David Gibson’s sound healing book he suggests making a personal music list according to these categories:

1.To wake up to

2.To get inspired

3.To calm down or go to sleep

4.To open the heart (without the nostalgia)

5.To connect to Source

6.For learning

7.To be productive mentally and/or physically

8.To meditate

9.Opening your creative channels

10.Helping you to focus on a project

11.Relieving specific pain

12.Working with a specific illness or disease.

You can also categorize your list this way: Is it good for:

1.Grounding

2.Clearing emotions or activating you sensually.

3.Empowering you.

4.Opening your heart.

5.Creativity and expressing your heart or thoughts (also good to tone or sing with).

6.Opening the third eye and accessing your intuition about things.

7. Connecting you to your Soul, Spirit or Source.

I have a number of classical pieces that fit this but Sibelius Violin Concert in D Minor by Camilla Wicks connects me to my soul. And this interpretation of the same piece by Hillary Hann  stirs me to action. If you have a song you like, check out various artists performing it and see how/if it changes your experience.

There are a lot of classical compositions that stir my soul. I will now go and identify them for this list. I will add a little Carol King and Rod McKuen. It will be fascinating to identify and use my personal play list. Will you join me?

I am Capable Of Healing Myself

I have not hard-wired this into my belief system yet but I’m working on it. I am surrounded by western medicine and caring staff but I am left on my own to do the holistic work – which I am doing with enthusiasm.

At the base is my belief in the wholeness of our/my energy. I need to tap that, cultivate that, encourage that and utilize that at all levels.

I am doing several things and the edema in my legs is getting better. We are doing new things on the physical level as members of nursing staff take care of me, but I have to work on the energy plane. I’m sending energy in the form of humming and toning. I’m doing the work. And it’s working.

What does it take for you to heal yourself? Do you need to up your game? Do you believe you are capable of healing yourself and how are you going about doing that?

===OUTER WORK===

Explore New Potential and Possibilities

Are You Living The Life You Want?

And if not, why not?

First you have to know what you want. You get to dream a bit, imagine yourself in different scenarios, try them on to see how they feel and how they fit you. Sometimes spending time to explore some “what ifs” is enough to send you down a new path of exploration.

You are never stuck, you are never locked in. You always have a choice. Go exploring and forge a new path for yourself. Make certain you are living the life you want.  Open yourself up to new adventures – and dip your toe in the water…

Highest Good For All

We must learn to choose the higher good for all.  I watch the Republican politicians ignore the needs of the majority of people in order to cultivate their own need for power.  People who are truly powerful are aligned with the majority of people.  They are flexible and creative. And they are focused on the highest good for all.

Politicians are theoretically caregivers of the people of their districts whether all those people voted for then or not.

Where are the statesmen?

Who are you responsible for caring for? At work? At home?  In your interactions with others?

Schedule Breaks

Adding breaks to stand up and move throughout your day is an incredibly powerful health choice. The “Pomodoro Technique” suggest that you work in focused 20 – 25 minute stints followed by a 3 – 5 minute break.

Set your timer and give yourself a break!

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness

Keep Ceremony In Your Spiritual Practice

As briefly mentioned in the opening of this newsletter, having daily ritual or ceremony in our lives is very important to keep us connected to what really matters. It is also a lovely bridge between the past and the future. We honor what has happened and envision our future. We examine our lessons and adjust our path. It is time to rethink and re-choose and step forward with fresh insights and determination.

Create a ceremony of cleaning and releasing as you begin your day. Develop a ceremony around preparing and eating a meal. Create ceremony around tidying and cleaning your space – arranging it to enhance the space, and organizing and clearing it for proficient use. Create a ceremony around beginning and ending work. Create a ceremony around being with family. A ceremony of being in nature. Walk through your day with ceremony and conscious awareness.

Notice Where Your Choices Have Led You

It is lovely to learn to trust your own path and the choices you made that got you where you are today. I think if we pause to reflect, we will see only valuable lessons that were learned as we made our choices.

Gratitude is a powerful reminder of the gifts we’ve been given and the choices we have made.

=== DEEPER SONG PHILOSOPHIES ===

Live Deliberately

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms…”

― Henry David Thoreau

Live deliberately. Live mindfully. Make your choices with deep awareness and consciousness.

How do you live deliberately? How do you suck out all the marrow of what you find around you so you’re sure you have received its deepest lessons and insights and blessings?

You have to make space in your life. You have to build in pauses in the form of moments of meditation, and by looking out the window and simply being present.

When you savor a meal you eat slowly, you are present with each bite, each taste, and the effect it is having on your body. That’s part of the experience of eating. You eat deliberately. You eat mindfully.

How do you live deliberately? How do you live with an expanded consciousness that allows you to experience all the world has to offer?

You need to slow down. You need to take mindful pauses. You need to be aware. And you need take time to savor each moment of your life.

Stillness open doors. Stillness will help you be present. Stillness works to focus your awareness.

Be still. Be present. Be aware. Be. And listen to the whispers of the universe. It is talking to you.

===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEARERS===

Expand Your Role in the Rapidly Evolving Universe

Stand Steady In Your Own Light

You may not like what I’m going to say here, particularly if you have been married for huge number of years, as in most of your life. But I am an advocate of cycles. A cycle to have a family, a cycle to develop a career, a cycle to develop a different career if you choose. And for me it is always about walking the path alone even if I joined up with someone for a portion of it. So my view is if two people stay together all of their lives, neither one of them will have had the opportunity to reach their full potential because there was always compromise as a couple. They were never free to fully explore and follow their own wisdom and calling. It was always compromise because of a relationship. Some people choose that.

I talked with someone recently who is not in a very good relationship but says she’s 55 and is hesitant to go off and live her own life. The majority of my friends are in their 60s and some are starting new careers or forgetting new paths for themselves. They have another 30 or 40 years to express a new calling and whatever new path or profession they decide to pursue. Some are going into healing, some are teaching. Some are expanding a long, cherished talent.

I am 90 and the role I am playing now as a bridge between Holistic Medicine and Western Medicine is the most important role I’ve had in my entire life. Circumstance brought me here, but probably it was fate and the direction I’ve been going in all my life. You never know when you’re going to step into your personal circle of influence where everything falls into place – your skills, your calling, your gifts, your perfect target audience.  Be ready to step into that. Be ready to let go of the familiar and explore your unique vision and touch the lives and hearts of those who are drawn to your light. Be a beacon. Stand steady in your own light so others can find you.

Your Role As A Wisdom Keeper

Raise Your Sights and Your Expectations

How Do You Share Your Wisdom?

The CEO brought his 15-year-old son in to see the unusual collection of items I use in my spiritual practice. I cheerfully demonstrated my Tibetan Singing Bows and Kalimba and even shared my heart rock with him which he felt in his chest.

I shared with a staff person how much I valued my choice to walk my path primarily alone, allowing the nudges and bops on the head that helped me expand my path.

I share my curiosity and my enthusiasm in this newsletter and one staff person says it is the highlight of her week.

Keep an eye out for when something you say resonates with and impacts another person. Not to keep score, just to become aware of how valuable and impactful your mere presence is. Keep finding new ways to share your wisdom.

===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===

Choose A Way Of Life That Fits Your Personality And Need Not Meet The Needs Of Others

If you were alone in the world without emotional connections or responsibilities, what would you do? How would you express your personality? How would you fulfill your needs? What would you say or do?

Begin with the word “no”. No, I don’t want to do that. No, I don’t want to experience that now. No, I don’t want to go in that direction. No is a very empowering word. You should use it with awareness and determination and a deep sense of power.

If you are involved with others as a parent or a spouse or an offspring, you have made compromises.  Where do you draw the line? How do you draw the line?

What unique gifts or unique lessons do you need to learn? Sometimes they are entwined. We may have an expanded gift of generosity that may allow ourselves to be run over by others.

Where do you draw the line? How do you draw the line?

Begin by noticing what others ask of you the most. It might be time, it might be physical support you are being asked for because you’re willing to give but where do you draw the line? And how do you draw the line?

I don’t think we are brought into this world to subjugate ourselves to the lives of another as a parent or child or spouse. We are here to fulfill our own destiny, to walk our own path.

Part of our responsibility is to not be pulled off course by the needs, demands, and requests and expectations of others.

Unless that’s what we allow ourselves to be.

What is your role? What do you want to do? What do you need to release in order to do that? Do that.

Make sure your way of life, the past you chosen and your interaction with others, fit your personality, your needs, and your overarching calling. Don’t compromise. You have a responsibility to fulfill. Do that.

Watch For The Nudges

The nudges were pretty big and a surprise to me. First the CEO asked me to speak to the leadership team. That totally surprised me but I was glad for the opportunity.

Then I was asked to give a talk to the residents of this long-term care community. I talked on sound healing because I knew it was empowering even for those win low mobility.

I have found myself in conversations about leadership with individuals who are leaders and even a conversation about leaving a non-supported relationship to stand on your own at age 60. I’ve been a bridge to a 15-year-old who held my gray river rock in his hand and said it touched his heart. I have opened new doors of exploration to 19-year-olds who are starting their journey. I have had people who work here say my newsletter is the highlight of their week. I get emails from around the world sharing the way my words have impacted their life, and made them think, and rethink their choices.

This newsletter is full of nudges. I read a phrase or sentence in my email notices and end up writing an entire segment on it in order to figure it out for myself and share it with you.

Call it a nudge, call it an alert, call it an unexpected circumstance or opportunity, or even something someone says that turns you in a whole different direction. These are our nudges from the universe. Pay attention and enjoy them as wisdom being shared for you to consider. Keep an eye out for the nudges of the universe and let them open new doors for you.

Align Your Vibration And Frequency To The Sources Of Life Around You

Be still and listen to the sounds of nature and the messages of peace and serenity it sends to you.

Feel our oneness. Oneness with nature. Oneness with others. Oneness with the planet. Oneness with the Cosmos. Immerse yourself in it. Let yourself rest and restore within the wholeness of that energy and move out into your life restored, replenished, walking in the light of wholeness.

Be in true union with Source. Align your vibration and frequency to the Sources of life around you.

Listen to the tonality and messages and interactions as friends and loved ones ask you to experience their ongoing love and support.

What are your thoughts telling you? What is your body telling you? What are your emotions telling you?

Sometimes it’s a simple matter of tuning in. Other times it seems to take a bop on your head to make you look and listen and reconsider.

Immerse yourself in the experience of being Source – one with All-That-Is. Experience our oneness. Experience the collective energy. Align yourself with the highest energy, the highest good for all and let it guide you through life.

Listen With Your Heart

When we begin to listen with our hearts rather than our heads, our whole world changes and becomes softer.

What is that person feeling underneath her words, and how can I touch her heart? What is she not saying that is still unspoken?

Listen with your heart to what their heart is trying to express. Perhaps you help them clarify their feelings. Perhaps you don’t. Perhaps you just listen. Then they can heal themselves and achieve their unspoken desires.

Listen deeply. Listen from that soul place of interconnectedness. Listen with your heart and experience our oneness.

===OUR EVOLVING FUTURE===

Support and Encouragement for our Unfolding Role in the Future

Your Work Ahead

We are to build our life on our Light Within. As we do, our light in the world grows brighter. That light attracts others who recognize their own light within and turn and share it with others. As more and more people recognize the power of their light and stay centered in it and share it with others, our whole world shifts.

What needs to change in your life?

Spend more time with people living in light and learn from them. Become a beacon in your own right. Focus on raising the vibration of your own personal choices. We are One. Feel that. Be that. Live that.

=== ===THE UNFOLDING DIVINE FEMININE=== ===

Explore and Interpret the Guidance and Messages of the Divine Feminine

The Divine Feminine Is about Inclusiveness

There is a lot of hatred in my country, hatred of the ideas of other people, hatred of their race, their culture, their sexual orientation, their mere existence.

I don’t know why it is there other than feeling inferior and not knowing what to do about it. These people are using Christianity to spread hatred. That makes no sense. I’m very holistic in my spirituality but I was Christian once and ‘love the neighbor as thyself” was and is a core doctrine.

What is happening? Why is hatred so core to the functioning of the entire group of people?

I believe in inclusiveness just as much as they believe in separateness. To look at this from the perspective of the emergence of the Divine Feminine, I know that inclusiveness is core to her work. Somehow this circumstance is making us choose. We must choose to be inclusive or we must choose hatred – which truly separates us from our hearts. It looks like a pretty easy choice to me. But apparently not to some others.

This is an evolutionary process but what will make them change their mind? And maybe that’s not even what we are supposed to do. Maybe we are just to continue living in light with as much inclusiveness and generosity in our own heart that we can manage. Those who are living in the light will see it and respond. Those who do not see it or care about it or resonate to it will let it pass by.

What is your path in life? Open your inclusive heart and let your choices and actions and words reflect your feelings of deep inner connection with others and All That Is. Be the light you are, so others will see that and recognize it in themselves. Keep shining.

===INTENTION BLESSING===

May we hear and heed the call of the Divine Feminine.

May we expand our hearts and our expectations.

May we walk the Path of Light with a sure foot.

May we keep our gaze on the summit.

May we take this journey with a full heart.

I entwine my light with yours as we move forward to guide the way.

===CARA’S CORNER===

The Energy You Keep Around You

I have a rather small desk but one of the things I have enthusiastically and lovingly made room for is the gray river rock that is a bridge to my heart chakra. In a small container, I have a crystal that speaks very strongly to my eyes. As someone with a fair amount of crystals, these are the ones that I choose to speak to and hold and be with several times a day.

My space is small and I can turn in my office chair and be with my crystals and my drums and my flutes. It is one dynamic end of my physical space filled with empowering energy.

If you were to expand your spiritual practice, what would you do? What would you add? When would you add it into your day?

Rearrange the space you spend time in. That could mean meditation space. It could mean a desk space. That could mean a look out the window space. Whatever elements you have in your spiritual practice, make sure they are supportive of what you need to do and how you need to do it.

I pick up my gray river rock many times throughout my day to center and focus myself in my heart. I pick up my merkaba crystal to heal my eyesight and expand my third eye and to take me more deeply into the spiritual realms for insights and guidance.

Check out the energy where you spend the most time – the energy around your workspace, around your bed, any place else that you spend time in the surrounding energy. See what needs to be changed, and experiment until you find the right configuration to support your intention for the space.

Are you nurtured by the energy you keep around you? Perhaps change or rearrange it. Put the energy of your room and your possessions and your intentions to work around you.

===SING A DEEPER SONG ===

Sacred Objects
