There are two reasons you need to learn to embrace change: you are constantly changing and your environment is constantly changing. Change is on-going. Change is never-ending. There is no way to avoid change. What kind of a system do you have in place to help you make self-aware choices that will lead you to positive change?
You have changed: You know more than you knew last week.
Each day you gain knowledge that leads to a deeper understanding of a situation, a topic or you own desires. You may have an opportunity to explore a new concept. Your self-awareness deepens. Your beliefs may change. You may realize that you need to learn new skills, change some of your habits, or perhaps learn a new system. As you respond to your environment, you gain more knowledge and clarity.
Your skills have changed. You have more experience.
Whatever you do today, you do better than you did yesterday. You have more skill, more understanding, more comfort with the process. What you know, what you understand and how you feel, all go into you decisions. That means new choices and new changes. These daily life experiences are the foundation upon which you base your next decision.
Your wants, wishes and desires have shifted.
A new idea crosses your path and your desire shifts. A new project is undertaken and your needs change. A new opportunity show up. A person unexpectedly impacts the direction of your life. It’ is important to be fluid and flexible as you move along the flow of life. Allow yourself to be carried along with the unfolding energy of each day and be willing to explore any path of opportunity that shows up.
Your body changes
According to metaphysics, your body does not need to decline in vibrancy as it ages. If you buy into the belief that old age means being decrepit, that’s what you will attract. If you believe that your body can support and sustain you in a vibrant lifestyle all the way to your transition, then that’s what you will attract. Change your thinking, change your life.
Your environment changes
The world is constantly changing and with the internet, ideas are being shared around the world. There is new technology to learn, new sources of information, new ways to connect. Information is at your fingertips. World situations are expressed from many vantage points. Increased awareness of our world affects our beliefs and our choices.
Man has made changes in the environment that affect us all. The food supply is in jeopardy from GMO. You can educate yourself on its dangers – or not. You can keep eating what you’ve always been eating or you can switch to an organic, plant-based diet. When you educate yourself, you will probably want to to make changes that reflect your new knowledge.
Your consciousness changes
You may be touched by the plight of an animal and start paying attention to the care of animals in our food chain and in the wild. You may look around you at the waste and decide to live more simply, to consume less, use less, keep less and own less.
As your consciousness changes so do your actions and words. I’ve become vegan since I realized that there are no animal rights for food animals. I’m moving toward minimalism because I have moved to a smaller space, live alone, and simply have no need for as many possessions. I study Taoism, working to embrace a simple spiritual life. As my consciousness changed so did the focus of my place of service. All of these changes took time and contemplation on my part. With each new step I embraced a deeper level of awareness that was extraordinarily liberating.
As we mature, we become more aware. We take time to examine our beliefs and dreams and reality. As we understand ourselves, we make powerful, positive, conscious choices. We release those beliefs that no longer serve us. We align our dreams with our passion.
Develop your own system for embracing change
Because change is ever-present, you need to develop your own system for embracing change. There are many places to begin. Answer the questions below. You can encompass any time period – the last year, the past three months, the past week. As you consider each area, write down how you feel about what you discover.
What you have learned, what new skills you have added?
How do you feel about that?
How has your passion changed?
How do you feel about that?
How has your physical presence changed?
How do you feel about that?
How has your work life changed?
How do you feel about that?
How have your relationship changed?
How do you feel about that?
How satisfying is your spiritual life?
How do you feel about that?
Look over your list and choose the area that stimulates the most emotion for you. Begin to structure steps you can take to make the change you desire.
Change is ever present. We change. Our world changes. Our needs change. Our desires change. Tale time to explore, examine and make choices that lead you to the positive changes you truly desire.
