===INNER WORK===

Deepen Your Inner Awareness

  Are You Meditating Enough?

I have just recently realized that I’m not meditating enough. So my first step was to find where I wanted to fit meditation in my life. And I found it. It’s after I am dressed and ready for my day. But my day has not yet begun. If I wait too long there are interruptions, to take my blood pressure and give out pills.

I have a transcendental meditation mantra that is very powerful that I use and I experimented with different time of day to see what resonated the most. So I have the time and the place and the motivation.

It’s always good to start your day with meditation but it’s also really good to use meditation as a quieting bridge between your workday and your evening/family time/me-time. It helps to change your energy and your focus.

I have other spiritual things I do in my day like drum to nature and sing to the directions and work with my crystals and other items on my altar but I had not stopped to quiet my mind and meditate. And that’s going to make a huge difference in my life. How do you need to improve or change your meditative practice?

Become Aware Of The Negative Beliefs That Are Holding You Back

“I can’t, I don’t know how, I would not be very good at that.” What are your negative beliefs and how prevalent are they in your thinking?

They show up in sneaky understated ways and we quickly magnify that into: I’m not good enough,” or “I can’t do that,” and we are stopped dead in their tracks.

I like to look at the new ideas as invitations to explore. And if it comes to me, I dip my toe in far enough to know if I want go in much further.

I pause to explore the potential and possibilities. A pause to visualize and try it on for size and see how it feels. I pause to imagine, imagine potential, imagine the possibilities, imagine myself on that path. You can use your imagination as a fitting room to try on any of the ideas that come your way.

Keep an eye out for the negative beliefs that are holding you back. “I’m not good enough, I’m not worthy enough, I don’t know how to do that.” Sweep it out of your mind. And imagine yourself standing in an empty room with the windows wide open, and let those ideas come in and see how they feel, and watch the potential path they will take, and how your life might manifest if you took that particular path. When you clear out the stuck places, the beliefs that are holding you there, you will find the right answer and take the right action and the right path.

Let Journaling Deepen Your Awareness

Writing things down clarifies them. It opens up another layer to be examined. Use journaling to deepen your awareness.

I have a tendency to journal any excuses I give to not get things done so I can examine them and change them.  Find your own way to open new doors and close those that are no longer needed.

===SELF-HEALING===

Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself

”Me” Time

Let’s pretend you have a whole day to yourself with no obligations or responsibilities – just a wonderful clear day to fill as you will. What will you do? This is not about resting, or recuperating; it is about deepening your soul awareness, nurturing your inner and outer self. What comes to mind? What would you do first?

Do you want to be alone? Is there someone you want to be with? What would it feel like to lying on the grass and watch the clouds shift and listen to the sounds of nature? What about you? What in your life needs nurturing right now?

Let’s begin with self-love. Do you need to be in nature? Do you need to meditate? Do you need to study? Is there one person you would be nurtured by being with? Only you can tell. Only you can choose.

How do you nurture yourself every day? I always find something I read makes me turn and write a little something for this newsletter. That makes me add it to my life and offers it you for yours for consideration. I keep expanding my spiritual practice as I sit here by my window overlooking the garden. I am exploring sound healing on my own body. I worked with physical therapy to learn to walk in my new blue shoes with lifts.

You make a difference simply walking through your day. Make sure your energy is clear and focused on being light, and focused on being inclusive and loving.

”Me” time does not necessarily mean alone time but it certainly must contain something nurturing that can expand your awareness and possibilities.

See if you can have a whole day, designate to self-care, self-love, self-nurturing, self-wisdom. And do it often. How do you spend “Me Time”?

Find Meaning In Your Challenges

Every challenge is a time to rethink, reconsider, relearn, and reorder.

What is the lesson? What are your choices? Where will each of the choices lead you? A challenge is a perfect time to see what lessons are being offered and which ones you want to accept.

It could be a physical challenge that you have to figure out how to work with or workaround or fix. It could be a challenge of interaction, as in how to interact with a certain person, or a certain situation, and what kind of choices are open for you to make and where they lead.

It might be an opportunity to look deeply within and further identify your values, beliefs, and the path you choose to follow.

Challenges are there in order to help you grow. They make you consider, evaluate, and make choices that impact your life. Welcome them. Find meaning in your challenge and let it take you to a new level.

===OUTER WORK===

Explore New Potential and Possibilities

The Power of Being Self-Sufficient

We experience a feeling of confidence and independence when we are able to complete all that we wish to accomplish without having to rely on anyone else. It is powerful to be self-sufficient. We can go down any path when we are self-sufficient.

How do you become self-sufficient? You learn to trust your own instincts, your own urges, and you act on them.

Pause throughout your day today and notice how strongly you are standing in your own power.

Bring Compassion To Every Situation

It takes some practice. I don’t come across very many conflicting situations but I do know I can bring compassion to some of the more extreme positions in the world and in this country today. I do not encounter rational negative positions in long term care but I think my response would be two things – send positive energy to that person and walk away.

How do you transform a negative situation into a stable, healthy vibration?

Understand The Impact Of Your Presence

I’m just being me. Wisecracking, introspective, always-thinking-me, but I am having impact. Some of which I know about, some I don’t. We may or may not recognize the impact of our conversations with others, but we definitely don’t know what happens when that person turns and shares those insights with other people in their lives. Our impact has a ripple effect and we must trust that it reaches the most impactful shores.

You may be present during a confrontation and say nothing, but yet your mere presence may have had a balancing and calming impact.  You may have made a casual observation that someone took to heart and made major changes in their lives. And sometimes we have impact by what we leave unsaid. Do not underestimate the impact of your presence. Open your heart and simply be.

Expand Your Comfort Zone

It sure is easy to play it safe – to not explore or experiment or even consider new ideas. Your current comfort zone has served you, but it represents behaviors and patterns from your past. And if you don’t want to stay stuck you have to explore and experiment.

How will you expand your comfort zone today?

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness

In This Moment

We waste so much time with what ifs? What if I did that? What if I had not done that? But those moments are over. Those times no longer exist.

Yesterday is gone, whatever we did or did not do is over. Tomorrow is not here, it’s not time to immerse ourselves in tomorrow. What we have is “now”. The glorious open-ended full-of-opportunity “now” that is our life.

Are you fully present in this gift of each moment? That means not thinking ahead, and not reviewing the past. It may mean looking out the window to be present in the miracles that are there. It may mean moving into meditation to contemplate ceremony.

Notice where you focus your attention. And stay present in the moment.

Create Space For The Unknown

When we fill our life with clutter, we leave no space for the unknown. When we fill our life with expectations, we leave no space for the unknown.

Mental clutter, physical and emotional clutter are all things that rise up to grab our attention and keep us from simply being present.

I’m talking about simple things, like completely stopping what you were doing and turning to watch the birds feed at the bird feeder outside your window. Be present with them. And their day. And their life.

I’m talking about pausing in your work to notice things you have around you, the pictures on the wall, the objects you have placed around you. Be with your environment. Let the plants nurture you.  Let the silence nurture you.  Empty yourself and sit in the stillness and absorb that stillness into your soul.

There is no time when it is not now so dwelling in the future and past are not productive or beneficial.

Sit in silence. Breathe, clear your mind, and immerse yourself in the silence. See how long you can keep from having a thought. Perhaps focus on your breathing. Perhaps see yourself as a shapeshifting cloud in the sky slowly making a change.

Slow down. Simply be present. Don’t be too eager to jump on whatever ideas and thoughts show up. Expand your emptiness to make space for breathing.

Silence clears space. It clears the space of mental chatter and all manner of distractions.

In a quiet space in a contemplative mood, make space for the Unknown, what does it want you to consider? What does it want you to observe? What does it want you to explore? Check in again. Let it surprise you. Let it take you down unexplored paths. Be adventuresome. Be thoughtful. And listen. The universe will speak to you in very clear tones. But first you have to sit quietly and create space for the unknown to make itself known.

=== ===THE UNFOLDING DIVINE FEMININE=== ===

Explore and Interpret the Guidance and Messages of the Divine Feminine

Masculine Versus Feminine

I have to change my thinking. The Yin Yang symbol is a circle with equal parts dark and light and each half continues into a bit of the other.  We each contain both the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine. But I have been thinking of them as separate and the Divine Masculine as a current enemy of sorts. Since the Divine Feminine is rising at this point, I get to really look at that concept and not be so mad at the masculine side, particularly the old white men.

This is a time of rebalancing and redefining – a time of change for the world.

“Do not seek answers outside yourself.” That’s another reminder of something I already know but need to remember since the world is in such a mess.

I liked the concept of Portals of Possibilities and the freedom to explore divergent dimensions.

I also realize that I’ve been examining the idea that we don’t have to raise our vibration, we already are a high vibration. How to become aware of it and live from that viewpoint, I need to explore. Every time I hear the concept of raising our vibration I think, “No, we already are high vibration, we just have to figure out how to live that, believe that, reflect that and be aware of it. I want to explore that.

===CARA’S CORNER===

Pat Your Plants

I am having a very hard time growing plants in my new space. I don’t know why.

Scientists like Peter Wohlleben, the famous German “tree herder” said this about the awareness of plants—that they can see, talk, recognize relatives, and even teach.

I have to give that some thought and I have to look into my relationship with three plants I have. Only one is doing well and that’s because it was purchased fairly recently in a store.

I have never had to work hard to care for my plants before, they sort of independently did their thing and sometimes I appreciated them more than other times.  For someone who only has three plants to get to work I have to think about this and how it will change my actions — plants can see, talk, recognize relatives, and even teach.

(Note: on the way out of a meeting today I saw a heart-shaped philodendron on a file cabinet and asked for a start. I got one and its now encouraged to grow roots in a cup of water. I will start chatting and talking to it and encouraging it.

What does this mean for the time you get to spend in nature? Do you sit down and talk to a tree. Do you ask a plant for guidance and advice? Do you listen to the conversation of the plants around you? What do you hear? What do you learn?

Have you ever talked to a tree? Have you ever stroked the leaves of a plant and talked to it? I’m going to start doing that with the few plants I have around me.

Everything is energy. All things have wisdom and insights to share. Learn to listen and interpret. Begin by learning from the plants around you and enjoy the conversation.

===SING A DEEPER SONG ===

Love In Nature

I have to talk to my plants more. I have to tell them that I love them. I have to tell them that I need them. I need to pat their leaves in appreciation.

I have to talk to my plants more. I have to tell them that I love them. I have to tell them that I need them. I need to pat their leaves in appreciation. Then I have to listen, and open myself up to receiving their message.

I have to talk to my plants more. I have to tell them that I love them. I have to tell them that I need them. I need to pat their leaves in appreciation. Then I have to listen, and open myself up to receiving their message. What will I hear? What will I feel? What will our conversation be about?

The Power Of Your Blessing

The Power Of Your Blessing

Living Our Deeper Song

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
 The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

For a moment I was stopped by the word “blessing” and I paused to see why. I realized I had momentarily gotten caught up in the religious definition of blessing and didn’t think I had the power to do so. It was the job of someone of a higher station or impact than I saw myself. I looked up the synonyms for blessing – dedication, grace, absolution, benediction, commendation, consecration, invocation – and I began to see why I felt that I could not offer a blessing. So for me the word ‘blessing” was tied to a person of status being permitted to bless, a status I wasn’t certain I had achieved. And that is not true.

This came up for me in a meditation by Roel Crabbe in which he said, “Offer your blessings”. And I realized I was an occasional “good luck” or a blessing before meals person but I had not added many places in my life in which I offer a blessing.

I found my answer in Shamanism. “Blessings are special ceremonies intended on ushering in positive energy.” I can do that. You can do that. We can bless anything with a spirit (and that’s everything).

Ceremony is used to usher in positive change. The change of seasons, a move to another environment, a change to a new job, to your home, to your day.  You can bless anything with a spirit – and that’s everything in shamanism. I/we have some work to do.

Where will you send your blessings and how will you send them? What kind of ceremony will you create? It could be long or short. It could be anytime and anywhere. It begins with an intention that then becomes draped in a ceremony of your design.

I sing and drum to the directions each day but I hadn’t thought of it as a blessing to my day. I can deepen my intention. I have gotten out of the habit of offering a blessing of gratitude to the food that I receive, to the people who grow it, the people who transport it, the people who prepare it. They all deserve my gratitude and blessings for the work that they do.

Blessings are special ceremonies intended on ushering in positive energy.

I have a daily ceremony to clean away any negative or unsupportive energy that was released during the night and I put up a protective shield of positive energy around the space I live in.  I send a blessing to the well-being of my body and its self-healing. I send a blessing of protection out to the world – for planet Earth and its inhabitants. I do that every day.

I’m going to expand the ceremonies that I use to begin my day. I bless my work in general but I can use more specific phrases than “bless my work”, like “may the words touch hearts and change lives.” I can say, “My body continues to strengthen and support my work in the world.”

How active is your “blessing practice”? Make a conscious choice and make it creative, timely and tune into what’s going on in your life and smooth the pathway with a blessing. See it as a living and powerful door-opener for positive change.

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

I mindfully expand my spiritual practice by offering blessings.

DEEPER SONG PROCESS

  • Create a blessing for your work or anything you share with others. I have a blessing in my books but I am going to begin to consciously bless this newsletter. Even though my intention is to change lives and offer new thoughts, up until now I have not had a ceremony of completion as I send it out.
  • I will get more detailed and creative and imaginative in a blessing that I offer each day.
  • I will consciously set up a protective transformative shield before I go to sleep and in the morning consciously release anything that does not serve me. It will be a ceremony of creating sacred space in which to rest.
  • There are many ways to design a blessing of change. The Solstices and Equinox come to mind. The beginning of each week also deserves a blessing and gratitude.
  • Where will you add blessings?

===INNER WORK===

Deepen Your Inner Awareness

Seek Silence

“In the attitude of silence, the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. “ – Mahatma Gandhi (1869 – 1948)

I could spend more time in contemplative silence. I have an active spiritual practice but I need to spend more time in meditative silence. It’s simply a conscious, aware choice I need to make. Contemplating silence. An empty mind. Space for Spirit to speak to me.  I can do that…

Creating Miracles

The two things that block us from believing we can create miracles are our perception of separateness and the fact that we don’t believe we can create miracles.

Let’s begin with feeling separate.

Close your eyes and put energy around your body and connect with source energy. It is all powerful, ever present, it is who we are. We are light energy expressing ourselves as humans. When we remember our source connection, our source existence, we can touch and change everything. Then it is our responsibility to keep our focus on being light and working for the highest good for all. That is our job. To be light. To radiate out light.

We do that by making certain we live light, as light. It is a matter of conscious choice.

What is a miracle and can we make one?

A miracle is simply something that we often believe we can’t create. Sometimes it is a small shift or experience that feels like a miracle because it was unexpected and unplanned. Miracles often surprise us because they seemed impossible and are often unexpected.

What happens if you changed that belief?  What happens if you started expecting a miracle? Perhaps you’d like to give it a try.

Explore yourself as the light you are and experience your radiant power.

 ===SELF-HEALING===

Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself

Healing With Music

Music can be healing and balancing and stimulating. In David Gibson’s sound healing book he suggests making a personal music list according to these categories:

1.To wake up to

2.To get inspired

3.To calm down or go to sleep

4.To open the heart (without the nostalgia)

5.To connect to Source

6.For learning

7.To be productive mentally and/or physically

8.To meditate

9.Opening your creative channels

10.Helping you to focus on a project

11.Relieving specific pain

12.Working with a specific illness or disease.

You can also categorize your list this way: Is it good for:

1.Grounding

2.Clearing emotions or activating you sensually.

3.Empowering you.

4.Opening your heart.

5.Creativity and expressing your heart or thoughts (also good to tone or sing with).

6.Opening the third eye and accessing your intuition about things.

7. Connecting you to your Soul, Spirit or Source.

I have a number of classical pieces that fit this but Sibelius Violin Concert in D Minor by Camilla Wicks connects me to my soul. And this interpretation of the same piece by Hillary Hann  stirs me to action. If you have a song you like, check out various artists performing it and see how/if it changes your experience.

There are a lot of classical compositions that stir my soul. I will now go and identify them for this list. I will add a little Carol King and Rod McKuen. It will be fascinating to identify and use my personal play list. Will you join me?

I am Capable Of Healing Myself

I have not hard-wired this into my belief system yet but I’m working on it. I am surrounded by western medicine and caring staff but I am left on my own to do the holistic work – which I am doing with enthusiasm.

At the base is my belief in the wholeness of our/my energy. I need to tap that, cultivate that, encourage that and utilize that at all levels.

I am doing several things and the edema in my legs is getting better. We are doing new things on the physical level as members of nursing staff take care of me, but I have to work on the energy plane. I’m sending energy in the form of humming and toning. I’m doing the work. And it’s working.

What does it take for you to heal yourself? Do you need to up your game? Do you believe you are capable of healing yourself and how are you going about doing that?

===OUTER WORK===

Explore New Potential and Possibilities

Are You Living The Life You Want?

And if not, why not?

First you have to know what you want. You get to dream a bit, imagine yourself in different scenarios, try them on to see how they feel and how they fit you. Sometimes spending time to explore some “what ifs” is enough to send you down a new path of exploration.

You are never stuck, you are never locked in. You always have a choice. Go exploring and forge a new path for yourself. Make certain you are living the life you want.  Open yourself up to new adventures – and dip your toe in the water…

Highest Good For All

We must learn to choose the higher good for all.  I watch the Republican politicians ignore the needs of the majority of people in order to cultivate their own need for power.  People who are truly powerful are aligned with the majority of people.  They are flexible and creative. And they are focused on the highest good for all.

Politicians are theoretically caregivers of the people of their districts whether all those people voted for then or not.

Where are the statesmen?

Who are you responsible for caring for? At work? At home?  In your interactions with others?

Schedule Breaks

Adding breaks to stand up and move throughout your day is an incredibly powerful health choice. The “Pomodoro Technique” suggest that you work in focused 20 – 25 minute stints followed by a 3 – 5 minute break.

Set your timer and give yourself a break!

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness

Keep Ceremony In Your Spiritual Practice

As briefly mentioned in the opening of this newsletter, having daily ritual or ceremony in our lives is very important to keep us connected to what really matters. It is also a lovely bridge between the past and the future. We honor what has happened and envision our future. We examine our lessons and adjust our path. It is time to rethink and re-choose and step forward with fresh insights and determination.

Create a ceremony of cleaning and releasing as you begin your day. Develop a ceremony around preparing and eating a meal. Create ceremony around tidying and cleaning your space – arranging it to enhance the space, and organizing and clearing it for proficient use. Create a ceremony around beginning and ending work. Create a ceremony around being with family. A ceremony of being in nature. Walk through your day with ceremony and conscious awareness.

Notice Where Your Choices Have Led You

It is lovely to learn to trust your own path and the choices you made that got you where you are today. I think if we pause to reflect, we will see only valuable lessons that were learned as we made our choices.

Gratitude is a powerful reminder of the gifts we’ve been given and the choices we have made.

=== DEEPER SONG PHILOSOPHIES ===

Live Deliberately

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms…”

― Henry David Thoreau

Live deliberately. Live mindfully. Make your choices with deep awareness and consciousness.

How do you live deliberately? How do you suck out all the marrow of what you find around you so you’re sure you have received its deepest lessons and insights and blessings?

You have to make space in your life. You have to build in pauses in the form of moments of meditation, and by looking out the window and simply being present.

When you savor a meal you eat slowly, you are present with each bite, each taste, and the effect it is having on your body. That’s part of the experience of eating. You eat deliberately. You eat mindfully.

How do you live deliberately? How do you live with an expanded consciousness that allows you to experience all the world has to offer?

You need to slow down. You need to take mindful pauses. You need to be aware. And you need take time to savor each moment of your life.

Stillness open doors. Stillness will help you be present. Stillness works to focus your awareness.

Be still. Be present. Be aware. Be. And listen to the whispers of the universe. It is talking to you.

===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEARERS===

Expand Your Role in the Rapidly Evolving Universe

Stand Steady In Your Own Light

You may not like what I’m going to say here, particularly if you have been married for huge number of years, as in most of your life. But I am an advocate of cycles. A cycle to have a family, a cycle to develop a career, a cycle to develop a different career if you choose. And for me it is always about walking the path alone even if I joined up with someone for a portion of it. So my view is if two people stay together all of their lives, neither one of them will have had the opportunity to reach their full potential because there was always compromise as a couple. They were never free to fully explore and follow their own wisdom and calling. It was always compromise because of a relationship. Some people choose that.

I talked with someone recently who is not in a very good relationship but says she’s 55 and is hesitant to go off and live her own life. The majority of my friends are in their 60s and some are starting new careers or forgetting new paths for themselves. They have another 30 or 40 years to express a new calling and whatever new path or profession they decide to pursue. Some are going into healing, some are teaching. Some are expanding a long, cherished talent.

I am 90 and the role I am playing now as a bridge between Holistic Medicine and Western Medicine is the most important role I’ve had in my entire life. Circumstance brought me here, but probably it was fate and the direction I’ve been going in all my life. You never know when you’re going to step into your personal circle of influence where everything falls into place – your skills, your calling, your gifts, your perfect target audience.  Be ready to step into that. Be ready to let go of the familiar and explore your unique vision and touch the lives and hearts of those who are drawn to your light. Be a beacon. Stand steady in your own light so others can find you.

Your Role As A Wisdom Keeper

Raise Your Sights and Your Expectations

How Do You Share Your Wisdom?

The CEO brought his 15-year-old son in to see the unusual collection of items I use in my spiritual practice. I cheerfully demonstrated my Tibetan Singing Bows and Kalimba and even shared my heart rock with him which he felt in his chest.

I shared with a staff person how much I valued my choice to walk my path primarily alone, allowing the nudges and bops on the head that helped me expand my path.

I share my curiosity and my enthusiasm in this newsletter and one staff person says it is the highlight of her week.

Keep an eye out for when something you say resonates with and impacts another person. Not to keep score, just to become aware of how valuable and impactful your mere presence is. Keep finding new ways to share your wisdom.

===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===

Choose A Way Of Life That Fits Your Personality And Need Not Meet The Needs Of Others

If you were alone in the world without emotional connections or responsibilities, what would you do? How would you express your personality? How would you fulfill your needs? What would you say or do?

Begin with the word “no”. No, I don’t want to do that. No, I don’t want to experience that now. No, I don’t want to go in that direction. No is a very empowering word. You should use it with awareness and determination and a deep sense of power.

If you are involved with others as a parent or a spouse or an offspring, you have made compromises.  Where do you draw the line? How do you draw the line?

What unique gifts or unique lessons do you need to learn? Sometimes they are entwined. We may have an expanded gift of generosity that may allow ourselves to be run over by others.

Where do you draw the line? How do you draw the line?

Begin by noticing what others ask of you the most. It might be time, it might be physical support you are being asked for because you’re willing to give but where do you draw the line? And how do you draw the line?

I don’t think we are brought into this world to subjugate ourselves to the lives of another as a parent or child or spouse. We are here to fulfill our own destiny, to walk our own path.

Part of our responsibility is to not be pulled off course by the needs, demands, and requests and expectations of others.

Unless that’s what we allow ourselves to be.

What is your role? What do you want to do? What do you need to release in order to do that? Do that.

Make sure your way of life, the past you chosen and your interaction with others, fit your personality, your needs, and your overarching calling. Don’t compromise. You have a responsibility to fulfill. Do that.

Watch For The Nudges

The nudges were pretty big and a surprise to me. First the CEO asked me to speak to the leadership team. That totally surprised me but I was glad for the opportunity.

Then I was asked to give a talk to the residents of this long-term care community. I talked on sound healing because I knew it was empowering even for those win low mobility.

I have found myself in conversations about leadership with individuals who are leaders and even a conversation about leaving a non-supported relationship to stand on your own at age 60. I’ve been a bridge to a 15-year-old who held my gray river rock in his hand and said it touched his heart. I have opened new doors of exploration to 19-year-olds who are starting their journey. I have had people who work here say my newsletter is the highlight of their week. I get emails from around the world sharing the way my words have impacted their life, and made them think, and rethink their choices.

This newsletter is full of nudges. I read a phrase or sentence in my email notices and end up writing an entire segment on it in order to figure it out for myself and share it with you.

Call it a nudge, call it an alert, call it an unexpected circumstance or opportunity, or even something someone says that turns you in a whole different direction. These are our nudges from the universe. Pay attention and enjoy them as wisdom being shared for you to consider. Keep an eye out for the nudges of the universe and let them open new doors for you.

Align Your Vibration And Frequency To The Sources Of Life Around You

Be still and listen to the sounds of nature and the messages of peace and serenity it sends to you.

Feel our oneness. Oneness with nature. Oneness with others. Oneness with the planet. Oneness with the Cosmos. Immerse yourself in it. Let yourself rest and restore within the wholeness of that energy and move out into your life restored, replenished, walking in the light of wholeness.

Be in true union with Source. Align your vibration and frequency to the Sources of life around you.

Listen to the tonality and messages and interactions as friends and loved ones ask you to experience their ongoing love and support.

What are your thoughts telling you? What is your body telling you? What are your emotions telling you?

Sometimes it’s a simple matter of tuning in. Other times it seems to take a bop on your head to make you look and listen and reconsider.

Immerse yourself in the experience of being Source – one with All-That-Is. Experience our oneness. Experience the collective energy. Align yourself with the highest energy, the highest good for all and let it guide you through life.

Listen With Your Heart

When we begin to listen with our hearts rather than our heads, our whole world changes and becomes softer.

What is that person feeling underneath her words, and how can I touch her heart? What is she not saying that is still unspoken?

Listen with your heart to what their heart is trying to express. Perhaps you help them clarify their feelings. Perhaps you don’t. Perhaps you just listen. Then they can heal themselves and achieve their unspoken desires.

Listen deeply. Listen from that soul place of interconnectedness. Listen with your heart and experience our oneness.

===OUR EVOLVING FUTURE===

Support and Encouragement for our Unfolding Role in the Future

Your Work Ahead

We are to build our life on our Light Within. As we do, our light in the world grows brighter. That light attracts others who recognize their own light within and turn and share it with others. As more and more people recognize the power of their light and stay centered in it and share it with others, our whole world shifts.

What needs to change in your life?

Spend more time with people living in light and learn from them. Become a beacon in your own right. Focus on raising the vibration of your own personal choices. We are One. Feel that. Be that. Live that.

=== ===THE UNFOLDING DIVINE FEMININE=== ===

Explore and Interpret the Guidance and Messages of the Divine Feminine

The Divine Feminine Is about Inclusiveness

There is a lot of hatred in my country, hatred of the ideas of other people, hatred of their race, their culture, their sexual orientation, their mere existence.

I don’t know why it is there other than feeling inferior and not knowing what to do about it. These people are using Christianity to spread hatred. That makes no sense. I’m very holistic in my spirituality but I was Christian once and ‘love the neighbor as thyself” was and is a core doctrine.

What is happening? Why is hatred so core to the functioning of the entire group of people?

I believe in inclusiveness just as much as they believe in separateness. To look at this from the perspective of the emergence of the Divine Feminine, I know that inclusiveness is core to her work. Somehow this circumstance is making us choose. We must choose to be inclusive or we must choose hatred – which truly separates us from our hearts. It looks like a pretty easy choice to me. But apparently not to some others.

This is an evolutionary process but what will make them change their mind? And maybe that’s not even what we are supposed to do. Maybe we are just to continue living in light with as much inclusiveness and generosity in our own heart that we can manage. Those who are living in the light will see it and respond. Those who do not see it or care about it or resonate to it will let it pass by.

What is your path in life? Open your inclusive heart and let your choices and actions and words reflect your feelings of deep inner connection with others and All That Is. Be the light you are, so others will see that and recognize it in themselves. Keep shining.

===INTENTION BLESSING===

May we hear and heed the call of the Divine Feminine.

May we expand our hearts and our expectations.

May we walk the Path of Light with a sure foot.

May we keep our gaze on the summit.

May we take this journey with a full heart.

I entwine my light with yours as we move forward to guide the way.

===CARA’S CORNER===

The Energy You Keep Around You

I have a rather small desk but one of the things I have enthusiastically and lovingly made room for is the gray river rock that is a bridge to my heart chakra. In a small container, I have a crystal that speaks very strongly to my eyes. As someone with a fair amount of crystals, these are the ones that I choose to speak to and hold and be with several times a day.

My space is small and I can turn in my office chair and be with my crystals and my drums and my flutes. It is one dynamic end of my physical space filled with empowering energy.

If you were to expand your spiritual practice, what would you do? What would you add? When would you add it into your day?

Rearrange the space you spend time in. That could mean meditation space. It could mean a desk space. That could mean a look out the window space. Whatever elements you have in your spiritual practice, make sure they are supportive of what you need to do and how you need to do it.

I pick up my gray river rock many times throughout my day to center and focus myself in my heart. I pick up my merkaba crystal to heal my eyesight and expand my third eye and to take me more deeply into the spiritual realms for insights and guidance.

Check out the energy where you spend the most time – the energy around your workspace, around your bed, any place else that you spend time in the surrounding energy. See what needs to be changed, and experiment until you find the right configuration to support your intention for the space.

Are you nurtured by the energy you keep around you? Perhaps change or rearrange it. Put the energy of your room and your possessions and your intentions to work around you.

===SING A DEEPER SONG ===

Sacred Objects

The smooth grey river rock sits serenely on my desk waiting to be touched and held.

The smooth grey river rock sits serenely on my desk waiting to be touched and held. It is patient but demanding.

The smooth grey river rock sits serenely on my desk waiting to be touched and held. It is patient but demanding. I pick it up and accept its heart energy in many aware moments throughout my day. It hears me.

Lean Into The Edges Of Your Growth

Lean Into The Edges Of Your Growth

Living Our Deeper Song

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
 The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

Lean into the edges of your growth and trust what awaits you on the other side.

Are you asking enough of yourself? Are you exploring new paths? How are you leaning into the edges of your new growth?

I love the image of pushing forward and separating leaves to find a new facet within myself that I get to develop and share. What adventures await my discovery?

My major shift at 90 is to consider the possibility that I may have another 12-13 years on earth so I’m going to give more thought to what that can look like and what I want to accomplish.

How do I push the edges of my growth?

I expect to take more time to explore new concepts to see how I might work with them. This concept is an example. How do I lean into the edges of my new growth?

I’m thinking here…

I have to change my expectations of what is possible for me, for the world, for you.

I use my imagination. I’ve been using the phrase “Light Worker” for a number of years. I’m trusting that we learn to recognize the spiritual facets in ourselves and use our ability to turn and recognize similar qualities in others. We come together to join in a singular journey, to raise our own vibration, and hold our light higher so others recognize it in themselves and expand their work within.

We must continue to recognize and connect with other light workers and spiritual leaders in the world to expand our sphere of influence and become more creative. We have serious work to do.

Our Light Worker role will be individually defined and we must be on the alert for new doors that open and new roles to step into.

I could never have predicted that my new place of service would be with young professionals who are on the staff here. It is possible that sharing my view of aging and my expectations of our potential will resonate with someone else and they will lift their gaze.

How do you see yourself leaning into the edges of your growth?

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

I look for and explore possible new roles for me as a light worker.

DEEPER SONG PROCESS

  • The world is changing so rapidly. Do some exploring and find out what new place of service is beckoning to you.
  • Explore and choose a new path to explore and embrace.

===INNER WORK===

Deepen Your Inner Awareness

Take Time In Your Spiritual Practice

I was moving through the motions. I was not thoughtful or connected. I was repeating a pattern and had misplaced its meaning.

Is your spiritual practice like that? What do you change in order to have a more meaningful inner experience?

I like the steps I take, I just have to make certain I am fully present when I do them and take time to experience them on a deeper level.

First of all, I’m going to slow down and take my time to fully experience the process. I may rearrange the order or spend more time on a particular facet. I want to make certain I meditate each day. I might change the order or spend more time on one particular facet. I could change my intention and focus for that particular session. I want to slow down enough to feel it, to experience it, to be moved by it.

My rhythm changes each day. If I wake up with an idea I want to explore, that seems to have to take priority until I capture it.

I like to do my ceremonial work first thing but there is no reason why I can’t spread it out during the day. I can no longer see the sun set but I used to play my flutes while I watched the sky change.

When I was in New York City in the 80’s, I temped at Estée Lauder for a while, and one of the many female Vice Presidents (a rarity at the time) simply stopped what she was doing at 4 o’clock each day to put her feet up and have a glass of Perrier. She was not to be disturbed. How wise to take a deliberate and complete pause each day to center yourself.

When I took Transcendental Meditation in the 70’s it was suggested that meditating when you first get home helps make a smoother transition. Perhaps sit in your car and meditate to change your energy before you move into personal time.

I would like to establish a closing ceremony for my day that will help me turn off my mind. I will go within for a period of re-centering, reflecting and replenishing.

How will you rearrange the time and content of your spiritual practice?

Add Sacred Singing To Your Spiritual Practice

As a young girl I sang in the church choir. I sang second alto in the girls’ quartet in high school. I took singing lessons at the local college where I got to sing in the chorus of the opera Carmen. I sang in many choral groups throughout the years so I found it very interesting that I have not added more singing to my current spiritual practice. I do sing and drum to the directions as part of my opening my day ceremony but I want to make this new form of singing spontaneous.  I have no idea what that will be, I just very much like the intention.

It may be as simple as using my skin drum with its lovely resonance to set the tone.  Or I might use my long rain stick and see what that sound prompts in my singing. When I sing to the directions, I sing songs I make up but I want this to be intuitive singing that is free-flowing and creatively in the moment. Perhaps I won’t use words, just tones.  That would be freeing. I’ll just improvise and see what shows up.

How will you add sacred singing to your spiritual practice?

===SELF-HEALING===

Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself

How Do You Replenish Yourself?

Sometimes replenishing yourself is as easy as meditating or taking a nap. Other times it is much more involved. How do you actively replenish and nurture yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually?

===OUTER  WORK===

Explore New Potential and Possibilities

Become An Objective Evaluator

Your first job may not be the best path for you but because you are in it, you keep on going. Right?

Are you open to change? What will that look like?

Periodically pause in your life and see if you really love what you are doing. Does it bring you satisfaction? Pride? New challenges? New opportunities? Is it meeting your financial needs? Do you have time to nurture your soul? What new interests have you developed that might call you in a new direction? Are you open to change?

One strong step in choosing a new path to explore is to find an objection evaluator – someone who knows you and can give you objective feedback about your strengths and weaknesses.  Ask some of the people you respect and who know you to offer you feedback about how others see you.

Years ago, I kept an acknowledgement book in which I wrote down things that people said about me that surprised me because I had not been aware of that perception of me before. It helped me know myself better and sometimes it served as a morale booster.

Look back over the things you have done and examine what signs you have been given. I started writing for my high school paper as a sophomore and my senior year I was chosen to be Managing Editor because of my organizational skills. Those two skills have been called on constantly in my life.

I also know I am too assertive for some people and often move too fast so one of my leadership lessons has been to set a pace that brings everyone forward together.

Are you ready to move forward? Do you want to explore a new path? Find one or two objective observers to help you recognize the gifts that you have to offer.

What Makes You Feel Useful?

We often think of ourselves as being useful when we help someone do something. That may be physical, emotional mental or spiritual. This has been important to me because I’m currently the one getting all the help, so what am I giving back in my old age?

It’s important to feel useful but keep an eye out for the subtle ways you have impact. A staff member recently said to me, “I always learn something when I come in here.” We give to others in many ways we may not recognize.

We have two steps to take here.  First perhaps make a list of how you help others.  That will probably contain the obvious steps you take to help.

Now make a list of how you help others in more subtle ways.  Look at the things you take for granted – preparing a meal, cleaning the energy in a room by your cheery presence. Spend some time win this list so that you can begin to identify the subtler ways you help others.  It may be as simple as a cheery greeting to the school crossing guard as you walk your child to school.  (Do people still do that?) Our very presence may lift someone’s spirits.

Be conscious of your interactions and the most subtle impact they have.

The Past Got Me To Today

Every choice we make has lasting impact. I would not be the person I am today with the specific gifts I have to offer if I had not made the choices I did along the way.  Many of them were rather dramatic choices and they created powerful change and impact in my life.

I would not be where I am today if I had not listened to and acted upon my inner voice.  I trusted my inner voice after my first major decision and for all three major cross-country decisions I made thereafter.

There are consequences to my journey that brought me to where I am today but I wouldn’t change a thing. My choices along my path got me to where I am today. I am grateful for the journey.

Changing Times

2023 is a year of a big shift, new opportunities and unfolding paths.  The planets are aligned for new beginnings. What will you turn and do next?

I have identified a new direction and have begun to explore it. I have turned my back on what I have been doing and have turned to embrace my new path.  I hope it asks me to go on new adventures and develop new skills and gain new knowledge. All of that is quite exciting.

Of course, as I change my direction, I get to leave behind beliefs that no longer serve me. Those very specifically include what I believe I deserve and what I believe is possible.

Changing direction also means leaving behind attitudes and beliefs and expectations and perhaps even friends that you have outgrown.

Since this is a time of a new beginning spurred on by the alignment of the planets, where will you turn to explore next?

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness

Peace Pole

I may be given a Peace Pole and even if it doesn’t happen, it has been meaningful for me to design it. I wrote:

“I have several requests about the purpose of the Peace Pole if your friend is willing to make me one. I want it to be focused on healing the environment.  Gaia, Mother Earth. I like the color blue a lot. Elements that might be included are butterflies (for transformation) and the giraffe has been a power animal for me (overview) and I’m very drawn to bears. I have three small ones on my desk that I call “Intuition, Insight, and Imagination’. The spider is also symbolic for me because she builds her web from within and builds on what she finds around her. She also can’t see and so does everything by vibration.

I’m also aware of the potential and possibilities of space and I’m a little bit into the power of the planets in astrology. (I’m a Scorpio).

I actually picture a peaceful gradation from earth greens to sky blues. And I love the shape-shifting clouds of the mid-west.

As for size, if it were three feet tall, I would put it on the floor by the barrel chair on the side by the door so people would see it as they come in and ask about it. If there are words, they should be “We Are One.” It can also be table-size and I will put it on my dresser by the Himalayan salt lamp – 18” tops.”

I’m excited about this. It supports my goals: “I help Transformational Leaders deepen our relationship with the Unseen World and expand our role in the New Consciousness.”

I hope my friend’s friend makes it for me but even describing it has brought both my vision and my goal into greater focus.

What would you put on your peace pole?

===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEARERS===

Expand Your Role in the Rapidly Evolving Universe

A New Paradigm Of Living

A paradigm is a pattern, a model or our life. It is time we rethink the one we are in.  It is time to encourage a new paradigm of living, leading and creating.

Right now, we are struggling to find a balance between the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine. The Divine Masculine is not happy with the change and the Divine Feminine is coming into her own.  We must learn to encompass the inclusive, loving, creative feminine along with the courage and strength of the masculine. Each of us contain feminine and masculine strengths. We just need to learn to cultivate both aspects in a positive and productive manner.

How do we do that? By becoming more aware of our own actions and choices. Take time to examine and contemplate why you are going in the direction you are going.  Take time to explore new places of service to see if they are aligning with your new awareness and calling.

It is time to step into an entirely new paradigm of living, leading and creating. What will that look like for you?

What Is A Transformational Leader And Are You One?

Transform means to make a thorough change. We must change our thinking, our actions and our expectations.  Part of what we, as Transformational Leaders, must do is expand what we envision as possible.

How do we do that? Can you envision the ice cap no longer melting? Can you envision a world population that enthusiastically embraces a mindful and active consciousness of walking softly on the planet?

We get what we focus on.  Monitor your thoughts and intentions and begin to visualize the human population as aware, thoughtful and actively caring for the planet.

“I help Transformational Leaders deepen our relationship with the Unseen World and expand our role in the New Consciousness” – Cara Lumen

How Do We Deepen Our Relationship With The Unseen World?

We are little specks in the web of life. The Unseen World is vast and everywhere and in all things. And it is “unseen”. So how do we explore it? How do we access it?  How do we use it?

We use our gifts of intuition and trust the nudges and insights we receive.  We learn to interpret and translate them into our life choices. How do you listen to the unseen world?

I get intuitive nudges. The more I pay attention to the nudges, the clearer they become.

I take a Shamanic journey and interpret the metaphors that show up. I trust. I recently closed a meeting with an Affirmative Prayer that the participants said was powerful and gave them goose bumps and I remember nothing except saying I had not done an Affirmative Prayer for a long time. My mind was not involved, the Unseen Words took over and spoke through me. Trust the lessons and insights when that happens.

That part of the meeting was recorded. I will listen to see what I said.

“I help Transformational Leaders deepen our relationship with the Unseen World and expand our role in the New Consciousness.” – Cara Lumen

How Do We Expand Our Role in The New Consciousness?

First of all, I think our roles are changing and are in the process of being defined. When we listen to our intuition and our nudges, they will help us gradually develop a new role for ourselves. Part of our inner work will be to vision to clarify our new role. When we free ourselves from what we know and expect, there is room for expanded insights to appear.

===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===

Raise Your Sights and Your Expectations

Lift Your Gaze

It has been interesting to raise my gaze from my own life and consciousness and experiences to focus on a greater vision and goal. It makes me feel more useful and more valuable as I go exploring to find my new place of service.

Lifting my gaze and raising my focus makes me feel like more of an adventurer, an explorer, a discoverer and trail blazer.  I like that.

What happens when you raise your gaze? What do you see?

Live Above The Fray

It is really empowering to rise about the chaos of American politics and focus on the well-being of our planet. Of course I will keep an eye on politics because I will vote but only for freedom and democracy.

I’m not saying I’m giving up, but I am shifting my gaze.  I don’t see my role as an activist. I see my role as a person with a strong imagination holding High Watch for this point in time.

How do you see your role and how will you fulfill it? How will you rise above the fray?

===OUR EVOLVING FUTURE===

Support and Encouragement for our Unfolding Role in the Future

What Is One Thing I Can Do That Will Help Heal The World?

Follow the light. Be aware of it in every act and every thing.

That means I have to shift my gaze and keep focused on the movement of energy around me. I must be aware of subtle shifts within the world around me.

What do I look for?

Let’s begin with our intuition. We must learn to listen to our inner voice. My inner voice speaks in both murmurs I have to interpret as well as full blown sentences. I always pay attention.

I have begun to establish a specific practice of sending energy to the people on the planet to open their hearts and make their choices for the highest good for all.

I will focus on the energy of oneness.  People, animals, plants, sun, moon, rain, stars…we are to learn to feel our all-encompassing oneness and bring it to the forefront of our thoughts and actions.

Every thought, every choice, every action must be for the greater good, the highest good, the cosmic good. Our choices need to elevate our group consciousness.

I have to walk around this planet not just as an individual person, but as a Light Worker, a Light Leader, a Facilitator of Transformation.  A Light Bearer. An Adventurer. A Way-Shower.

How do you see the role you are stepping into as a Light Leader within our world?

Caring for Gaia

The most important step we can take to care for Gaia – Mother Earth – is to raise our consciousness and monitor our personal footprint.

I no longer go to a grocery store but I have carried cloth bags since the 80’s. If I were living on my own, I would get solar panels for my apartment window.

How do you continue to soften your footprints on the planet?

===CARA’S CORNER===

What Do You Want To Bring Into Your Life?

My good friend and Astrologer, Martha Lacy, told me that Aries has come into play and it is the time of new beginnings. I paused to give some thought to what I want to bring into my life.

Stop reading a moment and write down three things. Mine are wholeness, transcendental awareness and deeper service.

Now, I have no specific plans on how to do that – yet – but the seeds are planted and the journey has begun.

I do have a new focus: “I help Transformational Leaders deepen our relationship with the Unseen World and expand our role in the New Consciousness.”  As yet I have no specifics in mind but that mission statement is raising my sights and my expectations and will ultimately change my direction.

When you change your goals, you are asking for change. Some of it may be uncomfortable, some exciting and some a tad unnerving but change is a good thing – it means we are growing and are deepening our life experience. What is your new vision for change?

I do not know my destination. I only know that I am called. I lift my gaze and take the path less traveled.

How Do You Nurture Yourself?

March 25, 2023 By Cara Lumen

How Do You Nurture Yourself?

Living Our Deeper Song

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
 The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

What does the concept of nurturing mean to you? How do you nurture yourself? How do you nurture others?

Nurturing is more than just providing the essentials, it is about caring for yourself at the deepest levels. Not just your physical care, it includes your mental, emotional and spiritual care. Are you aware of how or if you are nurturing yourself in all those areas? What would you like to change? What would you like to do better?

I like to think of nurturing as cultivation, making sure the right conditions for physical growth are there but also tending to self-awareness, inner growth and spiritual growth. Those are all things we need to do for ourselves.

My most active nurturer is my mind. It takes me exploring and adventuring and it helps me bring new patterns of awareness into my life.  To remain nurturing I must take self-responsibility. I must choose the right foods to eat. I must give my body enough movement to help it keep strong and get stronger. I must establish and maintain a spiritual practice in ways that support me in expanding my awareness as well as my place of service.

List five things you do to nurture yourself. Mine includes using my curiosity and my mind to figure out ideas that call to me and share that with others. I am also being enriched by the people around me who are professional caregivers with a great heart. I nurture myself through my spiritual practice and my body strengthening practices. I am enriched by the love I feel for my mind. I love who I am right now and I love the direction I’m going.

I see that I am nurturing others when I express an interest in who they are, how they reached where they are, and what they are going through.  As I write this, I realize that the reason I’m not drawn to older people is because in most cases there is no drive or ambition. I have a 10-year plan and I am 90. Who knows, maybe it’s a 13-year plan but I do have a flexible, inquisitive plan. The point is that I have a plan and I have a direction I want to go in. I know some of the steps to get me there and I’m always open to change.

To nurture means to encourage growth or develop. How do you nurture yourself?

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

I am open to change, I eagerly explore the new paths I am shown.

DEEPER SONG PROCESS

  • Identify several ways you actively nurture yourself and write them down in the order of their effectiveness for you at this point in time.
  • Identify one area that is under nurtured and then list two things you can do to nurture it. Do that.
  • Repeat as desired.

===INNER WORK===

Deepen Your Inner Awareness

An Altar Is How You View It

I have several spaces in my small space that can be viewed as altars. An altar can be a simple, personal expression of what you want to focus on.

On my desk is a small wooden tray that is an altar. I have an arrangement of bear figurines and pinecones and feathers and a bell. It just takes a small portion of my desk. I have several eagles which to me is about having overview. I call the three small bear figurines Insight, Intuition and Imagination.

On the dresser that also holds the TV I have a Himalayan salt lamp that my on-line friends and I turned into a charging station for anyone who comes in here to give them centering and peace and serenity. Across the top of the dresser is a piece of fabric I chose a long time ago as an altar cloth.

I have another table that has my Quan Yin statue in royal pose along with some plants. She is my reminder of my strong abilities and the power of the Divine Feminine.

All you have to do is set an intention for a space to hold the energy of support, insight, forward motion and gratitude.

Altars can be made of anything. I could look at the wicker basket that holds my gardening equipment as an altar. It has a specific purpose to nurture plants.

The idea of an altar is ancient. It is used to help manifest transformation. It is a place of gratitude and a place to focus our intentions.

You may want to periodically rearrange the altars that you create around you. As you continue to explore, your understanding expands and your intentions may change. Then you may want to re-choose what you put on your altar as well as your intention. Choose pieces that mean forward movement to you.

Used an altar to focus your attention, remind you of an intention, or offer gratitude.

It can be a tray I use for my meals that I can treat as an altar of gratitude and thanksgiving for the nourisher it provides. I could have an altar beside my bed to watch over me in the night and help me release what no longer serves me.

There can be many reasons to have an altar in several places.  Look at the surfaces around you and arrange the objects on it with intention and purpose. You have created an altar.

Let Go Of What You Have Outgrown

This time of year is filled with the promise of possibility and new growth. You are invited to reconnect with your own power to create the life you desire. Now is the time to let go of what you’ve outgrown, take thoughtful action toward your dreams, cultivate confidence, strengthen your physical body, and step into greater leadership within your own life.

===SELF-HEALING===

Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself

Pull Out The Weeds

When we garden, we keep making space for the plants to grow. That means we have to not only pull out invasive plants but we sometimes have to trim or remove some of the flourishing plants in order to make room for another plant to grow.

The same is true in life. Is it possible that you have too many things growing in your garden? What do you need to pull out? What do you need to prune? How are you going to do that?

Sea Vegetables

I am adding sea vegetables to my diet to deepen my nutrition and help heal my body. I sprinkle a little in the miso soup I eat most days. I have begun to experiment with other ways to eat them. I can sprinkle them on salads or potatoes or – I continue to experiment.  I have Dulse (alchaline), Nori (eyes), Spirulina (Immune system), Wakame (blood purifier), and Nutritional Yeast (which tastes like cheese and is great on popcorn and lots more). I have also added in capsule form Irish Moss (edema) and Aloe Vera (boosts immune system). If you are interested in these, do the online research for what you seek to heal.

I’m working diligently to heal myself from the inside even as the medical staff works to heal me on the outside.

What change in your eating habits will bring you greater health?

===OUTER  WORK===

Explore New Potential and Possibilities

Pick And Choose

Are you clear about your priorities? When it comes time to choose between two things, what are the criteria you use to make that choice?

Sometimes we just have to sit down and examine our lives and figure out our priorities. What criteria do you base it on?

Self-care has to come first. It can be easy to put that behind making a living or relationships. But you are the only one who can do that so you better do a good job of it.

Providing for yourself is near the top of the list which includes how you earn your money. If you are not fully satisfied in your work perhaps you need to look for another role to play in the work world.

Relationships are certainly a key element in our lives, whether it is an intimate family relationship or a few valued friendships. Those interactions deeply influence how we feel about ourselves and those we love. You want your relationships to be supportive and encouraging – both ways. Don’t hang out with anyone who pulls you down.

Take time to thoughtfully investigate these areas of your life and make any corrections that will move you forward. Then pick and choose what excites and motivates you.

Periodically Restructure Your Life

It’s very easy to fall into a pattern that we do not take time to examine or question. Our choices are built on habit, convenience or simply a reaction.  When we take time to examine our unconscious choices, we may very well make new ones. I’m going to begin with what I want to add and let other things go to make room for it.

Things I will add:

  • Time to play my bigger skin drum – I like the richness of its tone.
  • Stand and move throughout my day.
  • Do the Qigong forms of self-healing I have learned at least twice a day.
  • Set aside reading time each day for the books that are calling me.
  • Design a ceremony of well-being for the environment and add it to my spiritual practice.
  • Listen to more music.

Things I will do less of:

  • watch news
  • sit

Periodically restructure your life. Examine how you spend your time and make certain it reaps the greatest rewards.

10 Ideas A Day

I got this idea from Chris Brogan who has been my online friend for years.  In his weekly newsletter he mentioned that in his daily morning ritual, he writes down 10 ideas a day. I haven’t tried this but I think it’s a great idea.  I’m writing this in the morning and my ideas are:

  1. Write more about our unfolding role in the world.
  2. Write to help young generations face and deal with the dramatic changes that are unfolding.
  3. Begin to talk to the young people here about their thinking.
  4. Read the Qigong Self-Healing book I have.
  5. Stand up more often during the day and move my body.

Those last two are more like a “To Do” list that an “Idea List”

When I get an idea it’s usually about something to write about and I immediately turn and write about it so I have a first draft. But then I have the luxury of being able to pause to do that at any point in my day.  I just read Chris’s newsletter, and turned and wrote this to figure it out for myself and to share it with you.

You get the idea – it’s your list. What ideas will you put on it each day?

I don’t act on each of the ideas but writing an idea down can lead to another idea. The act of writing opens doors to new ideas to consider and explore.  It is a great opportunity for a free flow of ideas.

Chris did not say good ideas, he just said ideas.  When you let your imagination go, it may take you down some strange paths but you never know when you will hit the jackpot. I’m going to give it a try.

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness

The Power of Journaling

I have begun to journal again and I’m very much enjoying it. I take time at the end of each day to reflect back over the experiences I’ve had, the insights that have been revealed and any new awareness that has presented itself. It is a time for reflection and anchoring of awareness. I don’t necessarily expect to ever re-read it, it is the process of taking time to reflect by recording it that is important. Sometimes it helps me change directions and other times it helps to anchor me in place. Will you make journaling part of your spiritual enrichment?

===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEARERS===

Expand Your Role in the Rapidly Evolving Universe

Life Is Not About Luck

Whatever shows up in our life is because we attracted it to us by our thoughts, our choices,

our actions and where we focus our attention. What are you looking for? What do you expect to happen? What do you think is possible? You can shift the outcome by shifting your attention.

I have to be careful about this because my body is coming up with more physical things for me to fix and I have to make certain that I’m focused on the concepts of wellness and wholeness rather than the opposite.  We get what we believe we deserve and what we believe is possible. And I get to look at both aspects of that. What is manifesting in your life and how do you need to shift your gaze?

===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===

Raise Your Sights and Your Expectations

Healing The Collective

I have never been an activist in a group but if you have and do, this may be a very good time to get active again. One way is to protest and another way is to educate and advocate.

I had only been in touch with one person whose thinking was totally opposite from mine and there was no point in our exchanging ideas because he was listening to and reading only the ideas he agreed with and supported this belief system – just as I am I suppose. Neither of us were interested in changing our minds. Unless you have a curious mind and you’re willing to explore other viewpoints I’m not sure how to encourage a change in thinking.

Make certain you are exploring several versions of the core cause of a situation and identify new solutions and deepen a new reservoir of possibilities

Enjoy Life’s Journey, But Leave No Tracks

Are you walking softly on the planet? Are you conscious of your impact in every aspect of your life? I doubt we are, but it would be good if we were.

We know about walking softly on the planet but what about the effect we have on the lives of others? Some we know, some we don’t. We should become more conscious of our impact on others by our thoughts, our words and our actions. Enjoy life’s journey, but leave no tracks.

===CARA’S CORNER===

How Am I To Lead?

It is time for me to deepen and expand my role. It is time for me to turn my gaze and address our role as light worker leaders on the planet. What does that mean? What does that look like?

It’s time to examine where you are and where you want to go.  How do you plan to make a difference next?

===SING A DEEPER SONG ===

How Do I Make A Difference?

I want to deepen my impact. I want to broaden my reach. I want to make a difference.

I want to deepen my impact. I want to broaden my reach. I want to make a difference. Where do I turn? What do I do?

I want to deepen my impact. I want to broaden my reach. I want to make a difference. Where do I turn? What do I do? The answer lies within. I begin there.

Free Yourself Of Limitations

Living Our Deeper Song

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
 The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

I didn’t like it. It was weaving in concepts and visualizations that are not taught in the original form of Tai Chi and Qigong and yoga.  We are supposed to stick with the original format, right?

Well, after going through the imaginative interpretation that was being given these traditional moves, I realized I had been given the freedom to explore, to experiment and to discover Qigong and Tai Chi are martial arts that are meant to give you the balance and strength and advantage to protect yourself and win a fight. These two teachers that I listened to on the Shift Network Qigong Summit were simply adding imaginative interpretations to the moves. It was much like once having developed the skills of an instrument, you give yourself permission to improvise from your heart and soul.

This may not sit well for those of you who spent years developing your yoga practice or meditation practice or martial arts practice based on centuries old traditions.

I haven’t exactly made peace with it either. But I am giving myself permission to explore. To use my imagination to deepen and enrich my physical plane practice.

I have gone online to find moves for the kidney meridian. The instructions were to reach down and pull up the energy of the Earth into your body. I love that. I love that image. I find that putting an inner imaginative feeling beneath a specific move enriches it.

I just heard a metaphor in the Qigong Summit that really resonated with me – being aware of the female and male energy in the move and the image of being in the flow of the waxing and waning of the Yin-Yang symbol as you make the moves. It is a very fluid metaphor for me.

For instance, Yang energy manifested in the movements that expand, extend, open out, rise up, lengthen, elongate and out, and the Yin energy manifested in the movements of contraction, relaxation, close in, and sink down. I like applying those metaphors as I move. It helps me address the move internally and adds to the experience. It’s just a very strong image for me that will influence the subtleties aspect of the moves I make – beginning from within with an internal feeling. Just having those images beneath the moves adds a fascinating dimension to my experience.

I’m not sure I am explaining this well. I am both learning the correct form and adding the dimension of my imagination to power it from the inside out.

Is there an area of your life that you are following the instructions so exactly that you have not given yourself the freedom to experiment, explore, and improvise?  Perhaps it’s time to go exploring and free yourself of limitations.

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

I examine my life for places of rigidity and turn my imagination free to loosen it up.

DEEPER SONG PROCESS

  • Look at an area of your life you would like to free up and expand. Let’s begin with a physical expression. The image of the tennis serve comes up because it is a multi-faceted move that needs a fluid execution.  What I place in my imagination beneath it will help direct its flow.
  • Experiment with different images and see how it affects the physical plane expression.

===INNER WORK===

Deepen Your Inner Awareness

Fluid Structures

How does one build a structure that is fluid? If it’s fluid how does it ever get completed? How sturdy is a fluid structure? Or is it simply meant to be a framework for adventure.

I like that idea of my life being a framework for adventure. That means that every day I get to look at my life for a fresh perspective.

Is this still how our choice are made? What new nudges have you gotten from the universe? Where do you want to go exploring next? Or do you need to finish the path you are on before moving in a new direction?

Move within to a centered stillness to await the voice of your inner guidance.

The Spring Equinox is Monday, March 20, 2023 4:24 PM

I suggest we each create some sort of an honoring, refocusing ceremony for ourselves. The obvious metaphor is what are you going to plant? It may be a new crop or it maybe more of what you’ve got growing now but look at this as a time to pause and make some conscious choices about how you want your life to unfold over the coming year. Then plant the seeds to make that happen.

===SELF-HEALING===

Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself

Experiment

The occupational therapist said that my edema was associated with my heart and my lungs. I found awesome Qigong exercises for both. And boy, were they effective. There was much coughing on my part with the lung exercises and a literal shortness of breath on the heart moves.  Remember these are simple moves in which you move the Chi energy and I am getting huge physical results.

If you have a physical problem go online and see what meridian it is on, then type in Qigong for that meridian and see what shows up for you.  Experiment and find something that works for you and you’re willing to do.

Talk To Your Body And Listen Well

My body is going through healing process that is a little on the dramatic side. What I get to do is listen really well and get very creative about how I answer what I hear.

Do you listen to your body’s needs when it asks for something you’re not supplying. Or something it needs less of than what you are asking of it.

When you get involved in life, it’s hard to answer your body’s call for a nap in the middle of the day. Getting in an evening 20-minute meditation would help me. I need to get more creative and I need to get more open to different approaches to meet the physical implementation that is being requested. Sometimes it’s as simple as a pause for some deep breaths or a moment to stop whatever forward motion you’re doing mentally.

How well do you listen to your body’s need and how creative are you in answering it?

The Power of a Jacuzzi

I’ve been in hot tubs a handful of times in my life but I now have access to a Jacuzzi here in Evergreen and it is now my new favorite thing to do. As I read about what it does for you, I see it will help my arthritis, it’s going to help this situation I have with my legs, and it is an incredibly nurturing experience.

I was offered one my first week here, but it turned out the tub was broken and I hadn’t thought to ask about it since. I was offered one, took it and is now my new favorite thing. What new step can you take to add a special treat your life? Do that.

===OUTER  WORK===

Explore New Potential and Possibilities

Where Is Your Passion Leading You?

And more importantly is your passion changing?

I can identify a great passion for learning and turning to share what I learned but the focus of that inquiry continues to change. That requires me to be flexible and inquisitive.  I wish I could say that I pay attention to the needs of others but I don’t. My passion is so strong that I simply follow where it takes me and explore what I find and then turn and share what I learned.

Be aware of what passionately shows up that you need to explore. See if that direction holds merit for you. Explore a little. Try out some possible paths. See what others are doing and adapt what calls to you. Most of all, let your passion guide you into a new adventure often.

Stop Over-Thinking

I spent several hours trying to solve a problem that actually did not exist anywhere but in my mind. I found lots of different solutions even though none of them would be necessary. But I should have not put any time and effort into overthinking the situation.

I’m not sure how you extricate yourself from that kind of rabbit hole. My plan got pretty detailed and it turns out it wasn’t necessary at all.  I have no idea what happened to “Go with the flow.”

Do you let your mind get carried away? Keep you awake? Do you picture worst case scenarios and try to figure out ways to get out of them? I think we have to learn to be more trusting that the universe will not give us more than we can handle. Trust the universe to give you the lessons that you need and the opportunities that will open new pathways for growth.

Sometimes the lesson is about how much you do not want to take that particular path. That was the reason for the lesson – for you to know that choice was not appropriate to you.

Learn to have more conversations with your inner voice. It is actually very wise.

===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===

Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness

Sing And Drum

I’m going to add something new to my spiritual practice. It came from listening to a presenter on a Shift Network Qigong summit who sang and drummed. I don’t know what language he used and it doesn’t make any difference because he set an intention and the experience was very profound – just by singing and later adding the drum.

I like the idea of singing tones rather than words that I can drape in my intention. But I am going to use my voice along with my drum and see what kind of experience I can create. I think I’ll start by using vowel sounds rather than words and simply set an intention for the experience and see what happens. I have been using my drum and singing songs that I composed to the directions but I think I will let it slowly evolve and see what shows up. I will go exploring and see where it takes me as an introspective experience.  What unusual feature will you add to your spiritual practice?

===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEARERS===

Expand Your Role in the Rapidly Evolving Universe

Make Space For New Growth

In gardening we make room for new growth by pruning. We cut back what has gotten too unruly in order to encourage the less vigorous plants to reach their potential.

What does that mean in your life?  It means it is very easy to let one facet of our life take up too much room. It sort of creeps up and crowds out some of our favorite things because we’re giving too much time and energy to one facet of our life.

Has that happened to you? Can you identify a part of your life that needs to be scaled back – pruned if you will. And how will you do that?

Your job is probably the biggest offender and may be hardest to prune. I spend a huge amount of time at my computer because I really like to think and learn and write. But I need to make time for more physical movement. I will identify several times during my day to do my Qigong and go for a walk or any other form of movement that I choose to do. I should turn and stand and look out the window at nature to change my rhythm and address the needs of my body to shift my attention.

What will you prune from your life in order to make room for new growth?

===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===

Raise Your Sights and Your Expectations

The Calling

I don’t know whether it’s the generation or the profession but as I ask the healthcare workers in this long-term facility how they got on this path, their stories share they knew they wanted to help people. Since these are the only younger people that I am around, I have no idea if other younger people are being called into a specific profession so strongly.

Some of the staff are nurses of course, but a Med-Aide’s work is helping people with their daily lives. That means bathing and dressing and eating and other bodily functions. Some of the people here have dementia. And I have had Med-Aides help me hang my stained glass in my window and also put my sea vegetables in the new spice containers, so the work can vary.

A newly licensed nurse I talked to wants to go work in labor and delivery. Another person knew she was going to become an OB/GYN surgeon. Another wants to work with handicapped children. Another really likes hanging out with older people. Of course the underlying motivation is that they want to help others.

In my recent trip to the hip surgeon which requires a Med-Aide to accompany me while I get to ride in a wheelchair in the back of the big van, I was escorted by the same person who took me on my first trip. And I remember asking her then what the qualifications were for doing this job. And she said, “You have to be a really kind person.” And they all are. How lovely, to know your own calling and have it beckon so deeply.

Explore and Interpret the Guidance and Messages of the Divine Feminine

The Fight

What is unfolding in the United States is very scary. There is a portion of the population that wants to disavow huge other parts of the population – everyone who is not white – and they want to get rid of all women by preventing them from having fundamental healthcare.

One way to look at it is that the Divine Masculine is fighting to keep the control it has had for centuries.

What has the Divine Masculine shown us over the centuries? Domination and subjugation. In my cynicism I might say that’s about it. I’m a woman – a woman who has worked to get out from under male domination for a good portion of her life. And we have not achieved that yet.

Even as we fight for our freedom, we must bring forth the feminine traits of inclusiveness and caring. I’m not sure how to do that. It’s a tricky balancing act.

As mothers we can teach our sons about equality and inclusiveness and our daughters about knowing their true value and cultivating their individual path. As wives we can teach our husbands about equal partnership. As daughters we teach our parents how to embrace the new version of the role. As coworkers we can stand up for our rights without running roughshod over our male counterparts. As bosses and leaders, we teach everyone in our lives about inclusiveness.

How do you do that and where do you begin?

Take Charge Of Your Own Health

I’m going to start learning and doing Qigong exercises for specific organs to assist in my own health. I have found videos for the Heart Meridian, Lung Meridian and Kidney Meridian as starters. These seem to be the meridians that are affecting my current physical imbalances.

Illness is about imbalanced energy and energy moves through meridians that flow throughout our body. What more direct way to self-heal than to strengthen the very channels that carry the energy through our body. What meridian will you start working on today?
