We Are Weavers of Light
Living Our Deeper Song
Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!
As I watch this world evolve and change I keep looking for my role. Our role. We are Weavers of Light. It is our job to continue deepening and expanding our spiritual awareness so that all we do, everything we say, everything we think, is focused on traveling on and continuing to take the high road – this path of light that we are weaving as we go. We build it through our intention. We construct it through our choices. We reinforce it through our words and thoughts and deeds. Weaving is about intertwining different colors and textures of threads to make a pattern and to add strength to the overall offering. We are to find creative, inclusive, innovative ways to intertwine our lives with each other. To keep us on the higher path. The path of light. The path of wholeness. To raise each other up. To walk hand-in-hand. To lead the way. We are Weavers of a Light Path. We have work to do.
DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION
I am constantly aware of my role as a Weaver of Light.
DEEPER SONG PROCESS
- Be aware of your responsibility as a Weaver of the Light Path.
- Monitor your thoughts. Monitor your choices. Always choose the high road, the Path of Light. Hold your light high and help others along the journey.
===INNER WORK===
Your Relevance
If you feel relevant you feel useful. You feel valued. What makes you feel relevant? Having people respond to my newsletter or podcasts makes me feel relevant. It helps me know I am touching hearts and changing lives. I have friends in various parts of the world and when we talk on Zoom we are each aware of our reliance on the other for encouragement and insights and self-reflection. What makes you feel relevant and how is that changing for you?
It is an amazing experience when you find yourself feeling both useful and relevant. Your feelings of relevance may come from being a parent or a worker or a partner in a relationship. But as our world is changing so are our roles and therefore it is possible that we are not feeling as relevant as we used to. How has your role changed? How has your contribution changed? How do you think your value has changed? Where are you needed now? New doors are opening up. Go exploring. Look around. What new path is calling to you that will make you feel more relevant? Explore and define your new role.
The Power of Stillness
Your mind can be a busy little bee, so busy that it keeps you from being centered and still. Quiet your body, quiet your mind. Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, Breathwork, Meditation are all powerful practices that still your mind and focus your energy. What do you do to manifest stillness?
===SELF-HEALING===
Ritual and Expectation
I am not a fan of ritual. Just let me cut to the core and do the work. Until I read this: “Indigenous ritual set up a process to ready the body-mind to receive the healing.”
Ready the mind. What do you expect from your physical workout? What do you expect when you put your body in bed? Do we need to create a Ritual of Readiness?
I’m doing a variety of things to help my body self-heal. There is an expectation when I go to a partial chair for meditation. The mere act of sitting in that chair gets me ready to meditate. I usually do a few Qigong moves to signal my entry into this inner space.
Where can you add a ritual of expectation into your spiritual practice?
Balance the Flowing Current of Energy in Your Body
I am reading the book Healing Ourselves: Biofield Science and the Future of Health by Shamini Jain and in the description of yoga she talks about how the asanas – physical postures – help foster and balance the constantly flowing current of energy in our bodies. It allows the mind to obtain greater stillness. They “help foster and balance flowing current of energy in our bodies.” That’s what healing is about – balancing the flow of energy in our body. We do that by the choices we make, the actions we take, the thoughts we think, and the people beside whom we walk the path. All of our choices affect the flow of energy in and around and through our bodies. It would make sense to start paying a great deal of attention to our choices.
In New York City, I learned yoga and even took a teacher’s training. Just as I left I was introduced to Bikram Yoga (Hot Yoga) and if I had not been raising my granddaughter by myself at that time, I would have gone to take a teacher’s training in that form. My body has lost the habit of doing yoga and it would take a lot of work to even come vaguely close regaining that. But I have studied Tai Chi and now do Qigong. I also meditate. It’s just a matter of finding the method that draws you to balance the flowing current of energy in your body. Keep exploring but also keep doing it…
Singing and the Vagus Nerve
The vagus nerve is the longest and most complex of your cranial nerves, and it affects every organ in your body. Recently a healer friend said she took time to stimulate her vagus nerve every day. She sent some links for me to explore which I share below.
You can reach your Vagus nerve behind your ears and simply massage that. Let your palms rest on your neck so you are giving energy to a long length of vagus nerve.
Singing and toning affect the vagus nerve so I made up the Vagus Hum: Place your middle fingers behind your ears and reset your palms on your throat. Begin to hum at a pitch that focuses the hum between your ears. The pitch will make the whole throat vibrate. Now gradually lower the pitch and feel the vibration move down your throat and neck to the base of your neck. Notice how that feels.
Your have just done a Vagus Hum!! It’s a great way to slow down, center yourself and replenish your whole body.
Massage, tone, read the links below and begin stimulating your vagus nerve every day. Here are the links courtesy of Christina Gerber

===OUTER WORK===
Learn from Experience and Experimentation
My shamanic journeys have been very clear – I am on an upward golden road that keeps climbing and I am in a period of exploration and experimentation. I’m talking to my body more – both listening to its responses and experimenting with alternative choices. My body is teaching me what it wants and need. I do not know where we are headed but this is a time of preparation – getting ready for what is unfolding.
Experimentation is an interesting personal growth concept. We need to keep looking. We need to dig deeper. We need to experiment and find our own best practices and put them to use. I listen to all the ideas that come my way and I go exploring to see if/how they will enhance my journey. As my body responds or my life changes, I observe and evaluate what seems aligned with my path and that guides me to make more informed choices.
For instance, I found a new chair in which to do seated exercise, I expanded my diet with food salad choices from the deli. I read, I explore, I experiment and I pay attention to the results.
What I learn from my experimentation guides my next path of exploration. Be creative. Be reflective. Stay in alignment. Listen. Explore. Evaluate. Choose. Build on that new point of view. See where it takes you and repeat.
Self Healing, Expectation, and Observation
We get want we expect. We get what we believe we deserve. We get what we expect is possible. Do you believe you can self-heal? I do. I have no specific success stories to share, but I know every choice I made affects the unfolding of my life, whether it was conscious or unconscious.
So what am I expecting from my 89-year-old body? I expect to be actively in action until it’s time to leave the planet. That means my brain and my ability to share what I figure out has to stay flexible and in good working order. I will hold it to that expectation.
My choice seems to be to explore, organize my next steps around what I find, make the change and move on. I apply what I learn but then I go learn something else and apply that to make even more changes. I do a lot of exploring and experimenting. No long-term studies here. Well, that’s not true, my exploration of Spirit is very long term – pretty much lifelong.
Expectation is a cornerstone for the results you build on. I need to expect my choices to change the outcome, to alter the experience. I need to observe and adjust and keep experimenting to find the right balance. Pay attention to the expectations you hold for the results of your action and keep adjusting both the actions and your expectation until you get it right. Self-healing can be enhanced by expectation and observation followed by adjustments based on what you learn.
===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===
A New Realm of Inquiry and Discovery
The vision I keep getting in my shamanic journeys is of being on a road that is gradually elevated. It is a golden road and I have two guides with me. It is rising above earth, the path is rising above the chaos. It is a golden path leading toward I don’t know what. But it is a new realm of inquiry and discovery which means I get to explore, ask new questions, reach new conclusions, try out new concepts. I will discover new things to try. I will experiment. I will be observant. I will listen. I will learn. And I will discover. Pretty good for entering a new realm of inquiry and discovery. Yeah for more adventures.
===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON EXPAND YOUR VIEW====
The Search for “Next”
I am aware of the ongoing cycles of my life. Periodically I find myself sitting in a state of “not knowing”, waiting for the next cycle to unfold, to make itself known, and all I can really do is sit here and wait. And be observant.
One of the things you can do while waiting is to notice what is no longer working for you. What is taking too much time, not getting the results you wanted, that is now boring? Then, while you’re waiting for your “next” to unfold, look at what is giving you a really good time. I love doing that. Make a list of the things that are exciting for you and rewarding for you. Do more of those.
One day, in a glimmer of knowing, you will see your new path. And you will step on it with joy and conviction and confidence and march right along. While you’re waiting for that path to show up, see what you need to let go, and see what is calling your heart. You are being shown the new path. You just have to pay attention.
===INTENTION BLESSING===
May we walk the Path of Light with a sure foot.
May we keep our gaze on the summit.
May we take this journey with an open heart.
I entwine my light with yours as we move forward to guide the way.
===OUR EVOLVING FUTURE===
An Experimental Garden for 2022
As the year draws to a close, it is a good time to give some thought to our “next” – what we would like the coming year to be like. What we would like to accomplish. What we would like to learn. It’s great to stay open to unexpected surprises but it’s also a very powerful step to pause to evaluate where you are, what worked, what didn’t work, and what’s calling to you. I particularly like taking time to find out what’s calling to me. So it’s kind of fun to think in terms of planting an experimental garden. Plant a little of this and a little of that and see what you like. So if you were putting in an experimental garden to decide what crops you want to develop next year, what would you put in it?
I’m going to put in a whole row of different types of physical movement so that I can experiment with the ones that best meet the needs of my body. I’m going to plant another row that helps me deepen my Transcendental Meditation practice – as in doing it more often and for longer periods of time. That is simply an existing crop I want to expand. I’m going to plant another row of new friends. People that I may already know, that I deepen my relationship with. People that I don’t know that have yet to come into my life. I want to stay open to expansion. I want to expand my learning. So I will plan another row of concepts I want to explore in the form of books or courses that call to me. That’s a pretty good experimental garden. So in this garden, I will plant varieties of each of these ideas and go exploring to see how they nurture me and how they excite me and how and what they teach me. And when I figure that out I will plant more rows of that same concept with perhaps a larger number of varieties. For instance, I could see how many varieties of “mindfulness” I can plant. What experimental crops do you want to plant in your “Garden of Next” to see how it would fit into your calling for the coming year?

==== DEEPER SONG EXPLORATIONS ===
I am blown away by this messages in Sandra Ingerman’s latest newsletter. “There is a learning curve of how to tend to oneself and others during this time of dismemberment and simultaneous rememberment.” I hadn’t though about the simultaneous part. I encourage you to take the time to read this newsletter. There is also a Winter Solstice Ceremony recovered that I plan to participate in on December 21st. I hope you consider subscribing to this powerful monthly newsletter. She is a thoughtful leader. December Transmutation News.
===REFLECTIONS===
The Lone Leaf
A lone leaf drops to the ground. It floats gently into to the end of its cycle. It is complete.
A new cycle begins. A cycle of gradual organic change in which she will be dissolved and move into a new life, a new form, a new place of service.
Endings mean new beginnings. It is the cycle of life.

===OUR UNFOLDING ROLE===
Persistence and New Possibilities
“Persistence and New Possibilities” were on the oracle card I drew and I really resonated with that combination. As I take these small persistent steps to strengthen my body, new possibilities being to appear. It’s exciting because my potential has expanded. It’s as simple as one more stretch, one more step, one more choice to move toward wholeness and the path widens, doors open and the journey gets easier. All because of persistence that opened up new possibilities. What new opportunities are showing up for you? Be persistent in your exploration.
===CARA’S CORNER===
I Have the Resources
As I move excitedly through the pages of Healing Ourselves: Biofield Science and the Future of Health by Shamini Jain, I realize how well prepared I am to manifest my own healing. I have the tools (reiki, meditation, qigong, yoga, breath-work, mindfulness) I just have to design my personal program. How exciting! I practice various techniques, observe the experience and the results, and design my own self-cultivation program. My sense is that this self-designed path will both widen and deepen as I explore. The point is to keep exploring and to evaluate my experiences and results so I have a basis for further choices. I can just do it, or I do it, write down what I did, and record my responses/results. Somewhere in between is more likely where I will land. I do what to keep track of what I do so when I get a super positive result I will know why and I can repeat what I did.
I am totally drawn to the seven steps of Yoga as described in this book and since I am reading it to learn to facilitate my own healing, I will practice and notice and choose what resonates most with me at this point in my evolution. The point is to pay attention to the results and figure out how to get more of the outcome you want. I can do that.
===SING A DEEPER SONG ===
Building on the Results
I take a step and pause to look around. Where am I? Is this where I want to be?
I take a step and pause to look around. Where am I? Is this where I want to be? I shift my gaze. I look at the possibilities that surround me.
I take a step and pause to look around. Where am I? Is this where I want to be? I shift my gaze. I look at the possibilities that surround me. I change my rhythm. I follow my inner voice and step forward into a new adventure.
