How to Attract Great People Into Your Life

November 2, 2009 By Cara Lumen

by Cara Lumen

I’m a great fan of Mike Dooley who writes Notes from the Universe at www.tut.com His “notes” always give me pause to consider the overall scheme of things. Recently he wrote “it’s not who’s appeared, but who you’ve summoned.” Of course the theme of metaphysics is self-responsibility, that our thoughts create our reality. And I began to think about the great people in my life and how they got there. If I “summoned” them, what did I do and how do I do more of it.

People are attracted to vibration. You have a core vibration and then you have variations on that when you are happy or sad or angry. I can’t be around people who are angry; the energy literally hurts my body. So guess what, I’m not going to look for, or hang around people who are angry. You see a vibration that nourishes you and you get closer.
I have recently moved cross country and am once again hanging out with some of my children and their families. The major vibration I am experiencing is great kindness – a caring for each other – a family community where everyone pitches in. No that’s an attractive vibration.
What do you need to do to attract great people into your life? Be one!!!! Be a great person that people want to be with. Give generously of what you know. Step more deeply into your place of service. Monitor your thoughts and actions so your energy and vibration is positive and nourishing to others.
It is said that if there is a room full of clocks they will ultimately all align themselves and start ticking together.  That’s how we draw people to us.  We tick our steady beat that is true to our core values adn people with similar values will find us and we’ll start ticking together. Tick Tock!!!

Are you Hanging Out With the Right Crowd?

They say that you will be as wealthy as the five people you hang out with the most. That can also be meant to say you’ll be as heavy as the friends you hang out with, or at happy, or as sad. We are influenced by the people we hang out with.

For instance, I have just moved cross country to be closer to my children and two things have happened. My daughter is extremely frugal and I’m finding new ways to economize but there is also not the same consciousness about eating well as I had in California so I am having to watch my weight and not pick up any self-defeating habits like baking bread or cookies to take to a family event. Food is nourishing but so is good health.

As for money, my son Chris always hung out with people who came from families with money and he has always expected to earn a lot and live well. And he has. While my daughter is more excited about shopping the very early morning sales and saving money. It all comes from who we are as well as the company we keep.

Let’s talk about clients a minute. I have a relatively new client that has raised the bar as far as my ideal clients. She is very clear about who she serves and what she does and she has been very pro active in doing the homework and her part in making things happen. And we are flying. Now, of course, I want a lot more just like her. Wouldn’t you?

We do get to choose. Who are you choosing to be with? Are they supportive, and nourishing, and kind? Or do they requires care and support and you find them draining? Go for the good guys, the ones that are partners in what you do, that inspire and motivate you to do your best work. That’s who you want to be hanging out with.

Are You Listening?

October 20, 2009 By Cara Lumen

by Cara Lumen

This summer I moved from Santa Rosa, California above San Francisco to Olathe, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City to be nearer my children. That meant I had to release possessions, handle everything I own, focus on moving rather than my business, and then settle into my new apartment and find my way around my new city. Everything was about making choices. With every picture I hung, every drawer I filled I made a conscious choice to keep it or hang it. And that opportunity to make consistently new and thoughtful choices is still overflowing into my business. And I’m listening.

I’ve always been spiritual and I have a strong metaphysical background that is mixed in with everything I do. I have a radio show www.blogtalkradio.com/passionatelyonpurpose and I recently wrote a script for it called “Do You Believe You Can? And Why Not? As I wrote I thought to myself “This is pure metaphysics, not business.” I recorded it and got an enthusiast post from a listener saying “Wow, great show Cara, very inspiring.” Isn’t that what we want to do – touch the hearts of others and make a difference in their lives? I’m listening.

I looked over the number of listens to my various shows and the personal growth ones on stress and exceeding boundaries rated high. But then so did the ones on the sales cycle and energizing your business. I’m listening, but I’m confused.

So here’s the way I figure it. My work is a bit of both – the spiritual and the practical so sometimes I’m going to write about information products and marketing and attracting the people you are meant to serve, and sometimes I’m going to write all about the changes we can make inside. But it will always be about how we can stay Passionately on Purpose.

I love to listen to the messages from the Universe. The unexpected word from someone that triggers a new idea, the door closing in your face so you have to go look for a new one, the swelling of your heart when you get it right and are aligned with your choice. Are you listening? What do you hear? And what are you going to do about it?
