Autonomy is about self-governing.  Being independent. Taking responsibility for all your choices – and their outcome.  It is very freeing.  Autonomy is about being true to yourself. It is about having a sense of freedom and control in your life.  

On the mental level I feel very free in my life.  I get to write about what calls to me and explore what beckons without any regard to trying to make a living. I truly can explore anything I want – mentally.  Physically not so much anymore. But my inner world is expanding…

I have a very strong sense of purpose and the imagination and flexibility to allow my focus to shift as I expand my awareness and my horizon. I go exploring a lot.  And I listen to my inner voice all the time.  

Autonomy is about your sense of purpose. I am exceedingly lucky to be 88 and have such a strong sense of purpose. It makes my days rich in exploration and discovery.

Autonomy is also about what you refuse to put up with any longer. I made a very unusual decision 50 years ago to leave the Midwest and go to New York City.  It was life-changing.  My first week in NYC, I attended an event with a panel of achieving women saying they were more powerful because of having taken  “est” and that was the beginning –  est, Reiki Master Teacher Fourth Degree, Certified Bach Flower Counselor, Trager Practitioner.  I taught Reiki to young men when the AIDS epidemic was just beginning.  I read only philosophical books and took classes at the New School with powerful teachers and I immersed myself in a great city for discovery and expansion.  I explored things that were not yet in the mid-west I had left. 

Even when I was working for someone else, I worked as a temp rather than commit.  I was an explorer on a roll!

This is a fascinating time to reposition ourselves, to open up new paths to explore and potentially take.

Pause to examine what you are tolerating now that you don’t want to do, don’t need to do, or seems not to be lining up for you right now.  What can you release?

What is your passion?  Your primary gifts? Are you using them?

Cultivate a new community of like-minded friends online and support each other in moving along your similar paths together. 

What do you want to manifest in your life right now?   Choose one and find creative ways to make it happen. 

How are you expressing your autonomy – your individuality – your sacred calling?

We are in an era of profound change.  How we form our “next”, our future, is up to us and the choices we make today – in each moment.  

The world seems so chaotic. There is so much going on, that it is easy to feel helpless, like a small pebble in a very large ocean. But we have great power and it lies in each choice, each thought, each belief. 

Our destiny is up to us. We must take self-responsibility for what we think, the words we speak, the actions we take, the choices we make and the beliefs we hold. That’s how we manifest our “next.”  Our destiny.

Centered Serenity – Ready but Waiting

I’ve drawn the Oracle card “Ready but Waiting” a lot the past few months. How we wait is important.  “Centered Serenity” came up for me.  I can be expectant or excited but the best place for waiting for something to unfold is in centered serenity.  A peaceful place of being present in the now. An aware place of listening deep within. There is nothing to do – you are ready and you are to wait for your next step to unfold.

As I learn to wait with centered serenity,  I use my breath to move into my Still Point, drop my shoulders, relax my body, and immerse myself  in the silence around me. I am in a moment of being nothing – of being everything. As I allow my body to merge with and dissolve into the unseen world, I experience myself as part of a grand scheme, a larger purpose.  And I know and trust that when I wait with open willingness, my next step will be shown to me in the perfect tine. 

Make Room for Change

Change can take its time unfolding and it can also happen in an instant. We get to be both patient and alert. And don’t overthink the nudges and ideas and circumstances that show up. Let it unfold and chose in the moment.   

When a new idea or circumstance presents itself, center yourself and examine it from an overview perspective of where you are and where you want to go.  

These months of cutting back on content have given me space to rebalance, to explore new ideas, to adjust what I am doing  All because I made space – the space of nothing to do except what I felt called to do in the moment.  If that was thinking, fine. If it was a nap, fine.  If it was an idea to explore, even better.  Immerse yourself in a large chunk of nothingness and see what shows up.

See the Bigger Picture 

It’s so easy to get caught up in detail and lose sight of our bigger vision.  I’m watching this new vision for process podcasts unfold and because it is unfolding I need to stay loose, I need to be flexible.  I need to be patient.  I need to give myself room for this vision to unfold – allow time for the concepts to evolve and mature.  So each step I take is leading me into a broader view of what is possible.  

Give up on the details and raise your gaze to see where you are headed.

The Huge Impact of our Word Choices 

We are not always conscious of our word choices and the affirmation they give us.  “I can’t” is the first one that comes to mind.  That’s a show-stopper.  Feel the difference in these words: That’s easy.  That’s too far.  That’s hard.   That’s exciting. That’s fun.  I love this. That is beautiful.  My heart is open.  I feel the connection. All is well in my world.  

Just notice the words you say to yourself and others as you move through your day.  And perhaps rethink some of your word choices…

Where is Your Sanctuary?

A sanctuary is a place for refuge, a place of safety.  Where is your sanctuary?

Sometimes we find sanctuary in nature.  Sometimes we find sanctuary in music.   Sometimes we find sanctuary in family or friends. 

I have a pretty even life going on so the idea of seeking sanctuary is a bit odd for me but what promoted this was the idea of a “garden as refuge.” To me that means a place of serenity, tranquility, contemplation.  

My entire home is a sanctuary, a place of nurturing and restoration, a place of creativity and discovery.  And every day in ceremony, I set up protection and raise its vibration.

Sanctuary means a place where you can be alone – with just you and your thoughts and feelings. You might find sanctuary in the ring support of others, but the sanctuary I’m thinking of is where you go to be with yourself. Do you set aside time to do that?

I have a morning ceremony in which I sit and look out at nature and play my flutes and drums and tuning forks and offer my intentions for the day and draw my oracle card.  That is a sacred time for me – a meaningful time –  and it sets the tone for my day.

Dictation

Have you learned to dictate to your computer yet? It is a most freeing and amazing technique to master.  

On a Mac Choose Edit > Start Dictation (from the Edit menu at the top of your screen).

Tip: If dictation is set up, you can also press the Function key (fn) on your keyboard twice to start dictation.

This is super fast.  That function key is in the lower left hand corner so it’s very handy.  When the microphone appears, start talking.  And be sure to speak the punctuation like “period” or you will have one doozy of a run-on sentence….

(Sorry, can’t help you on a PC.)

I’ve begun to dictate a lot and I love it!  It also spells better than I do….

The Seven Sacred Rays – A New Offering

I am still tingling as I write to share this.  I am taking shamanic class from Puma Fredy Quispe Singona and we are studying the Seven Sacred Rays.  We began with the red and orange ray.  I took a journey to the Red Ray yesterday but today I took a journey to the Orange Ray and I am still tingling all over as I write this. After my journey, I immediately begin to write the first draft of a guided meditation journey I will share with you in a future podcast. I wrote the first Deeper Song Guided Meditation to the Orange Ray.  It is very powerful and I will record a guided journey/meditation for each of the Seven Sacred Rays.  But meanwhile, I have just written a first draft and allowed myself to be deeply guided as I did.  There are many steps to take before I share it with you – journey for guidance, writing the script, recording, editing, but this series is a high priority. So here we go adventuring – together.

I have just begun my work with the Seven Sacred Rays but the message I am receiving is that the Seven Rays are portals to the Unseen World. They are our connection, our bridge.  We must simply expand our awareness, raise our sights, and journey on. This is incredibly powerful work and it has just begun.

I think I even misread the concept.  The post said to rethink our services page from the standpoint of a visitor.  I like the idea of reviewing my website but since I only offer podcasts and newsletters I have no services page and I went to my About page.  I made some major changes that sharpened my focus. 

If you have a website, I suggest you review it yearly to see if it still reflects what you are doing and where you are heading.  

I’m going to do fewer personal growth posts and move more deeply into the Unseen World. I very much need to shorten my newsletter but I get excited and want to share.  

Whether you are an entrepreneur or have a job, write your who-and-do-what statement to get a handle on where you are and where you would like to go.

So that (what your work teaches/frees them to do. 

If that is your goal, how are you delivering that result?  Do you need to update your offerings? How do you need to redefine and reposition in today’s new and unfolding energy?

Revision

“Revision” is the oracle card I drew for us. We are constantly revising our direction as we change our choices. We are consciously and constantly revising our conclusions as we gain more information. So does revision mean new information? Does revision mean leaving some things out? I like the idea of revising my thinking. As these new process podcasts emerge, I am  revising my thinking about what they should be like, what they should contain, what the order is. So new information and new viewpoints are some of the qualities that go into making a revision. 

What do you need to revise? What do you need to let go?  Revision can be about a total rearranging and it can also be revising one word. One phrase. What are you going to revise in your life and how are you going to do it? Oh yes, and when are you going to do it???

Give Yourself Time

It isn’t that I haven’t been getting the messages, it’s that I hadn’t been heeding the messages.  I thought I had a huge breakthrough.  I re-wrote my who-and-do-what statement and it allowed many ideas to simply drop away and I felt myself rise into my new place of service. 

But in looking back over my notes from both my shamanic journeys and my notes from my daily oracle card drawings, the ideas for this change in direction have been hammering me on the head until I finally got the message.  The clues and suggestions were there – again and again, and again.  And yet the day it all came together for me was like being shot out of a cannon.  Many ideas and possibilities dropped away because they were not included in this new mission statement, this new definition of my purpose. They were no longer a part of my Grand Plan.

And it has taken months.  

And yet the day it all came together, it was like feeling myself rise to the surface ad begin to swim in strong sure strokes.  I knew my new purpose and my destination.  It feels great 

The Universe is talking to you. The Universe is showing you.  And each nudge takes you closer to where you are to do next. 

Notice what you need to free up in order to make room or this new awareness to unfold.  It has been important for me to make space to ask myself what I feel like doing – and then do that.  I was too crowded with have-to’s that I had made up to have time for many feel-like times. 

I also had to accept an idea that has bothered me since I first heard it. Last year Shamanist Ingerman said some of us were going into a new level of consciousness and it was our job to help others find the bridge and cross it or not.  Not everyone would come over and that really bothered me.  And yet, as I do a reality check on what I can and cannot do at 88, there is not much I can do on the physical plane to address physical plane needs, but I can do a lot on the inner planes.  I take a reality check to see where my choices have led me, see how aligned I am with my overarching goal, and chose my next steps that I can and will joyously do. Then I clarify my over-arching purpose. I’m like a helium balloon being let go to soar off into the sky.  

So here’s my updated who-and–do-what statement.  In many ways, it’s not new, except for the final step which allows me to stop doing some of what I was doing and focus on the adventures into the unseen world that I cherish.

So that we can cross the bridge to a new dimension and bring others along with us.n
