We are all born, figure out some version of life, and die. What you do with your version of life is totally up to you. Your choices, your actions, your responses – all yours. What we make of our life is up to us. How are you doing on your path?
Do some paths look happier, better, more desirable than yours?
What is it you would like more of? Don’t tell me money, because money is not happiness. Talk to me about qualities you’d like to embrace, like serenity, contentment, mindfulness, and compassion. Don’t even ask for love because you can give yourself all the love you could every want.
If there’s someone you admire, notice how that person helps others, how they’re in service and what elements from their life you might bring into your own life. What can you change in your life that will make you feel different, help you have a more meaningful experience? Go do more of that.
We send out a constant stream of ripples
I’m a philosopher. I have a strong tendency to look beyond the obvious and see what lies behind. A person I interact with constantly sees other people as difficult. My tendency is to point out the other side, the possible feelings of the person she sees as difficult. I probably do it too much, but I can now see how loneliness or fear can create a negative response that can be interpreted as self-focused or spiteful.
After one such conversation she said, “You help me be a better person.” When better ripple could I ask for?
Focus on your inner life
When you are self-aware, when you have found ways to nurture yourself, when you approach each moment with mindfulness, you will find the satisfaction you seek. If you want to copy someone’s lifestyle, seek the most serene, peaceful person you can find and see what you can learn of her spiritual practice and life choices. Bring some of that into your life.
Celebrate your personal growth
How have you changed? Are you more mindful? Are you more present? Do you allow life to simply unfold? These are successes worth celebrating. Whatever spiritual path you need to walk to achieve inner peace, pursue it. Take the detours that beckon, sit by the stream that nurtures you, bask in the revelation of your dreams. This is your journey, your walk, your path. No one else takes that exact same journey. Leave others to their life experience. Stay focused on your own growth.
Embrace the changes
Just as the cycles of nature are constantly evolving, so our lives are in constant change. Nothing is permanent. So why get attached? Nothing will stay the same. Why try to stop it?
Allow the flow of life to guide your steps. Be open to whatever shows up and shape it in the moment.
What do you want right now in your life? What are you ready to release? What do you want to have more of in your life?
Each moment is filled with opportunity. Let go of your goals and expectations. Be in the present moment. Walk the path before you. Enjoy whoever shows up to walk even a small distance with you.
Be open to what life brings
Each person is a gift. Each circumstance is an opportunity. Each choice is a lesson. That’s life. That’s the path everyone walks. Make your journey in mindfulness and embrace the natural flow of change.
