It is time for us to adjust our path, to make certain we are walking the highest road we can manage. That we hold in our hearts the highest good for all. That our choices reflect this elevated journey. 

With so much chaos, negativity and harm being done on our planet, those of us who are called to be light bearers must stand strong, walk tall, and light the way. We do that through our choices. The words we speak. The actions we take. The thoughts that we think. The expectations we hold. Monitor your thoughts. Notice what you are focusing on. Use affirmations in your spiritual practice. Do visualization work for positive change in your spiritual practice. See yourself as the light vibration that you are and send those higher frequencies you are emanating out into the world. Every day. Every moment. Release the negative thoughts. Share good wherever you can. Focus on that. Focus on what is working. Focus on the good things people are doing. Encourage them in whatever way calls to you. What we focus on we get. What we believe we deserve is what we get. What we believe is possible is what we get. You have control over how you experience your life, how you experience your day. How you experience each moment. Your choice. Your focus. And your outcome. Focus your thoughts and create the reality you want to experience. Notice where you are looking and what you are looking for. What do you expect? What are you getting? Design the higher path you choose to walk.

I monitor my thoughts to make certain I am focused on the highest good so everything in my life reflects that choice.

Deepen our Inner Awareness

Shift Your Focus

Until I shifted my focus, I did not realize I had been looking in the wrong direction. I was focusing on what was not working in my body. The shift was to look at what changed for the better in my body and build on that. Because I made different choices in my physical activities, a new range of movements became possible. 

In what area of your life are you looking in the wrong direction? How can you shift your gaze to create a different outcome?

For me, it began with a choice to walk the halls again – I’m using a walker. The possibilities changed when that additional walking strengthened my hips and legs and affected my posture and my stamina. I begin to look for different potentials, different outcomes, different possibilities. And that, of course, totally changes the choices I make and where I’m going to end up. A whole new range of possibilities became available. All I did was make one small change that created results that opened up the potential for new opportunities and choices. I walked more, my whole body got stronger and the possibilities expanded. I shifted my gaze to a broader expectation and begin to make new choices that propelled me along this broader path to strengthening my body 

It was an evolutionarily sequence of choices that built on one another. I figured I could walk better after I had rested, so my first walk was after a nap. My body responded very strongly so that opened a new door. If walking was tied to just getting out of bed, then I began to walk also in the morning. Again change happened. I stood up straighter and my body moved with more coordination. 

We’re not talking long walks but we are suggesting you notice the change your choices create. Each step brought a new “awareness” of how my body was realigning and feeling stronger.

Notice the small steps you take that create change that will take you in the direction you want to go. Maybe it’s meditating in the evening instead of the morning to make a differentiation between work and home. I write in the morning because I am freshest but sometimes I get up in the middle of the night to write because an idea is pouring out. Flow in the moment. Be flexible and aware of the new opportunities to fill the time and space in a different way. Notice what shows up with your changes and set new goals. Experiment and explore. Notice what changes.  Create and adjust.

What Are You Trying to Achieve?

Your goals determine your actions. I’m not training for a marathon or I would do a different set of actions. But I am working on being able to walk outside more so my goal determines my actions. 

You can always raise your goals but perhaps consider raising them a little at a time so they feel achievable. Assess your goal, set some steps, do the steps, assess how they’re working, and make a new set of steps. Evaluate, then create new steps, and adjust as they create results. Keep your eye on what you are trying to achieve and shift directions and actions as needed.

Take Responsibility for Self-Healing.

 Your Self-Healing Plan 

Because I’m old and do not have and do not want a Western medicine diagnosis for what is going on with my body, I have to take self-responsibility for my healing. For me it is to work with the energy of Qigong forms. I can do it. Perhaps not like it is shown to me to do because I can’t stand up that well but I am moving energy. I am honoring the meridians and moving energy and I am observing the results of these new choices. 

Find your own path to wholeness. Whether you change your eating habits or expand your exercise program or increase your sleep opportunities or your emotional patterns, experiment and notice what shifts as a result. Keep experimenting until you find the balance you seek.

The aging process is real. Keep an eye on how it is evolving in your own body and as signs emerge, change some choices until you get the results you want. 

Manage Your Feelings of Overwhelm

You have to know what is important and what is not. You need to have a filter for your life that keep you from overwhelm simply because you have set no guidelines for being selective. I’ve had several learning opportunities offered to me lately but I also passed them up because I realized that my choice for my current focus is keeping up with and learning this new Qigong version. So I know what I want. And I keep my eye on it and select only those things that support that choice. How do you keep yourself on track without feeling overwhelmed? Know where you’re going and keep going in just that direction.

What Magic did I Discover?

What if, at the end of each day, you ask yourself what magic you discovered? What would your answer be? Did you discover a new way of doing something? Did you discover a new way of being? Did you discover a new friend or have a new idea? What magic happened for you in the day? Take time to notice the gifts that are given as you move through your life and enjoy them and build on that new awareness. 

How Do You Nurture Yourself?

First you have to understand what nurtures you and then you have to give it to yourself. Do you know what nurtures you? Do you know what supports you in moving forward? We need to do that for ourselves.

Learning has always been nurturing to me. And thinking and writing about what I figure out is an exceedingly important part of my personal learning process. What nurturing actions do you take for yourself and are you doing enough of them? 

I can think of some things I might want to do more of but at the core I am doing for myself the mental things that stimulate me and make me feel interested and interesting. Check out how well you are taking care of yourself and give yourself more of what you need and want. Nurture yourself every day.

Exoneration of New Potential and Possibilities

Move Your Gaze to See the New Possibilities

As my body changes, I’ll consider new possibilities. New things that I could do if I chose to. All because I am subtly changing as I practice and learn Wuji Hunan Qigong. What would I do if I could do more things physically? I get to raise my gaze. I get to consider new possibilities. Not just because my physicalness is gradually changing, but because I am looking in new directions for new possibilities. While I don’t have any grand plans, standing up straighter is good. Standing up longer is good. Build on the small gains. Let one small step change your expectations of what is possible. Let each small change open the door to new potential and new possibilities. 

 Just Do It!

It doesn’t have to be perfect and it doesn’t even have to be totally effective, but it does need to be present. I have two friends who are in the process of putting up either revised or new websites and they’re both sitting on the decision-making process. Just do it. Having something in place is better than having nothing in place and of course, they can be and will always be improved upon as your awareness increases. Just take the first step.

Of course your idea will evolve, of course you can add new elements to your business, don’t wait until you figure that all out before you put up your website. My friend Thuy Phane of Freshly Baked Brand has a lovely program called Get Known Now that enables you to put up a few web pages and have a powerful and immediate web presence. If you are considering adding a webpage to your outreach just do it. Help people find you so you can step more deeply into service.

Encourage Curiosity

What do you need to know that will take you on a new adventure? What new paths are beckoning to you? Are you following them? Look around your spiritual life and see what you need to explore. Look around at how you are doing and the choices you’re making in your life and see what new avenues call to you. Keep your curiosity going and move into deeper exploration. Go adventuring!

Create Your Own Oracle Deck

There are certain qualities that I would like to expand in my life. One of the ways I could help remind myself would be to create my own personal oracle deck. Simply write the words or qualities or actions that you want in your life on small individual pieces of paper and each day draw one as a reminder of what to expand or what to focus on that day. What qualities do you want to establish in your life right now? Create personalized oracle cards to help you focus.

Follow The Call

Ideas, instincts, inspiration, nudges, new choices – those are all your inner voice calling to you and offering suggestions for new paths of exploration and discovery.

What new concepts are you excited about that you can turn and share with others in some form? It could be a newsletter, a podcast, a phone call. Can you explore those intuitive suggestions and turn and share them with someone else? Do more of that. 

===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===

The Power of Willingness

Being willing is one of the strongest steps you can take in order to create change. Be willing to experiment. Be willing to consider options. Be willing to be wrong. Be willing to do the work. Doors swing open when you are willing to take a step forward. What areas in your life do you need to be willing to change? To improve? 

You probably have one or two stumbling blocks in your life that you wish would go away so what do you need to do, what do you need to release or acquire in order to change that situation?

The minute I became willing to walk the halls every day, my body immediately begin to improve as did my vision of what is possible. I think sometimes we just need the willingness to do a little more or perhaps a little less in order to make major change evolve. Willingness requires adjustment and will definitely create change. Experiment.

Now I’m not talking willpower here, I am talking willingness. Making it OK to take another step toward being interested in and acting on an idea. Willingness is about action. And any action will change the outcome.

Look For The Commonality

Look for what you have in common, not what sets you apart. Build on that.

I heard a rapper on a television interview who happened to be African-American passionately explain how he wanted to help young black men get the education they need so they can get the jobs they need to support the families they want. That’s very basic. It was always part of my assumption that my own children, both male and female, would go to college and easily support themselves. But that’s not the expectation in many segments of society. Those opportunities and privileges are not to be assumed. First count your blessings for what opportunities you have received and then perhaps turn to help someone expand their own expectations and reach. How will you do that?

Be a Healing Presence for the Collective

What if the primary reason you and I are here is to be a presence for healing the collective of now? We were brought into this world with our spiritual searching, our insight, our gifts, our willingness and desire to raise the collective consciousness for this very moment, this chaotic dismemberment of our world. We are here to stand steady in light. We are here as healers. And we are here as builders of the New World. Wow. Builders of the New World. 

What do you want in the New World? I want a feeling of interconnectedness so strong that there’s only kindness and thoughtfulness and inclusiveness in everything we do. I want an awareness of the interconnectedness of all things so that we are open to the lessons of nature and the lessons of the universe. There will be a lot of inner work going on. We will live in interconnected stillness. 

Sandra Ingerman wrote: “There is a dimension of reality just behind ours where there is complete harmony and balance and cooperation between nature and humans. We can bring through those beautiful energies into our life now in the midst of the craziness if we keep up our spiritual work and let nature be our doorway into this other dimension of reality where there is only beauty.”

Contemplation. We let our human egos and needs become secondary to working for the higher overarching good for everything and everyone. That’s why we’re here. To walk in light. To be light.  We live in our light so completely that others see it and recognize it in themselves. We are light bearers. We must find the higher path for ourselves and we must lead the way for others.

Sandra continues: “Our spirit is our true home and being one with the creative forces of our universe is the lifeline we want, to have a strong link for our eternal health and well- being.”

We have work to do.  We have a gaze to raise, an expectation of what is possible to raise.

The Healing Power of Rocks

I have three new crystals and I take each one into my left hand and listen. My Blue Kyanite told me immediately it is working with my eyes. My Golden Healer is for my body in general but it’s got a lot of territory to cover. The Mookaite is still talking to me about its role but that it is serving as a motivator.

I have so many powerful crystals in my home. I need to establish a practice of working individually with more of them. Sometimes the conversation I have with a crystal is about information. Sometimes the conversation is healing. Sometimes the work is so subtle it takes time to become clear. 

How do you work with your crystals? Do you spend enough time? Perhaps work with them more often.

Qigong Acupressure For Any Blockage

This acupressure move helps with any blockages in your body and any pain anywhere in your body.

Use your thumb to massage along the side of the bone that runs from the knuckle at the base of your index finger about an inch and a half toward the wrist. Massage for two minutes on each hand or as much as needed at any time. Massaging here stimulates energy in your organs and throughout your body. This is a good, simple exercise you can practice just about anywhere.

How Do You Nurture Yourself?

I don’t exactly sit here and think what I want to do to nurture myself but perhaps I should. What makes you happy? What makes you feel serene? What makes you feel hopeful?

First of all, identify what you need to change and how to make that change happen. For instance, I have finally begun to walk the halls each day and there is a glee and joy in finally doing that again. So that is nurturing – to acknowledge and know that I am doing something that will benefit my body and the quality of my life.

Experiment with a time that you do something. I find I walk better when I first get up in the morning rather than after I’ve been sitting for a while. Experiment with how you do it.  I might go to the mailbox one day and walk outside the next. Experiment with the number of times you do it and how long you spend doing it. Keep gently challenging yourself.

What do you need to add to your life in order to create change and how will you go about doing that? And when? Take action. 

===OUTER  WORK===

Are You Willing to Explore?

I love to learn new things so I’m usually both excited and willing to explore new concepts and new ideas – with my mind. But I’m not a big explorer when it comes to going places. I have a shy streak I inherited from my father that kicks in periodically and can actually stop me cold.

It’s important to know when you are full up.  I’m very clear that I’m full of Qigong commitments right now. So I let other opportunities pass by. Know what you have room for and what you need next that will take you where you want to go. And check out your willingness to go exploring. Be an adventurer!

Acknowledge Your Wins

As I set about to create a new pattern of daily hall-walking, it helps me if I keep score and acknowledge myself for my persistence and my wins. I’m only a few days into this hall-walking every day but I am writing it down so I can add up my wins and keep encouraging myself. Small steps count. Small steps make big steps. One step at a time. Keep going. Keep track of your progress and acknowledge your progress – and persistence.

Creative Spiritual Practices

Any action that you take mindfully can become part of your spiritual practice. My now regular walks in the hall have become meditative. My Qigong practice is meditative.  I have a meet the day ceremony. Your spiritual practice can be deepened depending on where you focus your consciousness and the purpose you set for what you’re doing. Work with reverence as your focus. Preparing and eating meals could be a spiritual experience. Talking to a friend can become a spiritual experience. When you complete the conversation, offer gratitude to your friend for the exchange. I feel gratitude for the ideas I get to write about and share. I offer gratitude to the energy of the crystals around me and the ones I choose to work with each day. Be aware of the energy in your life that comes from what you are creating, what you are drawing to you, and how you are choosing to respond to it. Be conscious as you move through your daily life and offer gratitude for its blessings.

Steady and Strong

Those of us in the universe who are holding High Watch for the planet and its current evolution must stay steady and strong in our visualization that the higher vibrations that people are drawn to will help. Look for the thoughtful kindness that comes your way and acknowledge the person who offers it with more than a casual thank you. 

When getting my mail the other day I thought I put the package in the bag I carry for that purpose since I use a walker, but it fell out of the bag and went onto the floor. I was debating if I could use my grabber to push it into the bag or if I had to scoot it down the hall with my foot, when a fellow resident showed up who turned out to be deaf!  I was able to signal what I needed and she picked the package up for me but I had no way to thank her more than having her lip-read my thank you.  I will begin to look for more opportunities to thank the people that I come in contact with.

Know Your Impact

It is important to know how your actions impact others. It may be in one-on-one interactions or it could be simply by the way you show up in a situation. How do others see you? I can get bossy when I get tense. I’m a loner but it would be good if I would go out of my way to interact more with some of the residents. I’m pretty good at writing thank you notes to my friends online. How can you become a brighter light in your world? Work on that.

My Role In The World

There are so many paths I could take. So many places I could help. How do you determine the most impactful place of service for you at this point in time? Nearing 90 years old and sitting in Kansas, I have to use my intention, my vision and my vibration to serve in the world. I do have interaction with others online. We exchange ideas and support, but my world work has to be vibrational. I have always been one to want to help those who are already flying high that I can help fly higher and reach more people. So my inner work, my spiritual work will be in energetically supporting those who are continuing to climb this higher path that leads to greater oneness, into passion and inner peace. Whether it’s a song I sing or an intention I hold or a blessing I offer, I hold a vision of those of us who are working with our raised consciousness to see the lighter path and keep doing the work. How are you helping our world?

Manifest What You Want

In order to manifest what we want we have to continually make choices that are aligned with our goals. We have to be aware of what those choices are producing, and make adjustments. There are certain methods for doing this. Affirmations are powerful. A vision board is too. But I like the idea of a manifestation box. Or you could have an envelope with different topics in it, or a list or collection of photos on your computer. Whatever the form, it’s where you put your intentions, what you want to manifest in your life. 

So one segment might be about your living conditions. What do you want to change about that? What qualities do you want? What would that look like? Would a new plant help? Or a picture, or organizational help? Do you need to throw stuff away? 

Another might be for your work. What are the qualities you want in your career? Freedom of expression, acknowledgment, creativity? Make a list of the vibrational qualities you want in your work and then notice what happens. Perhaps make a note of how they manifest and how frequently they manifest. In other words, create and adjust, but always with an over-arching vision and intention. 

I want my relationships to have certain qualities, but I have to make certain that I’m manifesting those qualities myself. I must reflect those qualities in my own life.  Be aware of the vibrational energies you want in your life. Then make choices that support those qualities. You direct your life by your awareness of what is manifesting and your conscious choices to adjust what you see and experience. Hold your vision and use intention to direct your life and manifest what you want to have in it.

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

I create a manifestation container and begin to put my dreams and intentions in it.

DEEPER SONG PROCESS

  • Choose the form of your manifestation box. It can be an envelope, it can be a list, it can be slips of paper, whatever works for you. The point is to have the qualities you want to manifest in your life in a form that you can touch and feel and look at and contemplate and work with.
  • Then get to work. You might have an envelope for creativity, you might have an envelope for work, you might have an envelope for friendships. Keep adjusting the qualities that you want in each of those areas and watch what manifests as you do the work.

===INNER WORK===

Cultivate Tranquility

I like the word “tranquility” better than “serenity”. Somehow it’s like a quiet forest pool deep in contemplation. Tranquil to me means a quiet mind which is sometimes tricky to cultivate or acquire. Tranquility means being ready but being very centered in the waiting period. It is an active awareness. How do you cultivate tranquility? See if you can discern the difference between serenity and tranquility. You may prefer one over the other. There is a difference and it’s very subtle. Cultivate the one that draws you deeper into your spiritual practice. 

===SELF-HEALING===

Strengthen Your Spine

Your spine is very important and has lots of energy channels and nerve systems running through it. Keeping the channels open along your spine helps keep all the energy channels of your body open.  

A Qigong move to do that is very simple.  Standing or sitting, bend your elbows, raise your arms to shoulder height, palms facing the ground.  Begin to slightly rotate your arms from side to side and feel your spine flex and bend and straighten. Imagine the energy channels of your body opening and the Qi energy flowing through to replenish everything! Do this for three minutes several times throughout your day. Listen To Your Body

My body got pretty dramatic this week because I was not paying attention to how I was caring for it. It was actually kind of scary. But the lesson is that as hard as it is for me to walk and even stand, I must and have to do more of both to gain back my strength and flexibility. Use it or lose it. I’m losing it.

And I have a way to do that. I like Robert Peng’s Qigong series and I am practicing it so I own it – at least my version of what I can manage.  I can’t do it very well, but what I manage to do is very effective. So it is one major step in my self-healing. But I have to do the work – at least my version of it. Do not put off the care and nurturing and exercise of your human body. It will get grouchy on you and you will have to work really hard to get it to be un-grouchy. The exercises I have learned in my class are found below. Even when I don’t do these moves very well the movement of the Chi energy is huge. We’re talking 20 minutes a day here and it is something that I know you can do. I can’t stand up all the way and I’m doing them and Qi energy is just swirling around in me. I just have to do the work. As do you. Find the form of movement/exercise that appeals to you and do it regularly. Notice the results and adjust what you do to get better results. Seek Simplicity

When I pick up a crystal to hold in meditation, it is a simple act that often leads to a powerful experience. I pick up a rock and I feel its energy move through my body. New ideas come to mind. I often pause to explore the experience and insights in writing that I later share with others. I absorb the bird song outside my window. I pat my cat’s head and rub behind his ears and feel the vibration of his purr. Slow, aware moments enrich my life. Seek out those small moments. Notice how you feel and what you were thinking and let them direct your thoughts and choice. Bless your choice as you make them. Bless your food as you prepare it. Be grateful for the lessons you learn, the teachers you have in your life, the insights you receive. Notice the little things. Seek the power and clarity of simplicity.

Create Songs for Your Spiritual Practice

It began with wanting to begin my daily meditations by honoring the directions. So I began to drum and I began to think of the element of fire. And I began to sing “Fire burning brightly all through my day, light the path before me all along my way.” I kept going until I had evolved a song for each of the directions. 

Make up songs as part of your spiritual practice. Perhaps start with a simple drumming rhythm and see what words show up. I have a song to all the directions and I am in the process of making of new songs for a new altar dish that my friend Martha Lacy made for me that honors the cycles of life in an infinity pattern. 

Let the phrases show up. As you drum you see what works or doesn’t work. Keep doing it till you have a song. I have a song I sing at the end of my day to myself and my cat, Sebastian that begins “Day is over, night has come, please watch over us.” Make up some songs to add to your spiritual practice.

Take Your Warrior Stance

I need to take my warrior stance. I’ve been playing victim to all that’s been evolving in the world today.

A warrior is someone with the strength to stand up for what he or she believes, someone who perseveres in the face of challenges and obstacles, someone who speaks and acts in the service of an ideal, someone who protects those who are too weak to fight for themselves.

I have been content to walk my higher path, working to raise my vibration so others can experience it and choose it for themselves. I will keep doing that but I also want to turn and protect. 

Pick your battles.  I care about the environment, I care about wildlife.  But I have to make a mental shift around people, and what we are doing to ourselves. Because it’s very scary. And it feels overwhelming.

If my belief system says that I create my own reality, my work has to be in my mind, in my imagination, in my journey work, and my intentions. I have to shift my focus to see who is walking the path I want to walk, that higher path of inclusion and serenity. That leaves me walking my higher path and sending the energy back to the world in trouble. That works. It doesn’t feel very warrior–ish but it is an action. Whether you march in rallies, or give money, or actively campaign for a cause, or go help with your local food bank, or deepen your spiritual practice, or find a new place of service and do it with conviction. A warrior serves.

What Gifts Has Aging Given You?

I love the wisdom that aging has brought to me. I love the experiences upon which I build that wisdom. I cherish the insights that have come from a life of exploration and experience. I am wiser with age. And I like that.  Yes, my body is grouchy but my mind is a blessing. It entertains me, it stimulates me, it takes me on adventures, and it helps me gain new wisdom. It’s a great mind and I love it. 

What wisdom has aging brought you? What strength of character, what insights, what depth of knowledge? Look at the blessings the years have brought you. Keep building on them.

Tucked In and Safe

I have never been very good with money. And it’s only by happenstance that I’m balanced right now. But for that reason, I urge you to do a reality check about your retirement. My daughter and son-in-law recently paid off their home and are enjoying that phase of their financial planning, but I began talking about their “tucked in” home. The one that has no stairs, everything on one floor for an older person to get around on. One that does not have a big yard that needs maintenance. A tucked in home. 

If Social Security went away, I would be on the streets along with a lot of other people. What would I do as an old, crickety woman to make my way in the world? I’m not prepared to do it and I’m not sure I could do it.

Anticipate your aging process and its part in your limitations. And at some point, make the change that will tuck you in for that slowing down process. It’s great if you can keep hiking for miles as you age. But in case you can’t, it might be good to live someplace where another person mows the lawn.

I am tucked into a safe place. There is a staff of people who take care of it inside and out. They can fix and repair anything. There is a social worker to help me find resources. I am safe and I can afford it. And I am grateful.

It’s not about thinking doom and gloom around the aging process, but it is about being realistic about stairs and levels and grounds to keep. I like the word I am tucked in. Find a place to live in your old age in which you are tucked in safe and sound with the help you need to maintain it. It will be a good feeling when you do.

Believe the Messages

My friend, Christina Gerber, is a powerful healer and she is very generous with her skills when we talk on a regular basis. My left hip has been out of alignment. It will not hold its place steady and therefore it causes me pain. We did a healing on that hip this past weekend on Zoom and what I discovered truly surprised me. My left hip had an emotion, a strong one. It felt left out and unloved and she really wanted to be a unified part of the body. She wanted to belong to the whole. It was a very strong, emotional longing on the part of my left hip. So I hugged her and embraced her and welcomed her into our body, telling her that we really wanted her to be a part of the overall flow. I had to comfort her for some time. I hugged my left hip and comforted her and welcomed her into the whole. There was a lot of emotion stuck there.

Then I began to do infinity circles that wove both sides of my hips together, welcoming her into the overall pattern of standing and sitting and walking. I had to do that for quite a while until I felt that she was reassured, comforted and fully integrated. But the major surprise for me was that my hip felt such a strong emotion of being unwelcome and not a functioning part of the overall body. Who would have guessed that? Who would’ve gone in to give a healing based on that knowledge? No one. Trust your inner voice. Trust your body to tell you what it needs. Listen and trust what it says. Believe the messages and act on them. Your body knows.

Give it time to manifest.  Two days after my work with the emotion in my hip I had a very strong response to the Qigong work I was doing online with Robert Peng and the day after that I realized that my left hip had aligned! It was an organic sequence of healing events that built on each other. Be patient. Be aware. And keep doing the work.

The universe has a plan for each of us that is far bigger than anything we can imagine. It is that dream that unfolds as we grow and develop and make the choices that form our life. It also guides us and gives us opportunities and suggests choices that will alter our ultimate destination. We have to listen. We have to observe the nudges. We have to examine the opportunities. The universe builds on our choices. If I choose to emphasize a certain gift, the universe alters my ultimate direction to utilize that gift. We make a choice and the universe responds and gives us new opportunities based on that choice. 

The universe knows why we came into this lifetime. It responds as we make choices that expand and develop an alternate path. It is constantly guiding us. It provides us with new opportunities, new friends, new ideas, and interesting nudges. It is constantly adjusting to our choices in order to keep us going in the direction that it knows we are to travel.

Notice those nudges. Notice the synchronicity. Be present and aware as you make choices that alter your direction even a little. Check in with the universe. Show me how, show me where, show me when – it will answer. You just have to listen. The guidance will always be there. The universe knows your path and will show you the way.

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

I listened attentively to the nudges and guidance of the universe and trust the path that opens up.

  • Learn to interpret the support the universe constantly gives you. It could be insights, circumstances, and even actual knowing. Trust that.
  • Go exploring. Listen to the urge, take it a few steps and see where it leads you. Explore where the universe suggests. Ultimately you will learn to trust the guidance of the universe that is always there. 

===INNER WORK===

The Nudge Notebook

I’m going to create a Nudge Notebook. I’m going to look back over my life to identify important nudges I received in my life and how they impacted the rest of my life. Some of it will be a sentence or two that resonated so deeply that I built a great portion of my life on that concept. 

Others will be things that I was taught by others as I walked my path. I am interested in why I made the decision – either because of the circumstances, the timing, or what turned out to be a very fulfilling experience that I didn’t know to expect. 

I’m actually going to write them down. Partially because writing down one nudge will probably uncover another turning point of impact. There were some major decisions that I made. There were some major decisions made for me, like being divorced. You will probably identify a few key influencers in your life. For me it was 
the decision to move to New York in the 80s where I proceeded to build my metaphysical foundation. Including reiki. And finding the Center for Spiritual Living in California where I became a practitioner and begin to write small books. Then there was the TV salesman who told me as a copywriter to write myself into the commercial which I did. The commercial was about glasses and my first line was a close-up of my eyes and I said, “Your eyes are your most precious possession.” When I did that first spot, none of the crew helped me until I proved to them I could do it. The next time I did the spot they were very supportive. I went on to a modest career as a television talent as well as copywriter.

So many small instances are wrapped up in how I see myself as well as what I love to do and what I continue to choose to do – explore philosophically and write about what I discover. 

Look at the patterns in your life. I sang alto in the high school trio and quartet and my mother had me take voice lessons at the local college which was good. Except my voice got so big it doesn’t blend in with the other less mature voices. But it made me a good television talent later on and more recently a podcaster. It’s funny how choices like that impact our life further down the path. 

Did you follow your nudges? Eight or so years ago I immersed myself in shamanismand it is an integral part of my spiritual practice. Several years ago I began to practice Qigong even though I had studied Tai Chi and yoga years ago in New York City. It is a practice that is deeply incorporated in my daily life. So when did you make this choices, how did they change you, are they still in your life and in what form?

This is not about feeling sorry that you did or did not make a particular choice, but it is about the impact and lessons and influence those choices had on the rest of your life. I wonder what you’ll find in your nudge notebook? 

Sacred Awareness

I don’t do Sacred Awareness very well but I wish I did. I wish I could be more aware of how sacred every moment of my day is. The fact that I am here. The fact that I am breathing. The fact that I am contributing. The fact that I am learning. Those are sacred gifts the universe provides daily. I would like to be more aware. And give more gratitude.

Count your blessings. For me, it’s a simple as being tucked into a safe place that I can afford. And have the help that I need as my age. For me, it is about my mind and the great adventures it takes me on. And it is the constant discovery of new and deeper ways to feel the sacredness within me, to be that sacredness. How will you increase your sacred awareness today?

What Energy is Drawing You and Where Is It Taking You?

Can you feel the pull? Can you feel the attraction? Can you feel the energy urging you to go in a certain direction? We have to be aware of that. And we have to continue to make choices. For instance, the news has a very powerful negative energy right now. Everything you listen to pulls you into a state of helplessness and hopelessness and despair. We have a choice. We have to stay aware, but we have control over how deeply we immerse ourselves in the negative pull.

We have to pay attention to what we’re paying attention to. Where is the energy that you are focusing on taking you? Is it towards a positive solution? Is it to an answer? Is it worth taking time to listen to the whole idea? The more aware we are of how we are responding to a particularly negative energy, the greater control we have over our response. Notice what energy is drawing you, where it is taking you, and make a conscious choice to either follow or let go and change your focus. This is a tricky time. Understand your overall intention and evaluate the focus of the energy that shows up. Decide if you want to go where it is leading you. 

===SELF-HEALING===

Stress Relief – Chin Circles

I now have the book Head-to-Toe Healing by Master Chuny Lin and keep adding the simple moves to my life to move my qi energy into action and self-heal. 

I found the chin circle as I was looking for a move to share with a friend who said she had anxiety and trouble sleeping. It’s become one of my favorites. I just call it chin circles. It is a very powerful move to release stress. It can even be done in the middle of a meeting if you do it subtly because you’re simply moving your chin in a forward, down and around circle. 

Sit or stand straight. Stretch your neck forward, move the chin down, and then turn it back to toward your chest. Now guide your chin up your chest until your head is back at the starting point. This is done in a continuous circular motion and should only take a few minutes. Tone the sound KENE as you do it one minute any time as needed. There is number 28 and Head-to-Tie Healing.

I had an unexpected result when I began to practice it. My right shoulder experienced a major release. And I didn’t even know it was jammed up – until it released and greatly increased its range of motion.  These are very powerful moves.

The moves are simple to do and I have had amazing and instantaneous results from doing them. Highly recommend.

Reminder: the more water you drink, the less pain you will have. Drinking half of your body weight in ounces per day is recommended and helps your eyes and brain and lungs (all are mostly water!)

===OUTER   WORK===

What You Expect You Get

“I don’t think it’s gonna work but I’ll give it a try.” How much success do you have with an affirmation   like that? What do you expect to get? The extent of results or even if there are any results, all emerge from what you expect you’re going to get. “I’ll give it a try- but.” “This may not work -but.”

My biggest shift about being aware of what I expect has come recently as I use Qigong to self -heal. And it’s working. So in essence, I’m moving my arms in prescribed patterns and focusing my thoughts and physical changes are happening. The fact that change is happening strengthens my belief that it can happen. Expect the best, do not settle for second best. Expect the best and you will get it.

How Do You Plan Your Day?

Do you see a new day as a blank canvas with you as the artist? Can you feel you desires? Do you watch your day open up with all sorts of hard to miss need-to-do lists or soul-rewarding spiritual exploration? Which would you prefer?

Sure we have to get things done, but what if our to-do list is crowding out our dream list, our I-want-to-do list. It may be as simple as saying, “From one to two I’m going to work on my dreams, my passions, my expectations.” What would you do? Set aside time for dreaming and exploring and experiencing? Give it a try and see what expands and unfolds.

Write an Acknowledgment Note

Stop and think about someone whose presence makes a huge difference in your life. When was the last time you acknowledged them? Not just a general “thank you” but a thank you for a specific interaction, for being there, for calling on a regular basis, or simply being a friend. Write or call your friend up. Send an email. Create some form of acknowledgment for someone in your life who is so there for you, that it’s possible you haven’t thanked him/her for quite some time. Be aware of those who help you even in small ways and acknowledge them for their interaction.

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Keep It Simple

It’s easy to make it more complicated. Keeping it simple is the hard part. For instance, I found an hour-long class on creating sacred ceremony that included things like sacred geometry. I’m not going to take it because I want to keep my ceremonies simple and meaningful to me. I know how to make a very complex spiritual ceremony. And for some people that’s perfect. But I like to keep it focused and simple – set an intention and do the work. Keep an eye out on how complicated or complex you have made your spiritual practice and perhaps consider simplifying it or alternating the elements as you move through the week. 

One purpose of a morning spiritual practice is to release the healing of the night and prepare for the day ahead. Let go.   Choose a focus. And step forward into your day. Every ceremony could be about reflection and gratitude. Keep it simple.

Mindful Living

Learn to live mindfully. When you prepare a meal do it with gratitude and appreciation for the source of the food. Eat mindfully. Eat thoughtfully and taste thoroughly. When you do your work do it from your heart. Begin with an intention and keep that higher awareness of that intention as you move through the work. Let that keep you in the high road as you proceed. 

Walk mindfully. As my body continues to shift and change, when I’m walking well I experience great appreciation for the smooth movement and the coordinated steps. Mindfulness deepens your appreciation for what exists. How will you be more mindful today? 

Expand Your Creativity

There are so many ways to be creative. It gives us an opportunity to express what is deep inside of us in a form that we normally don’t use. It can be poetry, it can be a drawing, it can be creating anything. Find a way to increase the creativity in your life whether it’s trying a new recipe or learning a new song, or writing a poem.   Be creative in your spiritual practice. Be creative in your daily interaction with people. Be creative in what you learn. And what you share. Shake it up again. And see what new ways you can offer yourself to the world.

The Flow of Friends

When you look back over your life you see a flow of important friends. People who changed your life. People who taught you life-changing lessons. People who encouraged you. They came in and they went out. There was a cycle to their friendship. A time and place. Take a moment to remember the people who had a great impact on your life. Those who were your support or a catalyst for an impotent choice that you made.

Notice who is in your present cycle, what they are offering you. What you are offering them. It’s not important how long the exchange is. Very short exchanges can be life-changing. As can a long one. There’s a flow to friendship. Because you change and they change and you have to separate in order to go learn new things that take you along on your own individual path. There are people who changed my life that I no longer have any idea where they are. They were friends and they were important friends and they were part of a past cycle.

Notice the cycles. Notice the waxing and waning of a friendship, relationship, notice how you spend less or more time together or how sturdy and steady and deep the relationship continues to build. Friendships unfold. Let them guide you both as you journey alongside each other for a while. Friendships go in cycles just like everything else. Enjoy the flow.

Do Your Rock Routine

I have told this story before. We were walking across Central Park in New York City forty years ago when my friend said, “We are rocks, others depend on us.” I thought about that a minute and asked “Who do we depend on?” She said, “Other rocks.”

My friend Noralee, who lives in Canada and who graciously proofreads this newsletter for me each week, reminded me that in this time of stress she was looking at the solidarity of the mountains and she wrote “And I remember I am a rock. So are you. Perhaps if we just do our rock routine, we’ll teach by example :-)” So I’m writing this to figure out what my “rock routine” is….

It is about being independent, smart, strong, and creative. We make stuff up. We do stuff differently. We are independent and strong minded. Rocks find a way around and above and beyond and below. We just make things happen. There’s a strength about being a rock, a dependability, but there’s also a great amount of creativity.

The topic that brought about this reminder of our rock-ness was the state of the world – which is pretty scary at the moment. So my interpretation of being a rock today would include knowing my own value. You’re standing up for your values, but not imposing them on others – continually searching for the highest good for all. Being a rock is about being thoughtful and kind and strongly supportive.

I see rocks as strong stand-alone people who simply get the job done. It’s not a big deal, it’s just the way we are.

We stand strong in this world of change. We make the choices that are aligned with our goals and our integrity. And keep going in that direction, that higher road. What kind of a rock routine are you going to create?

Many Paths

There are many ways to reach a destination. Over, above, around, and through. When you are considering a new step, take time to explore different paths that would get you there. One path may get you there very rapidly but without much depth and thoroughness. Another path may be way too detailed for what you want to do. Look for the path that has the right mixture of thoroughness, freedom of imagination, and effectiveness. Go partway down any of the paths that call to you to make sure that they are what you want or what you don’t want. Explore before you choose your path. Open yourself up to a variety of paths toward the solutions and outcomes you seek.

Trust theProcess

There are some things that are not working well in my life. My body is one of them but I have to trust the process. I have to trust that the universe knows why I am in the condition I’m in. I know one thing, it is driving me to search out self-healing methods to go get a result. So maybe it had to be this dramatic in order to make me take the next steps. So I experiment. I observe the results. I keep a close eye on my morale. And I do the work. Not always happily. Not always well. But I do it with persistence.

I get to make choices. I get to do the work or not do the work. I notice the results. I’ve had easier times, by a lot. But the universe is giving me this opportunity to look deeply within, perhaps make new choices. I must pay attention and give it deep thought.

Trust the process. There are lessons to be learned in the doing.

Explore The Rewarding Path of Change

I’m not exactly in limbo but there is change occurring all around me and I don’t know where it’s leading or what my role is to be. I can’t force it. But I keep looking for ways to help it be revealed to me.

I pulled some tarot cards to get some answers. The first one I drew was “changed and possibilities.”

“Possibilities” is a door opener.  It is a game-changer. What do I need to let go of or do more or change in order to open up new possibilities? Sometimes all we need to do is sit still and contemplate the changes and openings in the new path that show themselves.

We must explore.  We must identify what calls the most to us and walk down that path a bit to see where it might lead. See how it feels. See if it’s a direction we want to go in. We must be willing to change.

We must explore our new interests deeply enough to have a sense of the possibilities it opens up. Their potential. The direction it will lead us. The gifts it will bring. We can’t always identify what opportunities and challenges a new choice will bring so we need to stay alert as we travel the path and keep making changes, keep exploring, keep questioning. We need to know how it feels, what changes would be possible and where they might lead. And with each step, we must reevaluate the new perspective it reveals. Consciously explore each developing new pathway, make your choice, and move forward. We must be persistent in our search, resilient in our exploration, and patient for the path of change to be revealed.

Create a Shamanic Ceremony for Guidance

Several things will influence the experience you have creating a ceremony. You will get better with practice over time.

The first is the skill and life experience you bring to the table. 

There are many ways to design a ceremony. It can be short or long it can be elaborate or simple. Explore different forms of ceremony and perhaps identify several that are applicable to different situations you find yourself in. 

My major form of ceremony is a shamanic journey. I journey all the time. My process is very simple. I decide on the purpose of my journey.  It may be guidance, it may be self-healing, usually I have a question and seek clarity. 

Begin your ceremony by centering yourself. I could play my flute or look out at nature. Or close my eyes and focus on my breathing.

In a quiet place, I use my imagination to go to my Sacred Garden and ask for guidance. The images that show up are mine to interpret. They are my spiritual guides speaking directly to me. The first three times I journeyed I saw nothing but a campfire and only sensed others around it. Be patient with yourself as you learn to journey. And don’t be surprised with the form it takes.  Trust what shows up.

The second contributor to your ceremony/ritual is your relationship with the unseen world and the guides that show up which deepens over time. 

I have a resistance to angels and when one started to appear in my journeys, it was only her feet and the tips of her wings that I could see.  It took awhile for me to let her in but now the Angel With The Golden Wings is often present to guide me on my journeys.

Trust the images that appear and trust how you choose to interpret them. All of these images are metaphors for only you to interpret. If you are not clear, ask them for clarity.

What you do with the guidance you receive is also an important influencer on the effectiveness of the rituals and journeys that you take. Do the work. Explore the suggestions. Let your guides help you unravel the question you’ve asked. 

Be willing to believe what you see. Be willing to listen to talking rocks and fly on the backs of big birds and communicate with dolphins. Listen and interpret whatever images and thoughts and ideas show up and trust your interpretation. Keep practicing and you’ll get better at it. This is one of the ways that the inner world speaks to you.

Always give gratitude for all the guidance and awareness that you’ve been given. Your guides are there to be helpful.  Thank them for their insights and wisdom.

Keep a journal. Take notes right after you have your journey or ceremony. And be aware of any changes and ideas that show up in the days and weeks that follow. Record those too. It helps to clarify the overview.

Our shamanic work comes with the obligation to honor the power and spiritual magic and not take it lightly.

Know that you are safe. 

Have a clear intention.

Treat the experience with great respect. 

Add a shamanic journey as one of the forms of ceremony in your spiritual life and gather to you the insights of the inner world.

You are responsible for your own experience.  Keep exploring. 

===SELF-HEALING===

Trust the Stillness

How much time do you spend in silent stillness? There is no better place to heal and regroup than in the silence of our inner world. I don’t mean sleep, I mean meditative stillness.  A time when you go within and create space for your inner wisdom, your inner guidance, to make itself known.  

The form that guidance takes may vary.  Allow it time to evolve.  

I was to lead a segment in a Zoom call.  I had an idea.  As the days progressed, I got ideas for different versions the experience could take.  I explored them as they came up, taking them a step deeper or in a slightly different direction.  I trusted my inner voice to take me in the right direction.  I gave the concept space to evolve and trusted the process. 

Set an intention and then sit with it.  Notice what comes up without judgment.  You will know when to choose and what to choose.  Let the stillness nurture and clarify. 

(It turned out to be a powerful experience for all of us on the call…)

===OUTER  WORK===

What Makes Life Meaningful?

The facets of your life that are meaningful in the moment change over the years as your life changes, as your focus changes, and your expectations change. What is meaningful for you right now? My mind is meaningful. Without it for me there’s nothing because it’s entertaining, it’s informative, it’s creative, it helps me reach out to others. 

Do you have a gift that you particularly enjoy or find meaning in sharing? Do you need to do more of it? Do you need to find a broader audience to share it with? How are you using your gifts? Who are you sharing them with? And how can you widen your reach? 

What Do You Want?

What do you want? What are your priorities? Is it your health? Your relationships? Your work? Your future? Choose one and begin to do some active work on it – both inner and outer. That means visualization. How could it unfold? What does that look like and feel like?  How will the choices you are considering affect others? The world? Your own life? Take a few steps.  See how it feels and where it is leading you.

Perhaps you need to work on not just what you want, but what you need right now in your life. That could help you sort out your priorities. Do you need friendship? Do you need money? Do you need better health? What is your main need right now and what are you doing to make it happen? 

On the physical plane, I want my body to feel better. On the spiritual plane, I want the world to feel better. I can work on both of those. But I need to know that I need them both and I want them both, so I can choose the right steps to take and the right beliefs to hold to help it come into being.

Make a list of a few things that you want and then prioritize them. Pick the first one and design three steps to move you forward in your awareness of its potential and impact. Your future is yours to design. It is yours to create. It is yours to cultivate. Choose in alignment with the highest good of all. And get to work.

Ideas and Discipline

I get tons of ideas. They crowd my head. They crowd my day, they crowd my work. I love them. But I continue to develop criteria by which to choose and measure the usefulness of an idea. 

Not all ideas are yours to do. They may be an idea to give to someone else. They may be an idea to be done at a later time. Don’t let yourself get so crowded with ideas that you don’t act on any of them. Learn to be selective and choose the ideas that take you the furthest in the direction you want to go next.

Above and Below

More and more healing practices that I come across begin by connecting deeply with Gaia and bringing up her powers, then turning and connecting with the cosmos, your Soul Star, Source. We bring both of those energies into our humanness and use them to release, restore, repair, and rebuild. I sometimes feel those energies coming from above and below turning into a counter-clockwise spiral, releasing, repairing, and replacing all throughout the column of my body. Use your imagination and take time to bring the energy from below and from above where you do your self-healing work.

===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE DIVERSE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEINGS===

Work With Another Light Being

When my daughter retires in a few years she wants to move into animal healing using energy techniques like Reiki. I’ve connected her with a friend of mine who is a very gifted animal healer. She will have an example and a mentor and a guide as she moves into her new field.

I have a small group of women that I interact with regularly and each time I do, I find insights and meaning and often new steps to take to enrich my own life. Do you have that kind of circle of friends? Start with one person. Find a friend that is on a similar track and arrange to talk on a regular basis, to encourage each other, and to share what you have learned.

I have a primary longtime friend that I was paired with when we were in one of Sandra Ingerman’s shamanism classes and we have continued to talk weekly for five years or so. We have grown alongside each other. We have supported each other in that growth. We know each other’s patterns so we can be supportive.

You will have different friends for different facets of your life. Encourage that. Explore that. Expand on that. In my case, I’ve introduced those friends to each other. They have developed their own relationships.

As you grow, your friends will change. Allow that to happen. And seek new friends that will help you move higher on the new path that you’ve chosen.

===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===

Adventure and Potential

How do we know our potential if we don’t go adventuring? If we don’t try new things? Or explore new venues? How much exploration are you doing currently? Do you go a little way down the path you’re on to check out what else is there? Are you turning and exploring a whole new path? Will it take you on an adventure that will lead you places you cannot imagine? Be aware that you must continue to explore. You must adventure down unexplored paths and look around and see what calls to you.  When you go exploring you will find a new adventure and your greater potential!

===OUR EVOLVING FUTURE===

Choice

There sure are a lot of us on this planet making a lot of different decisions, going in a lot of different directions, not at all in harmony with each other. It’s kind of a mess. I suppose it’s a growth stage. Each person trying to expand and find their role. Some are more aware of the consciousness of the earth and some have more compassion and empathy than others. It’s an eclectic collection of people all here on the same planet and we are not working in harmony. 

We must consciously define and follow our own path, our own heart. We must constantly strive to take the higher path – the path of inclusion. Not everybody’s going to be on that path. But we must continue our journey on the highest road we can find and keep making conscious choices for the highest good of the most people.

Building My Web of Life

As I look around to see how my “next” will unfold, the lesson of the spider calls to me. She weaves her world from within herself and builds on what she finds around her.  She also can’t see so she works only from vibration.  Hummmm. I want to create like a spider.

I am probably forcing my search for what I am to do next. In fact, I’m pretty sure I am. So if I take a lesson from the spider, what do I do? 

I am patient. I pay attention to what is inside of me. My thoughts, my urges, my insights. And I wait patiently to discover where I might apply those ideas. It’s the patient part I’m not too good at. But there is a serenity and surety and resilience about building on what you find around you and building from within you. I will keep practicing.
