Leave Openness Open

Leave Openness Open

Adventures in the Unseen World

The instructions I was given after the releasing ceremony were to not be in any hurry to fill up the space that had been created.

How eager we are to fill a void.

But what if you had just released a huge fear, or blockage or….? You would be left with an empty space.

Sit in the newly opened space for a while

There is much to be learned by sitting in emptiness.  By sitting in silence. In simply experiencing our Great Nothingness.

The longer you put off adding things to the space you have cleared by using a releasing ceremony, the more opportunity this newly opened inner space has to heal and clear out even more unwanted or stagnant energy.

In Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) you begin with an empty space and use very few items. They let the space decide what they should choose and they add mindfully to the total arrangement one element at a time.

Honor the empty space you have created by simply embracing and welcoming the empty space.

Can you let the space embrace you?

What does it feel like to sit in an empty space?  If you experience a window in this inner world, can you feel the sun shine in or the soft air enter?  If a leaf comes in the window and drops to the floor, it will capture all your attention for it is the only thing to look at.

That’s how it works when you sit in the empty space of your inner self.   First, you notice the stillness of the space you have created. Then you notice your breath. With a relaxing outgoing breath you settle into the calm stillness of the open space you have created.

Sit there a while and don’t add anything else. Feel surrounded by emptiness. Feel embraced by emptiness. Experience the serenity of the silence. This is  your sacred space.  Don’t be in any hurry to fill it.

Be selective

Your mind is going to try to kick in here because that’s what our minds do.  But not every idea that knocks on the door needs to be let in. Take a centering breath and become aware of how the idea feels.  How does it fit into what you want to create at this point in your life?  You may reject things you used to love because you have explored enough or no longer need them in our life, or have found a new way to express your passion.

Take a moment to see where this new opportunity may take you. Is that where you want to go?  Who you want to travel with?

When you finally select something to bring into your empty space, hold it on your lap for a while and stroke it. Feel its energy. If it is flexible, wrap it around your body, bring it closer to you.  In every moment notice how this idea feels.  Does it support you or is it restrictive? Is it exciting or comforting or…?  Identify the emotion it holds. for you.

Perhaps you have to allow the idea to become more mature before you accept it into your open inner space. My spiritual practice is very full of actions and elements that I love to use.  However, it has gotten so big that I am not doing it with the same perseverance that I used to.  So if a new idea comes in, I get to see how it fits in what I have going on now and if it needs to replace something.

Choose

You have now let three or four things into your space to consider when you know you only have room for one or two in your life.  You always want to ask your inner guides for guidance. They can see the future.  They can see the overview.

You may simply hold each energy form and contemplate it. Feel which ones are for now and which ones are for later or perhaps not yours to do at all.

Accept one thing at a time

When you decide to let something into this cleared space you have created within yourself, sit with it a while.  Be with it. Meld with it.  Look at its potential.  You may decide then and there that you only want to have a middle-sized version of that opportunity in your life.  It’s like choosing the right-sized chair for the space you have available.

Take as long as it takes

Spend time being in your cleared space and enjoy the feeling of tranquil emptiness.  Your inner space that is now awaiting new options – new pathways to new opportunities. Within you.

Choose one and experiment

Take small steps as you absorb and incorporate and explore a new aspect that you have allowed into your sacred inner world.

And don’t be afraid to clear the space any time it gets overwhelming or too crowded or gets filled with all the wrong stuff!!!

Enjoy the emptiness.  Cultivate emptiness.  Be emptiness.

Deeper Song Affirmation

I perform a releasing ceremony and then sit with the cleared space for a long time before making any choices of what to let in.

A Deeper Song Process

  • Create a Releasing Ceremony For Yourself
  • Sit with the cleared space and enjoy its emptiness, its spaciousness. Its stillness.
  • When it feels right, choose one thing to let into the cleared space and take your time determining what size and how many you want to let in.

  • Explore the steps it will take to accommodate this new item in our life and have that be part of your decision about out to proceed.
  • Choose that or look at other options. Take your time.
  • Repeat often.
