The yellow brick road is a path to happiness. You can make your own and allow it to lead you exactly where you want and need to go.
Follow the path that shows up beneath your feet. You start from where you are now, in this moment, and take a step forward. That next step allows you a new view, a new perspective. That’s a lot to get from a single step.
“Walk on your own yellow brick road.
If you can’t find one, spray paint your way into happiness.
If that doesn’t work, buy yellow shoes.”
― Sadiqua Hamdan
Be flexible in your travels
A recent desire to figure out how to post on YouTube showed me immediately that I needed a logo. That meant I had to become very clear about what content I was going to put there. That led me to think of logos. That detour helped me remember a logo from my past that was perfect. I didn’t end up close to where I thought I was going. Be flexible as you travel your yellow brick road. Wander from side to side and even take a detour or too.
Decide which path to travel
Each idea I have has a string connecting it to a decision I must make. That decision is thoroughly connected with another decision. It can be overwhelming. When you come to a turning point, a choice of direction, pause and consider. What is your over-arching objective? What do you want to accomplish? Whom do you want to help?
Your purpose is bigger than you
The logo I found in my unexpected wandering is a phoenix rising. As a person redefining herself at 82, that’s what I feel like. But the Deeper Song Community I am forming is so much bigger and more important than my personal identity. The logo has to belong to the group. Understanding my over-all purpose helped me make that decision.
This is huge for me. I’m not selling anything to anyone. I’m gathering together the kind of people I need to enrich my own life. I am benefitting personally, even as I create a space for us to gather.
Examine the barriers for their lesson
All the confronts I faced from the simple desire to learn how to post on YouTube led me to make major decisions and commitments. It was frustrating and disheartening as I kept finding things I didn’t have or didn’t yet know how to do. But now I know what steps I need to take. Now I have made some decisions about the purpose of this aspect of my work. The bumps and barriers and detours were all part of my developing awareness.
Move at your own pace
I am surrounded by potential. I am also surrounded by incomplete ideas and project. But yesterday, I found the perfect logo for the Deeper Song Community. Today is another adventure.
