I row my boat alone.
A bit slower with age,
me and my boat,
but still floating,
sill going on.
Adventurous,
me and my boat.
I have a sail now.
It catches the breeze
and helps me along.
We don’t’ do
mountains any more,
only oceans –
when they are calm.
I am a wave in the ocean.
Each time I dip my oar
it sends a ripple.
As does yours.
Are we sailing
in the same direction?
Eventually.
How I steer my boat is up to me.
How full I keep my sail
is for me to choose.
I can rest my oars
and take full sail.
Or I can keep up
a steady rowing pace.
It is my boat
And my journey.
But I row my boat alone.
