My Three Words for 2021 – Deep Listening, Exploration, Unfolding

My Three Words for 2021 – Deep Listening, Exploration, Unfolding

Creating Conscious Connection

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

Goals are good and goals can be overwhelming.  I’m a go-with-the-flow person. I rely almost exclusively on my inner voice to guide me in the moment.

However, identifying an over-arching theme might be a good idea.  Chris Brogan suggests we choose three words for the year.   I have done that for a lot of years. Here are the three words I have chosen for this year.

Deep Listening. Since my work is unfolding, the first focus for the coming year that I choose is Deep Listening.  That means moving to my Still Point multiple times throughout my day to let go of my human thoughts and sit in silent serenity.  I am learning that I don’t have to make decisions other than in the moment. I just let my inner nudges show up and I explore where they take me.

Exploration is my second word for the year.  I feel pretty certain that most of what I offer is going to come from my inner work, my journeys, and my unexpected insights. That means I am to stay aware, move into deep listening, and when a nudge shows up, I am to take time to examine and explore – a little or a lot, depending on how I feel about the topic of the moment.  Here I go adventuring…

Unfolding.  I started to chose “change” but this is such a huge period of change. Then I considered “evolution” which seems huge. But in this dramatic and rapidly changing world, I can only sit in thoughtful awareness and listen to my inner voice guide me to my next steps.  I let life unfold and shape things as they come.

Deep Listening, Exploration, Unfolding.

What three words will you chose to open up new portals for you this year?

DEEPER SONGS I EXPLORED THIS MONTH

Life Lessons from a Lump of Clay

Sometimes it seems like there is no rhyme nor reason why our lives are the way they are or how we turned out the way we did.  But there is.  There are choices and beliefs and interactions that created our path, our journey. We are exactly where we should be considering what we thought and did.

There are many circumstances that are pushing and shoving and moving and shaping our lives.  It helps to think about some of them and where they might lead.

Cara Lumen, spiritual philosopher and founder of the Deeper Song Community is a cosmic explorer who consciously travels into the unseen world to serve as a bridge to help us expand our relationship with the spiritual world. She shares what she learns and guides us to the next level so we can sing a deeper song.

Rediscovery

I drew the oracle card “Rediscovery” on the first of this new year and I am thinking about what that might mean.  I will look for gifts I have that I have left by the wayside.  I will look for ideas that organically fell into second place along the road.  And I’m going to look at what I can repurpose in this rapidly changing new world. In this moment, I only have a vague feeling about what that will be. And it may not be a tangible step.  It may be introspective work, an expanded spiritual practice, even a review of something I used to do from my present viewpoint of what is unfolding.

What will you rediscover?  Go exploring and look in all the corners….

Our Inner Strength

“When things fall apart around you, you’re really left with what you’ve developed inside you.”- Rick Hanson, Ph.D.

I stopped to consider what I have developed inside me that keeps me moving inward and upward.

I have a deep and varied pattern of spiritual practices.  I am mindfully moving to my Still Point more often during my day to encourage moments of deep tranquility and introspection.

I have taken what may be an intuitive proactive step as I become clear what my role is in humanity today.  I am not an in-person, interactive contributor to the well-being of our world. My work is to help us raise our vibration.  My work is in the inner world, where I explore and interpret and share what I figure out.  But my main job, my core work is with vibration – learning to raise our vibration with conscious awareness and encouraging those who can hear the message to do the same.  Not everyone will hear this call, but as we each move more deeply into our role as Light Beings, others will recognize it in themselves and make the choice to consciously join us.

There are many things I cannot and am not meant to do on the physical plane.  So I focus on what I have developed inside and share that.

What have you got going for you?  What do you need to add to your life pattern that would expand and elevate your experience and your place of service?  What is not yours to do? Let that go.  Keep building your strength within and rely on your inner voice.

***OUTER WORK***

How are you Nurturing Yourself and What do you Need to Change?

We slip into destructive patterns without realizing it.  I have been watching too much news and it finally caught up with me.  I very much enjoy the fabulous minds and incredible vocabulary of cable news, but the subject matter has been like watching a horror movie.  Even with change in sight, and hope on the horizon, I was being drawn deeper and deeper into despair. It even manifested a feeling of depression over the holidays – and I have never been depressed in my life.

Finally, I made a major change.  There are wonderful music channels on my TV.  I love both classical music and New Age and my life has been woefully short on both.  Until now.

What kind of habits have you fallen into that you need to break?

It easy to identify habits you would like to create. But what habits do you have that are doing you harm? And how will you change that?

Use Music to Heal

Music is a powerful vibration.  It can soothe you and challenge you and lift you up.  Music comes from the soul of the composer and the musician – a gift from them to you. Go exploring into musical venues you have only dabbled in before and see where it leads you.  I will explore jazz more.  I like it very much but it seems to be third on my list.  There is a difference between light classical music and classical music. Composers really give it to you in classical music.  It can be very demanding. And stirring. And motivating.  It makes you feel like you should rise up and go take on something big. Light classical feels a bit more joyous and less demanding.  I get to choose to fit my mood and my need.

Focus on an instrument you love to hear. I’m a cello fan and a saxophone fan – both low, mellow sounds.  I play the native flute and have played the piano in the past.  And I have sung in lots of quartets and choral groups.  Odd that I let music slip out of my life.

I have 8 drums but seem focused on two, a buffalo drum I made in a workshop 30 years ago and a small djembe from Africa.  There is something very freeing and releasing about drumming.

Notice the vibrations you allow into your life. Notice what you listen to and how it affects you.  Silence is good too. It has a healing sound of its own.  Humming as a focused vibration is healing. Making up songs is liberating and creative.

Make a rattle out of popcorn in an empty spice jar.  Make a drum out of the bottom of an empty plastic container and experiment with your own rhythms. There is a way to play two spoons!

How are you spending your downtime and are you aware  of how it affects you?

Make conscious changes that include adding more sound experience to your life and notice the difference it makes.

Make Room for Change and then Wait for It!

There is nothing more powerful than making room for change and then waiting to see what shows up.  I eased up on my publication schedule and in the space that was cleared by that choice I continue to find new ideas and opportunities now that they have room to make themselves known.

How do you invite change in?  Sitting in silence with no expectation is a powerful place to begin.

***DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE***

Deepen Your Spiritual Practice Through Art

We get so caught up in our words that we get tangled up in them and ultimately find we are limited by them.  Sometimes real clarity comes when we use art to explore our feelings, our thoughts, our inner world. What words cannot describe, drawing can.

I do pencil drawings of my journeys. Not all of them, but when I do take time to draw images from what I see, it clarifies and broadens my understanding of my journey.  And when I revisit the drawing, the whole journey pops back into my mind. I keep my drawings in sheet protectors in a binder.

You could use art to describe your feelings or to explore an idea for a project. My drawings have stick figures and signs that point to wavy lined paths.  When in doubt about what the image is meant to be, I add a label…! Drawing your idea provides a new way to look at it and explore its possibilities.

You could doodle or paint, cut out paper figures, use clay or finger painting or crayons.  Every color has a message, just choose colors that call to you and perhaps write words on your paper that pull up the images from your experience of the thought you want to capture.

Find other ways to explore your thoughts besides words. It will open up new depths of understanding.

***DEEPER SONG  INSIGHTS ***

The Question that Heals

“How are you doing?” my friend inquired in an email.  I sat down to answer her and uncovered insights and awareness that helped me heal myself. All because my friend knew I had had a rough time and cared enough to ask how I was doing.

When you listen, when you offer other people the gift of your caring presence, it opens up space for them to go within and find the core of their imbalance.  Through their self-awareness, self-healing occurs.

How are you doing? I’m listening.

Purpose and Intention versus Unfolding

The article said, “Begin the year with purpose and intention.” And it immediately felt forced to me.  I’m an unfolding kind of gal.  Now that doesn’t mean I don’t set objectives for myself, I do, but they are broad, not detailed and I’m just not very attached to them – I let them unfold. I go with the flow.  I’m pretty relaxed about when I do them or if I do them.  I tune in to what I am in the mood to do and then do that.

That’s pretty casual, right?  How do I get things done? I listen to my inner voice and respond in the moment.  And I am aware of the results of my choices and change those choices as seems appropriate.

Choose, act, evaluate.  Repeat. That’s how I let things unfold.

***OUR EVOLVING FUTURE***

What is Your Role?

I’ve been listing to a lot of classical music lately and it makes me think of the long path to becoming a professional musician.

There are very few solos in an orchestra. But the ones I have been hearing are heart-stirringly beautiful.  That means that person has spent hours and hours and hours learning to play that well.

What is your role?  Are you to be a core member of a group?  A soloist in an orchestra?  A performing artist in your own right?  Or do you just love to play music?  What is your role in life – soloist, conductor, member of the ensemble or a joyful player of music for yourself?  Whatever level you are, you bring with it joy, commitment and love of music.

Looking back over my life, I have been in ensemble groups that created an experience I could not have done alone – quartets, choirs, the cast of a play.  And I have worked diligently and consistently to hone my own individual skills.

But my role now is as a member of a much larger group –  the growing ensemble of conscious seekers who are working together to raise the  vibration of our planet.

This is a time of change.  Our role is changing.  The opportunities are changing.

Look back over your life for the signs and signals and the opportunities you did or did not take, and notice the choices that led you to where you are now.  You have the power to change direction by changing your choices.

I have spent a large portion of my life writing – both professionally and perennially.  What gift weaves its message throughout your life?

Know what is driving your life and your life choices. What is your role and how are you going to fulfill it?

Message from the Sacred Earth Cards

Revolution

I drew this card “Revolution” for myself this week and had to go to the oracle book that came with the cards in order to discover it is about cycles.  Revolving cycles. Expanding and waning cycles. We are always in some stage in multiple cycles.  They intertwine, and ebb and flow, and our life changes.  On the card, a woman is holding a lotus in a globe.  A lotus is rooted in mud below the surface, and its awesome flower rises to the surface to share its beauty with the world.  Be aware of the mud that nurtures you.  Be aware of the multiple cycles you are in and see if you can understand and take advantage of where you are in each cycle.

I am in a cycle that is changing my offerings.  It is affecting the frequency, the form, and what I write about.  I am in another cycle with my body – a sort of uncomfortable  straightening of my body as I release something I have not identified.  I am in a cycle of introspection, focused on raising my vibration and understanding my next steps. All three cycles are underway simultaneously.

Let your life unfold, but pay attention to the revolving stages of increase and decline in each cycle.  Allow yourself to evolve into the New Consciousness.

CARA’S CORNER

Follow Your Nudges

Amazing answers show up when you stay still and listen.

As suddenly as I got interested in Astrology, I am just as suddenly putting it aside. Or, at least not exploring it more deeply and giving it a lesser role in my own exploration. I have an over-arching intention.  I will follow that and it will show me what I need to do, what I need to consider next.

A shift happened when I was writing the opening article. The Deeper Song Process became a list of podcasts and posts that depend on the experience of the topic of the article, and I understood that is another way to help you explore more deeply, that it enriches what I offer.

I created a slightly different format for this newsletter and it is helping me focus on what I offer. It up-levels the content and helps me make more focused choices about what to include.

We are to go exploring more deeply together.  I have no real idea what that will look like, but I know I can go deeper and explore further afield and we will expand our consciousness together.

What I invite you to do is to follow your inner voice, your nudges, and explore what calls to you.  Be selective, be aware of what is calling you, and when you start exploring, notice how what you are learning and experiencing resonates.  Use your response to guide your steps.

We are taking a turn in the path here. We will end up in a new place, a new space of opportunity.  We just have to pay attention to the guideposts along our path – and choose each step with awareness.

How to Reframe to Get Better Results

Adventures in the Unseen World

This was a huge, life-changing discovery. Change is as simple as reframing how you see it. That means all you have to do is reframe the perceived problem in order to get different results.

What needs to change – could it be me?

My passion lies in philosophical writing. Not in cleaning my home.

My passion lies in the creativity of my mind and its amazing discoveries – not in the strength of my body.

I was beating myself up for not making some basic things happen. Did I not clean my home better because I was lazy, or it is a tad harder than it used to be, or that I really didn’t care? I was trying to change me so I could change my behavior.

It wasn’t working.

Was the reason I was not willing to develop a regular form of exercise because I’m not very interested in exercise or because I’d rather write (yes) or I’m lazy?

I looked very hard to see what needed to change in me so I could change my actions.

Change how you see the problem

It turns out that when I shifted the purpose of what I was doing, I shifted my attitude.

It created major change.

The shift began when I started to look at my choices and motivation differently.  Why was I doing or not doing whatever it was?

I began with my lack of motivation for cleaning my home.

I love all the crystals I keep around me and I bet they would be really happy to be damp wiped more often and handled more frequently.

Crystals, yes I could do that, but the kitchen floor? What did I need to shift in how I viewed caring for my home in order to create a shift in me?

See your home as sacred space

In my daily mediation, I think of various areas of my home as a sacred space. I care for them.  I occupy them with awareness.

What if I saw my entire home as sacred space!!!  Now that would certainly create a change in my willingness and attitude toward caring for it. My home is my sacred chamber for safety and well-being. Of course I want to keep a sacred chamber clean and cared for.

See how this works?

Shift how you perceive the task you with to accomplish.  Reframe it until you feel the shift in your willingness.

My body needed help

The same resistance I have felt toward caring for my home extended to my body. Caring for it, as in keeping it strong, was not very interesting or meaningful to me. It was not a priority.  I knew I needed to move my body more in order to help it be stronger and more flexible, but I kept putting off the things that would help that happen.

Until, like my home, I changed how I viewed it. I reframed how I held my body and it changed my actions.

My body is sacred space

When I began to perceive my body as sacred space, it immediately and dramatically changed my willingness to care for it.  Of course, my body is sacred. It is home for my soul.  I need to care for it as such.

Finding the form of exercise I am to do to strengthen my body is not about me, it’s about what my body temple will appreciate and thrive on. It’s the food and drink I offer it, the activities I choose to do that stimulate and motive and are simply enjoyable.

It’s not about me, it’s about my body and how I see its value in my life.  How I honor its service. How I care for its sacred space.

I change my perception and it changes my choices. And my willingness.

It’s not about chaining you, it’s about changing how you view what you are doing

How do you perceive how you contribute to the world? Do you see it as valuable?  Do you see your work as sacred? Can you see the impact your particular task has on the whole? Are you doing what you need to do to share your gifts with the world?

I write because my mind demands I go exploring.  But I must make certain that I publish my posts and newsletter and podcasts so there is a chance what I have discovered will be of value to someone else.  It’s only partially about how much I cherish and enjoy writing.  It’s also that what I learn and share effects and serves and supports someone else. We must share our gifts for that is why we were given them.

I write for self-discovery, but when I share what I discover I am in service to others in the world. And that is even more important. When I shift my view of my overarching purpose, I change my actions.

All thing are vibration and they vibrate back to you

My hone is vibration.  My body is vibration. My intention is vibration. And vibration affects vibration.  Vibration has impact. It tends to move toward an aligned harmony.  I get to look at the vibration I am putting out into my life.

Your home soaks up the energy you bring into it and reflects it back to you. You are the initiator of the energy you want to have in your life   And if you listen closely, your home will also tell you what it needs to make the space more nurturing for you.

Your body gives you many signals about what it wants and needs. You have only to listen. And respond.

Keep listening. And change your own vibration by changing how you view your participation, your acts of service, and your impact.

Live in a state of aware gratitude

I am truly grateful for my home. It is shelter, it is nurturing. I want to give some of that back.

I am very grateful for my body and because I truly want to stay active, I get to find ways to nurture and provide its desire to stay strong and healthy.

Move through your home with appreciation – for the way it serves and supports you. Honer your body with the care it needs to stay strong.

Both your body ad your home are sacred spaces.

Treat them as such.

What do you need to reframe in order to shift your actions and thus the outcome?

Deeper Song Affirmation

I reframe how I view areas of my life and make changes that honor them.

A Deeper Song Process

  • Notice what part of your life you are neglecting.
  • Identity how that part of your life serves you.
  • Change how you view its value and service in your life.
  • Let that new way of seeing it change how you care for it.
  • Honor it, care for it, nurture it
  • Repeat and increase your awareness.

Dance With the Harmonies Within

August 23, 2020 By Cara Lumen

Dance With the Harmonies Within

Insights Of A Deeper Song

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

In stillness you will hear it.  In nature, you will be aware of it.  Your intuition is one of its voices. We each have harmonies within us, and we are each to play our own tune to those harmonies.

But first we listen.

Wha is the rhythm of your day? If you have control over the rhythm, what do you want it to be – how fast, how slow, how stimulating, how restful?  We get to choose our rhythm and we use our inner voice to hear the harmonies within us and respond to them.

There is structure in the harmonies we hear within.  There is a beginning, a middle  and an end. There is a crescendo and a decrescendo.  There is phasing with alternating soft notes and bright notes, fast notes and slow notes. We have but to listen and we will be able to dance to our inner harmony.

We are to find our own balance. We cannot dance jigs all day, and we need to cultivate moments of stillness, of awareness, of inner peace.  We need balance in our inner rhythms.

We are to write our own composition each day.   We are to compose our own score and we are to perform our unique composition.

How do you choose the tone for tour day?  Do you wake up with time to luxuriate in preparing your body for its day, time to meditate, or move your body in gratitude for its strength?  Perhaps you put those experiences later in your day.  Where you put them is not as important as that you do indeed find time for these rhythms of self-care – the inner and the outer.

Breath sets the tone, the rhythm, the mood.  It is a way to find stillness and centeredness in a given moment. Get in the habit of taking several conscious, centering breaths after completing a task and before tuning to a new one.  Perhaps identify specific times during your day when you tun and look out the window at be with nature, even if all you can see is a little sky and a wandering cloud.   Take a moment to be that cloud, floating carefree in space.  Perhaps pause for a mindful stretching of your body to remind it of its strength and power and flexibility.  We get to sprinkle these moments of centering throughout your day.  Where are you putting your moments of serenity,  your moments of awareness, a pause to honor your body?  Each moment spent on self-centering creates more balance in all other areas of your day.  Begin with breathing. Use mindful breathing to find stillness. Then see what is suggested from that quiet place.

Pay attention to what you are to leave out, what you need to add, and notice how replenishing the steps you do take are. Adjust as desired.

It takes only a moment of stillness to open the door to the new awareness.  Choose those moments often and see how differently your day unfolds.

We begin with our senses in mindful stillness.  What do you want your day to feel like, to look like?  What are those experiences for you?  I want today to be a series of flowing and southing energies that leave in their wake great productivity of enormously unique quality. You know, start with the simple stuff.

Move into stillness. After I capture that first draft I can move into stillness. After reading my email I can pause to breathe and center myself for my day.  I can pause and tune into my inner self and see what calls to me to do next.   When I leave my desk for a break I thank my inner self for its creativity and guidance and for encouraging me to be ready for the next cycle of movement and choice.

Listen to what you are given, what thoughts, what ideas what new circumstances.  Contemplate them, observe them, adjust them, and see where and how and if you want to add any of them to your day.

I am going to add more still points in m day, each time I sit at my desk I will pause to ask my inner voice what I am to do next.   Each time I stop what I am doing, I offer gratitude for what has unfolded so far.  I just sit and listen and receive and then I act.  That’s how I listen to my inner voice. That’s how I listen to the Harmonies within.  That’s how I dance my inner calling.  I move to my still point and listen.

In a shamanic journey, my guide said, “ Listen within. Listen to the harmonies within, the structure within, the balance within.  And write your own musical score. Rehearse it, strengthen it  Perform it.”

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

I consciously take moments to move within during my day and make choices from the wisdom and insights it offers.

DEEPER SONG PROCESS

  • Notice the moments of stillness you have created in our day.
  • Notice how you feel when you move into that stillness with a deeper awareness.
  • Add moments of purposeful contemplation to find our point of stillness.  Let everything else be laid aside.  Simply be.  Go where your inner voice takes you.
  • Pause for moments of thoughtful awareness throughout your day.

Inner Work

DEEPEN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD

I’ve been a vegetarian for 40 years and a vegan for 8.  I know to give thanks for the people who grow the food and the people who brought it to me, but I’m going to add another ritual to my meal preparation – a ritual of asking permission.

The Indian cultures know to bless the spirit of the animal that gives its life for their food and shelter.  I don’t know for certain, but I imagine they blessed a tree before they cut it down for a fire or a structure. They are very attuned to the voices of nature. I have often thought about the spirit of a plant. I know they heal us.  I know they are willing to be made into other things like a tree becomes a house and a branch becomes a native flute. But I have never created a ritual around consuming a living plant in order to simply nourish myself.

I’m not even certain what it wold look like, but I like the idea.

It is about transforming energy so I might thank my carrot or my tomato for its willingness to transform its energy into my energy and perhaps share with it what we will do together.  Food wants to be useful too.

I’m going to make some potato soup today.  I will thank the potato and the onions and whatever else I put into it and perhaps even tell them the plans I have for the energy we create together.

How will you honor the food you eat?

Outer Work

CHOOSE TO CHANGE

We have an outstanding opportunity in this changing environment to reposition ourselves.  Who do you want to serve?  What do they need that you can offer?  How effective is this choice?

Who do you want to serve?

Do you want beginner or advanced?  That’s a huge first choice.  I want to move pro-active, curious, evolved people forward so we both travel together. Do you want to work with people who are struggling, or people at a timing point to success, or help successful people fly higher?  What do you want to help people do?

What do they need that you can offer?

I personally want to keep exploring the Unseen World so that’s what I want to share. I have written a lot of posts and podcasts on personal growth concepts so I have begun a curation segment in this newsletter to support that part of our journey.  And I have to keep an eye on the changing world and see what I need to address there.

How can you help? What do they need what do you want to provide?

How effective is this choice?

We also want to earn money in all this.  So part of our decision for the kind of change we will make, is how it provides the basics we need.  How has your idea of “basics” changed right now?

Go exploring

As we deal with this evolving change, new businesses are goiter to appear.  Some businesses are going to no longer exist.  As New  York Governor Andrew Como said, “Think outside the box. There is no box.”

What would your like your world to look like?  How do you see your role?

But most of all, who do you want to serve? Begin there.

TRAVELER

By Antonio Machado

TRAVELER – Video

Traveler, your footsteps are the road

There is nothing more.

Traveler there is no road

The road is made by walking.

Walking makes the road.

And if you turn around you only see the path you can never walk again.

Traveler, there is no road, only a trace of foam upon the sea.

Shared by Deeper Song Community Member Mary Elaine Kiener, RN, PhD

As a person with a lot of footsteps behind her, this poem made me cry.  We have only this moment and this one.  This is where we live, not back there, or in what’s ahead. The past is dissolving behind us and we have only to choose our next step.

Step with awarenss.  Step with purity of choice.  That next step is what matters most.  It becomes your path.

WHEN THE TIMING IS RIGHT

When the student is ready, the teacher appears.  Trust that.  Look around at what is showing up and see if it is for you.  If it is the right time for you to explore that particular direction.

Exploring is a key step to moving forwards and it has to go hand in hand with discernment.  Does this really call to you?  Does this call deeply enough to you?  DO I already have enough knowledge on that particular subject?

I mentioned that last year I thought sound healing was going to be an emphasis for me.  It’s not, it is only a part of what I do now.   Trust the evolution of your interest. Study what calls to you and periodically pause to see where that path has led you and see if it is still going the dire ion you want to go.

And look for your next teacher.  She/he is ready when you are ready.

FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM

The copy for the class said, “Tight hamstrings and weak hip flexors are the cause of many people’s lower back problems and body stiffness, but it’s also the area that many people overlook when stretching.”

I realized that for all the fussing I’ve been doing about my posture, I had not focused on the core weakness.  It changed my approach to correcting my posture.

What is out of balance in your life or your body?  What is the cause of your imbalance? It is not going to be the obvious, it’s going to call for deeper exploration.

I actually know where the hip flexors and hamstrings are.  They play a strong roll in the mobility of your hips.  I’m not going to take this class because it calls for a mat and I can barely do bed yoga, but I will go exploring and find moves I can do.

Give change time to manifest.  This course also called for 15 minutes a day fo exercise.  That undoubtedly means warm-up and challenge and cool down.  It’s the ask-more-of-your body part that I need to do better at doing.

Strengthen your foundation.  Strengthen your core.  Whether it is your body or a skill set you need for your work, get better at it.  Keep learning, keep practicing, keep challenging yourself.

THOROUGHLY PLEASING

In Chris Brogan’s newsletter, he wrote, “Imagine thoroughly pleasing several hundred people. Or a thousand. And that being enough.”

I really like the idea of “thoroughly pleasing” a few hundred people.  I feel I am doing that and that allows me to take you on an ever-deepening journey.  I get to listen and respond to you and let newcomers come in as they are called to a particular aspect.

“Thoroughly pleasing.”   That means shining light on your path that helps you see all the possibilities. It means offering you tools that make the journey easier.  It means exploring various side roads and reporting back in case you too are interested.  It means that whatever I offer enriches your life experience and offers you insights that raise your sights and their expectations.

“And let that be enough.”

That shifts my focus.  Rather than focusing on the task of drawing more people in, I get to focus on where I  am guiding the people who have found me.  It makes me feel content and joyous that I am touching the lives I am meant to in a meaningful way.

How are you “thoroughly pleasing” the people you serve?

DO THE NEXT RIGHT THING

When you come up against a stuck place, stop, take a deep breath, and do the next right things.

What are your choices?   What are you to do?  Not what looks like will happen, but what is present, in front of you rings now.  Do you leave? Do you stay?  Do you let go?  Do you draw it closer? Do you simply go within and wait until an answer appears?

What is the next right thing for you to do?

YOUR PANDEMIC HOBBY

What are you doing with all this time you now have? Or this rearranged time you now have?  Do you have a new hobby? Are you following a longed-for passion?

My passion is not cooking but I am working on upgrading how I feed myself.

I am improving my mind by continuing to get better at editing in GarageBand.

I am nurturing my inner self in many ways – my flutes in particular.

I could read some of those books that await me.  I could learn to use my phone better and my tablet.  I could sketch my journeys more often.

What do you want to learn? It doesn’t make any difference what the outcome is, learning is the fun part.

Is there some hobby you want to share with those you live with?  Build a bird house and paint it. Learn to knit. Or crochet. Or bake. Or can.  It doesn’t have to be practical, it just has to be about learning something new.

I’m glad I can entertain myself with my mind. We have stellar times together.

What new skills do you want to develop? I remember watching about 20 hours of tutorial on creating a podcast by Pat Flynn. (He still offers it)  I recently watched videos on editing in GarageBand and chair exercises for hip flexors.  I could learn to listen to an audiobook. I’m very much a visual learner but maybe I could actually listen to a fictional story for a change.  That would be novel.

I have over 150 crystals that would all love to talk to me individually.  I want to create some new patterns around cleaning and exercising.  And reaching my point of stillness, and connecting with nature and…

How are you entertaining yourself with this new pattern of time?

IS YOUR WORK MEANINGFUL?

Or is it just a paycheck?  Whatever your work, it needs to nurture you and nourish you and motivate you and inspire you and give you a sense of accomplishment when it is complete.

Don’t settle.  I moved to New  York with what I thought was an intention to pursue theater. That meant I did temp work so in case I got acting work, I could leave.  Boy was that about settling.  I could type 80 words a minute (that’s fast) but all I was doing was copying someone else’s work.  No, it was not satisfying.  It was not until I begin to learn energy work like Reiki that my life took on great meaning, regardless of how I brought in the income.

Follow your heart. This is an incredible, and very challenging time to find the work of your heart.

What will you do to make your work more meaningful?

OUR EVOLVING FUTURE

Use what you have. Because this is senior housing we have access to a food bank delivery once a month.  We never know what will be delivered. I get big bags of apples and potatoes and onions.  I have to get creative on how I use them.

I am going to make soups and freeze them. I am going to make chop up vegetable combinations for stir-fries and freeze those.  That means that I have to spend some time chopping and freezing but I will be able to use it all.

So here’s what I am learning.  Applesauce can be made with three ingredients in 25 minutes and it can be frozen!!!!  All I have to do is spend an hour chopping up this with bag of apples and I’m set.

The point is that when you take time to get creative and put in  little time you will save a LOT of money.

Explore your seasonings and cook with what appeals to you.  Chop and freeze so you have a good selection.

KEEP PRACTICING

One thing about practicing, you get better at what you are doing.  In one day, this week, I recored two podcasts and edited one.  I would have edited two but I hit some button I should not have in Garage Band and had to go study some tutorials. It thankfully self-corrected when I opened up garage Band a second time.  However,  I have no clue what to do if it happens again beause I have no idea what I did to cause it.  I’ll just be more careful when I set it up and push only the buttons I know.

The sense of accomplishment was huge.  I am ahead of my scheduled.  That takes some pressure off.  So I will keep planing on doubling up on recording and editing.

I recored better so the editing is easier.  As the speaker I have learned to make a clear pause around a mistake because as an editor, space gives me room to edit.

Be patient with yourself but keep on practicing.  It does get easier – and easier.

DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE

The Yoga practice of alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana) offers instant centering and calmness.

  • Sit up straight, eyes closed, and close your right nostril with your right thumb.
  • Slowly inhale through your left nostril.
  • Close your left nostril with your ring finger and briefly pause.
  • Open your right nostril, and release your breath slowly through the right side.
  • Pause at the bottom of the exhale and then repeat on the right side.
  • Alternate this breathing pattern, 5-10 cycles.

CARA’S CORNER

Nurture Stillness in Your life

“Nurture” means “to care for, to encourage growth.” How do nurture stillness in our life?

How do you experience stillness?

You stop what you are doing.  You quiet your mind, perhaps with long long slow breaths and you turn and look out at nature.  And emerge yourself in that ebb and flow that is at the core of everything.

Stillness is about being still but it can also be a moment to change your rhythm.  For instance, I often stop to play my flutes.  Their vibration centers me.  I look out the window and play to the branches of my birch treen dancing in the wind.

I may take a shamanic journey to listen more closely to my voice within.

Lately, I have learned to go deeper.  It has come with practice and a willingness to let go of what I am doing and what I am thinking.  In particular, for me, it means to quiet my mind.

I use a series of quieting conscious beaches.  Focusing on my breath quiets my mind and my body.

The secret is to do a centering process often during your day. Sometimes that means a change in activities, sometimes it means the prompt is the hands on the clock. The catch is to remember to do it – to pause, to notice where you are, and to connect with our place in nature.

I plan to get better at this. I keep looking for reminders. I keep experimenting with how to achieve that inner stillness.

Stop now and breathe in to the court of 5, hold for a count of 5 and exhale for a count of five.  Repeat 3-5 times until you have stilled your awareness of the world and are firmly centered in stillness.

The Vibration Behind Your Beliefs

July 29, 2020 By Cara Lumen

The Vibration Behind Your Beliefs

Adventures in the Unseen World

There are two underlying beliefs that you may hold that will greatly influence the outcome.  What you believe you deserve and what you believe is possible.  Both of those beliefs have very, very strong vibrations and will have a powerful impact on the outcome.

Self worth is tied into what you believe you deserve

The vibration you put forth by the beliefs you hold about your own value hugely impact what you draw to you, what you accept, and what you attract. If you participate from a sense of self-worth, value, being a worthy contributor, that’s exactly what you will offer.  Others will see it, accept it, and welcome it.

All of that comes from your belief in your own self worth.

Manifestation comes with the belief in possibilities

Closely linked to your sense of worthiness is the idea that what you want, desire, choose will in fact happen.  That it is possible.

If you can dream it you can do it.  If you want it and believe you deserve it, you can have it.

Don’t let your human mind limit what you experience just because you can’t think of a way for something to happen.  Just move over and give space for the Universe to do her work.

How do you shift your beliefs?

If your beliefs are causing the negative vibrations behind your life experiences, how do you change them?

Sometimes you have to look very deeply to even identify the cause of your dis-belief.

But in order to release the unwanted beliefs, you don’t even have to know they exist because, you can just affirm, “I now release whatever is keeping me from believing in my own value.’” Intention is everything.

Leave room for something bigger to come in

Dreaming big calls for making room for something big to come in. It takes some practice.  You do have to feel you are worthy of the big dream. You do have to believe it can happen. The Universe can do anything – so mix a lot of trust into your visioning, into your expectation.

I don’t have a big picture going about selling lots of books.  But I do have a picture of having something I write shift someone’s life to make an important and valuable difference.

And I will probably never know it happens.

So I have to operate out of the power of my intent to change the lives of others and the belief that whoever needs to know of the insights embodied in my work, will find them.

How to change beliefs that no longer serve you

In order to change beliefs that no longer serve you, you have to realize that you are stuck. Try to identify what is holding you back.  If you don’t know, you can still go on an inner journey in your imagination and ask your helping spirits to help you release those beliefs that no longer serve you. Lay them by the wayside, bury them in the ground, release them to the sky.  Let them go in whatever way works for you.

Then in your body suit life, become more contemplative and give both space and time for the new guidance to come in.

When the new ideas begin to appear, try them on for size.  Expand on them a bit to examine the possibilities. There are no limitations in the looking. Where would you like to take that idea, that action?  Keep discarding any beliefs that hold you back so that you can go adventuring in your imagination to see the greater possibilities in each choice.

Look for the potential  Look for your call to action.  Follow that path.

Don’t just believe – KNOW IT!!!

I know in my heart that my writing is helping people I don’t even know to make meaningful changes in their lives.  So the vibration behind my work is that I need to do it for my own understanding and I have a very strong need to share it with others.  And there is no attachment to whether others use it our not, only that I have figured out something that calls to me and turned around and shared what I found with others.

So my belief behind my intention is that I am being guided from the Unseen World to go exploring and that all my life I have been honing my inquisitive mind and this gift of wiring so it can be used to share what I discover.

Those beliefs empower me in my work every day.  Those beliefs make me persistent in exploring the Unseen world and figuring out the meaning and application of what I am shown.

My belies take me adventuring.  Where do your beliefs take you?

  • What does that mean you are to do in your human life?

  • Shift those beliefs if they are holding you back.

The Space of Inner Knowing

An Exploration of the Unseen World

When we learn to hear the guidance of our Inner voice where will it lead us?

There is so much guidance to be received from our Inner Knowing.  It holds an overview we cannot begin to experts here in our planetary presence. How do we learn to connect with our inner voice? How do we learn to receive its guidance?

When I came across this phrase it was so revealing, that I had to stop to figure out how to apply it

“The Great Void is the place where all solutions and answers live in harmony with the questions that fill our realities. The space of inner knowing.”

I love that – the space of inner knowing.  We all have it.  we just may not be accessing it the way we can and should, If we do learn to listen to our space of Inner Knowing,  Where will it lead us?

The Space of Inner Knowing
An Exploration of the Unseen World

Remember a time when you suddenly simply knew!  The answer just appeared out of nowhere?  It probably both surprised and amazed you?

Call it a hunch, call it intent,  call it insight…there is a place within you that knows sooooo much more than you here in your planetary persona ever dreamed of.  And there is a way to cultivate that relationship, to get that inner voice to speak more clearly, more loudly.

The more you listen, the more you will hear.

That’s Voice Within is your Space of Inner knowing.  You connection to the Void of All-ness, the Unseen World

I’ve been exploring the Unseen World in some form for most of my life. I’m 87 so I’ve explored quite a few routes.  It’s always exciting to go adventuring into the Unseen World. In this episode, we will learn to deepen our connection with this powerful voice within.

Welcome to Reflections of a Deeper Song.  I’m Cara Lumen, Spiritual Philosopher andFounder of the Deeper Song Community. I help Transformational Leaders deepen our relationship with the Unseen World and expand our role in the New Consciousness. Thank you for being a part of this journey.

This is episode  50 –   The Space of Inner Knowing

The more I listen, the more I hear. That has become my new mantra, my new way of being  It fills my awareness, my practice.  I listen more so I can hear more.  And boy is it working.  My inner voice is both loud and insistent!

The more I follow these inner directions, the more I m given to do.  It’s like I opened a flood gate and the ideas are pouring though. Just because I am listening to my inner voice.

It seems that the more aligned I become through heeding what I am told by taking steps to put them into play, the wider the doors of opportunity open.

Ideas come floating through the air from a phrase on television, or a sentence I read in an email or an idea I hear in a class I am taking.  I listen carefully to my space of Inner Knowing in order to understand her messages more fully and to absorb them into my life.

It can be a phrase I read or a few words that make me want to explore the idea to see what it means to me. That’s what has prompted this particular podcast – a phrase that I want to explore and interpret and I’m doing it with you here and now.

It came in an email but I can’t remember from where. But here’s the idea that touched me deep within:

“The Great Void is the place where all solutions and answers live in harmony with the questions that fill our realities. The space of inner knowing.”

I love that.  The Space of Inner Knowing.  Where is that? What is that?  How do we access that?

It seems to me that we have there things to explore here:

1 – The concept of the Great void

2 – How it is truly a place where solutions and answers all live in harmony with the questions that fill our reality  and

3 – How we access the space of inner knowing. How do we understand its messages and interpret them?

Let’s begin be exploring the idea of a Great Void. To do that we will have to break away from our planetary persona which accesses understanding through the limited realm of thoughts and feelings – because those, by nature are limited. We have to work to get beyond our emotions and our mind.

My preferred method for exploring the Unseen world is Shamanic journeying which is a form of meditation. It offers me fascinating metaphors that only I am to interpret.  I have been to the Void there. In my first few journeys, I could see very little. I sensed I was sitting in a circle around a campfire and there were others there but I could not see them.  That went on for several times as I learned to journey.  Now not only do I have awesome, wonderful helping spirits but I sometimes travel in the Void the great All-ness.  When I first began to visit the Void it was black.  Now the Void to me is iridescent.  And the really odd thing is that site often my major guide and I are both lying in hammocks attached to nothing and are talking.  Go figure.

But you see, 95% of the world is Unseen, so we will each undoubtedly have a different experience when we go exploring.

I like to think of the Void as our one-ness.  Rumi calls it the “Nowhere That We Came from”.  Another source I read a long time ago called it the Village of Nothingness”. It is also know as Tao.

It is both a beginning and an ending point and it is ONE – whatever that feels and looks like to you. One.  No separation. No individuality.  Simply ONE.

But here’s the part of that quote that I really loved:

The void is “ a place where solutions and answers all lie in harmony with the questions that fill our realities.”

How awesome to think of solutions and answers lying right alongside the questions that fill our planetary presence  – ad they are in plain sight when we choose to look.

Questions and not-knowing all come from our limited sense that we create here in our planetary presence.

We get to learn to go to the Void for answers and guidance.

A strong source of guidance comes for the cycles of nature.

We’re always in some stage of a cycle –  and even if we feel like we’ve been in that particular place before, we are actually a bit higher in the spiral of the ongoing cycle.  We have progressed and returned to that point that is slightly further along in the cycle with deeper knowledge and heightened awareness.

Part of the solution to allowing circumstances to unfold is to simply give ourselves time.

Each time I stop to observe where I am, I find I have more to work with – more knowledge more understanding more insight.  And I move to enter another cycle.

All you need to do is listen.

Then explore what shows up to see how deeply it calls to you.  We have to learn to listen to our Inner Knowing. It will take us on great adventures and help us fulfill our destiny.

So here we are in the Great Void where solutions and answers all live in harmony with the questions that fill our realities in a space of inner knowing.

How do we access it? How do we understand it? We need to learn to move inside to our Inner knowing for guidance.

When  you listen the inner voice gets louder.

I’m a writer, and a number of years ago I began to have the experience of some pretty awesome phrases just sort of showing up – just flying right through my typing fingers.  Sometimes the ideas were so good that I figured they couldn’t possibly have come from me. So I pictured a trio of beaded men with quill pens, writing all this great stuff to give me.

But it was me all late time.  My inner voice.  My inner knowing. My voice within. And I have learned to follow it.

When I journey I type in what I see and hear and experience because that’s how I write – seated in my boy outfit and still able to move deep into the experience.

I’m not suggesting that for you, I am suggesting that you may find an unusual way to listen to your inner voice.  Go with it.

First  become aware of those intuitive insights that suddenly appear seemingly out of nowhere and begin to trust them. Then listen to that voice in your head that first whispers and then begin to shout at you with ideas and suggestions and insights you did not expect. Then keep going and find out how the Inner World wants to communicate with you.  Trust what you find there.

Begin to set aside time to go exploring within.  I suggest silence. But you can use a drumming track or a chanting recording.  I happen to prefer silence.  Have a pen and paper nearly to take notes when you have finished your journey of exploration. Do notice the messages and pay attention. It is your Inner Wisdom seeking your attention.

The more I listen the more I hear.  And the more you hear the more you learn to interpret and apply what you discover.

Your inner Voice will change your course.

Last year, I dug deeper into the idea of raising our vibration  – I thought that would be the focus of my work. And then one day I realized I had learned all needed to know about it – for now.  So I lined to my inner wisdom, changed direction and moved on. Then the idea of a New

Consciousness emerging sent me on other journeys to discover what that means and what our role is – particularly mine and how I am to help you.  The more you listen the more you hear – and you understand. And the more aligned choices you discover.

So here’s this statement again.  Take some time to explore what it means to you and how you wana to apply it in our life.

“The Great Void is the place where all solutions and answers live in harmony with the questions that fill our realities. The space of inner knowing.”

Think on that and see where it leads you.
