World in Hands

Group energy is very powerful. It can make sweeping changes in the world. How do you do that? How do you participate in the evolution of our planet sitting in your home by yourself? You do that by joining your energy with others who are also focusing their energy on the well-being of our planet.

Create a Tree Messenger

Trees cover the planet. They can send our intentions on the wind, through their roots, by their vibration. What wonderful messengers they make! I love the idea that when I talk to my tree messenger, who resides outside my window, she will willingly pass that energy along to other trees all over the world and she adds the power of her own energy to my message. We are already a group energy of two.

I outline a ceremony to enlist your own tree messenger in “How to Activate a Tree Messenger to Send Your Healing Energy Out Into The World”

In “How to Use our Interconnection to Heal the World”, we began to act as if we are the whole planetary system, because we are.

Now we’ll find places and causes to focus our energy.

What calls to you?

When I first began this planetary healing work, I was drawn immediately to the oceans. It began with the picture of polar bears having to swim for miles to find ice to land on because the ice is melting. Then I saw that people are also losing their island homes as the ocean rises and floods the land. Climate change is real and there are ways we can help to slow it down.

We’re a society of consumers with little regard to our ecological responsibility. We’re a world of diversity, with little empathy toward our differences. We see our world filled with violence, disregard for human life, and the ignoring of global warming.

Choose a concern that resonates with you and find people and organizations that are doing work that feels aligned with the outcome you support. Find the cause that calls to you, that touches your heart, and become an “armchair activist”.

How do you serve?

I’ve only been part of a physical demonstration a few times in my life. Although I can’t remember the cause, I clearly remember standing on a street corner waving a sign at passing cars. And when “Hands Across America” took place in May 1986, I was one of thousands who walked silently to the West Side Highway in New York City and linked hands with strangers who were united in one purpose — to feel our connection across our country. I was standing on one coast and could feel the group energy of people all across the country holding the same intention of connection and unity. Over 6 million people took part in that event.

Think of a time you were involved in a collective agreement, a group purpose. Remember the power of the energy of the group? That’s what we can create when we become our own pocket of peace for planetary wellness.

You can pray. You can meditate. You can give money to those doing work you admire. You can send energy through your Tree Messenger.  You can join Gaia Field www.gaiafield.net and take part in their daily world-wide three-minute meditations. You can vision. You can offer peace, empathy, joy, wellness, consciousness of connection or whatever you feel will help balance the energy in the place or situation that calls to you.

Become aware of what is going on

Once I began to think about the power of my personal energy focused on a specific cause, especially when joined with others, I became more aware of where I was needed. I noticed articles, and newscasts that would have passed me by before I became an armchair activist.

I gave money to a few causes that I resonated with, and because I showed my interest I now receive their newsletters, which educate me even more on the causes that call to me.

Activism is about healing and balance.

Activism is fueled by awareness

There are as many different opinions are there are people. Conflict comes when there’s no room to understand or accept or even tolerate any viewpoint other than you own.

Awareness is a huge focus for any active healing. We must examine our own beliefs to see whether they are still true or simply echoes of the past. People are unconsciously damaging our planet. Education and information help raise awareness.

Become aware of the causes and situations that are to be the focus of your armchair activism.

A clear focus encourages change

We need to educate ourselves and others about the needs of our planet. For instance, it never occurred to me that the builders of wind farms need to be aware of the migratory patterns of birds. But The Nature Conservancy did.  Each cause is connected to another in the web of life. We must be aware of the impact each action has.

We need to question our beliefs. What do we believe that’s causing us fear or apprehension around diversity? What don’t we understand about the causes of global warming? Have we done our homework? Have we read opposing viewpoints? Have we made informed decisions? Are we flexible and open to change as life changes?

Is our approach for the highest good for all? When we begin to look past our own survival, our own personal well-being, we are capable of making choices for the good of the whole. There are compromises that must be made to uncover and choose action steps that will heal the whole.

To focus your energy on a particular cause, you must primarily focus on qualities and actions that allow change.

Try to understand an opposing viewpoint. Look for compromise for the highest good. Listen to what’s not being said, which is an unspoken fear.

Release your own fear of what you don’t understand. Do your homework. Increase your empathy and look through the eyes of the other person.

Educate those around you. Help people recycle, buy organically, whatever calls to you. Share your concerns and then let others make their own choices.

Educate yourself. Study the activism already in place. Choose the causes that resonate with your concerns.
Join with others online

Gaiafield  sponsors group meditations and courses. The Shift Network is filled with webinars and group projects for peace.

Find online groups that support your place of activism and participate.

Create your own healing ceremony

Do what you are called to do. Activate a tree messenger,  join one of the groups that focus on peace every day, vision, meditate, change your thinking, change yourself. Place an item in view that reminds you to send positive thoughts toward the cause you want to help heal and balance so that you send your healing energy out several times a day. When something unbalanced is mentioned on the news, find a gesture of healing that you use like putting you hand to your heart to send healing energy. Be creative. Be imaginative.

Activate your place in the web of life

Whatever you choose to do, however you choose to do it, be active. Be conscious. Choose a cause or two and focus your healing, balancing energy toward it, knowing that there are many others, all over the world, with the same concerns and the same intentions who are also adding their focused healing energy every day.

I have a loop of rope on my desk that reminds me that I’m an integral part of the web of life with a very strong responsibility to stay aware, to send my energy though that web of life to shore up the weak places and to mend the holes. We are all one energy. We are all a thread in the web of life.

How are you doing your part? How will you become an armchair activist?

How to Activate a Tree Messenger to Send Your Healing Energy Out Into The World

October 25, 2016 By Cara Lumen

Birch tree

The world needs our help. The people, the animals, the plants, the oceans, the land, the environment, the interactions, the diversity, all need to be healed. We can assist in this balancing process by personally sending messages of peace and empathy and highest good wherever and whenever we’re called to do so.

When we gather together, our group energy multiplies our intention. I invite you to join with me to turn trees into messengers of our affirmative intentions. Trees can talk to other trees as the wind moves through their leaves. Trees can communicate with each other through the shared sunlight and their roots that reach deep into the earth. Trees are vital members of the web of life.

When we ask our tree messenger to send out our blessing, our message of peace, balance and harmony, it acts as a transformer to broadcast the intention of our focused energy to trees all over the world, who in turn hold that healing energy out to the people who live with them.

It begins with one tree. Your tree. A tree that you see often, that you’re drawn to.

In this first process, we’ll ask our tree if she/he will become our messenger and send our message to trees all around the globe, who, in turn, heal the people and situations around them. Our tree becomes our antenna for the messages of healing and balance we send every day.

As more and more people activate a tree messenger, our group energy field will expand. Will you join us?

Here’s how to activate your tree messenger.

The Tree Messenger Activation

Purpose: To connect to the web of life, allowing the presence of a tree to become a focused transporter of our group energy from tree to tree all over the world and thus to the people around them.

Choose a tree as your messenger, one you see often. If possible, allow the tree to be north of you in the direction of Spirit, the creative originating mystery.

Select a purpose. Why, where, and to what cause are you sending energy? And what thoughts do you want to send?

This first time, we’re asking our tree to invite trees all over the world to join in our desire to help heal our planet as placeholders and messengers for our collective field. In subsequent transmissions, your purpose can be to heal and balance anything you choose.

Offer your tree a gift or simply a verbal offering of gratitude for its presence and power and for the symbolism it’s about to take on.

Connect physically with the tree. Stand before the tree you’ve chosen and mirror its standing presence.

Connect with the core of the earth. Feel how deeply your tree connects with the center of the earth; feel the roots of the tree draw energy from deep within.

Connect with the cosmos. Feel the sunlight or the starlight pouring through the leaves of the tree and feel your connection with the universe.

Connect with your tree. Put your left hand (receiving) on the trunk of your chosen tree and the right hand (giving) on your heart and feel the life force flowing up and down within the tree. Allow the energy of the tree to enter your body.

Become aware of the group field that surrounds the tree through the soil that sustains it and the elements of the air and sun that encourage growth and offer sustenance. Become one with the power and presence of the tree.

Close your eyes and feel you and the tree surrounded in a light mist. Become one with the tree and the mist. As you merge your energy with the tree, you become surrounded by a membrane of light that holds you blended with the energy of the tree.

Ask the tree if she/he is willing to be your messenger to the world, to connect you with the energy of trees all over the world so they become a messenger and placeholders for your positive intentions.

State your intention. This first time we’re asking our tree to ask all the trees in the world to become place holders for our work, for our messages of hope and healing. We’re seeking agreement from the trees to become our messengers.

On subsequent occasions, you can ask your tree to send your personal message of empathy or peace or awareness of our inner connection in the web of life out into the world.

Listen for the tree’s consent. Notice her/his willingness to help bring balance to nature and the world.

Extend your energy field that’s now combined with the energy of the tree to trees all over the world and to other people using trees as their messengers of light.

Feel the group energy build. Know that others are gradually and organically taking up this call and that the group energy is expanding to countries all over the world. Picture the planet covered with people connecting with their own tree messengers to send healing energy to our planet. See us all surrounded by light.

Feel our reach extend. Feel the energy of our group connecting with tree messengers all over the world. Feel our energy moving into the trees in forests, mountains, cities and countryside. All of these trees are opening to become antennae and transmitters of our message of balance and oneness. Be with that energy and fill yourself with its power.

When you’re ready, gradually return your awareness to where you stand and to the pulsing of the tree under your palm.

Thank the tree. “Thank you for expanding my connection with the web of life. Together we’re planting seeds of awareness for the highest good of all.” Put your palms together, bow to the tree and say Namaste (pronounced Nah-mah-stay, which means “the light within me honors the light within you”).

Ask the tree for a small gift that will serve as your transmitter to the tree. It could be a leaf, a piece of bark, a twig. Take your gift from the tree and return home.

Put your gift transmitter in a special place. The gift from the tree has now become a transmitter from you to the tree who is now your messenger to the world.

Send regular messages of peace and balance. Any time you want to send a message to the whole world, you can hold the tree’s gift, or feel the tree’s presence, or go stand before the tree itself and create your own ceremony of connecting with the tree to send your message of love and light.

Will you activate a tree messenger?

It’s empowering to feel that we can easily send our healing, support and peace-filled energy all over the world simply by focusing on our tree messenger. If you keep the gift the tree gave you in your special sacred pace, it’s easy to pick it up and send your blessing to whatever need you see or feel in the world.

Feeling that you have the ability to send positive energy to any place in the world makes you more aware of the places where you’re needed. Now you have a new way to participate.

My tree messenger is activated. Her name is Grace. We talk many times throughout the day. She can be seen from my window, and she casts moving shadows on my walls as the sun moves along. Her gift was a twig that had fallen on the ground. I hold it in my hand when I consciously focus my energy on the well-being of the planet. The twig is a mini-antenna from me to her.

Sending a message for my tree messenger to deliver is now a daily part of my life. My tree is ready. Will you ask your tree to become part of her global purpose — the peace and well-being of our planet earth?

If you activate a tree, will you please let me know at cara@passionatelyonpurpose.com, and give me descriptions of any experience you had while doing this. Namaste.

The 7 -7 Vibrational Healing Drumming Day

March 30, 2019 By Cara Lumen

The 7 -7 Vibrational Healing Drumming Day

On the 7th of every month, wherever you are on the planet, you are invited to create a wholing vibration for seven minutes at any time in your day with the intention of balancing our planet. It can be drumming, toning, chanting, using any form of vibration that calls to you.

We are vibration and vibration can heal and whole.  When we raise our own personal vibration, it radiates out to enhance the vibration of others. The idea came when I learned to drum to heal myself in a class with drummers in over 30 countries.  It felt awesome to think of all of us drumming for wholeness on one particular day.

As participants in the collective power of this world-wide vibrational energy, we can focus our drumming on very specific intentions – a population in crisis, a species of animals in danger, an environmental unbalance. However we frame our own intention for healing will be magnified by the collective vibrations sent out in that 24 hours in which it is possible that someone somewhere in the world is drumming for wholeness. As more people begin to drum, we will certainly create a ripple that will be felt and heard!

Drum for healing

Sound healing is powerful.  Whether it is a drum, a flute, a chime, a bell, two stick struck tougher or your voice, vibration is a powerful balancer.  Feeling and hearing a sound attunes our whole body and radiates out into our world.

The ripple effect

Will you join us? As more and more people choose to drum to the planet for 7 minutes on the 7th day of each month, it is possible that there will be drumming somewhere on the planet for 24 hours on that day.  What a powerful effect that will have on our world consciousness!

Drum with intention

You are to drum with the intention to heal.  The focus will be an individual choice.  You might drum to one of the elements – more water, less water –  your choice will determine the sound and rhythm and perhaps even your drum choice.  Let the focus of your intention to send wholing vibration suggest the rhythm.  The one uniting element in the 7-7 Vibrational Healing Drumming Day is drumming with the intention to raise the collective vibrational consciousness of the planet.

Experiment with sound

As I began to work with my drums for personal healing, I found a rhythm that resonated to me and I began to repeat it.  I played it with my mallet. I played with my hands.  I held the drum so the back faced my heart and let the vibration move deep into my body.  I played it with the sounds of the different elements. I played on the rim. I played in the center.  I used fingers and palms and the edges of my hand.   My body began humming with healing vibration.

All sound creates vibration

This is a vibrational healing. You can use chimes and Tibetan Healing Bowls and tuning forks and rattles –  whatever sound instrument calls to you, including your voice.  You can sing and chant or tone.  The focus is that for seven minutes on the seventh day of the month you will send a vibration of wholeness that will join with the vibration of others with the same intention in order to create a thick layer of an intentional wholing vibration that will raise the vibration of all of us – those participating and those unaware of the vibration.

7 minutes on the 7th Day to raise the collective consciousness of our world

Notice what changes.  In you.  In the world around you  You will feel serene, connected, empowered, and know that you are an important contributor to the  healing our world.

7 minutes on the 7th of the month to raise the vibration of our planet.

Will join us?

Deeper Song Affirmation

I lovingly send a healing vibration out into our planet.

Deeper Song Process

  • Mark your calendar for the 7th of the month.
  • If you have a drum begin to experiment with it to find a healing rhythm that resonates with you.
  • If you don’t have a drum, experiment with sound, a spoon and a pan, a pencil against a desk, your hands clapping on your knees.  Use your voice or other sound instruments that call to you. Find how you want to participate and begin to experiment with rhythms until you find a pattern that resonates with you.
  • Begin to practice with your healing rhythm.  If it is a Buffalo or frame drum, hold it so the back vibrates against your body.  If it is a bell or a chime, move it around your body. However you hold and play your chosen instrument, notice the vibration it offers as well as the sound.
  • Be aware of what changes take place in your body.
  • Become aware of what changes in the world around you.
  • On the 7th day of each month, create a positive vibration for 7 minutes with the intention to raise the vibrational consciousness of our planet.
  • Forward the link to this post to any friends who might want to be a part of this international vibrational healing.

I’d love to hear how this evolves for you on my FaceBook Page.

How About a Woman’s Political Party? The Party of Common Ground!

January 23, 2017 By Cara Lumen

woman and flag

What would a Woman’s Political Party look like? It would focus on nurturing. It would focus on empathy and inclusion. It would focus on peaceful co-existing and cooperation. What would a world look like in which there were conversations rather than wars in order to negotiate a peaceful solution? What if there were no egos struggling for power. What if?

I’d vote for that.

It’s not about the peace-seeking flower power of the 60’s. It’s not about the woman’s liberation movement of the 60’s and 70’s. It’s about the women we have become. The intelligent, wise, inclusive, empathetic feminine nature that cares for others, that safeguards others, that nurtures and supports.

But there’s another side to the feminine; there’s the Rainbow feminine, the one who is creative and pro-active, who leads and creates and motivates and inspires and, again, is inclusive.

What if our women took over our government? Became our duly elected leaders? What would that world look like? No Republicans and Democrats, only a party of wholeness, of statesmanship, of inclusion. There would not be two sides, we would seek to stand on common ground.

It’s exciting to consider.

The Party of Common Ground

What would it look like if there were no longer different sides of the aisle? What if a group of elected people got together and simply said, who is drawn to caring for the environment — go form a committee and figure out a solution and present it to us all. We will decide on action by building on our common ground.

What if the people who cared about the well-being of children gathered together to figure out common ground and common steps? What if we had a collection of women government officials who actually listened — not to the political “sides,” but to the problem and searched for a common solution?

What if the sole purpose of the elected representatives was to find common ground and then build from there? Of course that would mean compromise, but it would also mean collective action.

It would mean listening with our heart to the needs of the other person.

It would mean being flexible and open-minded.

It would mean being willing to change.

It would mean working with our intelligence to find a creative, innovative solution that addresses the constant changes on our planet home.

It would mean making space in our hearts for the phenomenal and beautiful diversity that is our nation.

It would mean having to listen, accept our differences, and work for the highest good of all.

Women have the power to elect our leaders

We are a majority here. But we would have to vote as one.

It doesn’t mean that men would not participate, they would, but the main responsibility rests with each of us, with our participation in our local government and our state governments and our federal government. This Party of Common Ground can be a unifier, an eraser of the divides. If we see ourselves as one party, we can work within that party for common ground, for universally positive answers.

What if the Women’s Party of Common Ground was world wide?

What if we collectively created a model of alignment that could be extended to the rest of the world? What if an international group of women came together and found common causes and agreement and took those ideas back to their country. This becomes a World Party. A Planetary Party.

Wow!

We have to move from “me” to “we.”

Where to start — our common concerns

Equality. Respect. Inclusion. Safety. Being able to support ourselves. Worker’s rights, reproductive rights, environmental justice, immigrant rights, sexual preference rights and ending violence against women. Safety for our children. Education for our children. Jobs and training for people of all skill levels and ages. It’s a diverse group of people with diverse needs. It’s a tall order. We must find the common ground and begin there.

What to include — our differences

When we look at an opposite view as an opportunity to learn, it changes how we see it. And, most importantly, in the Party of Common Ground we must agree to disagree and find the compromises necessary to move forward.

We MUST educate ourselves. We MUST examine our beliefs and question them. We MUST understand the other person’s point of view. We must be flexible. And we must be willing to CHANGE. This is not about “my way”, it’s about “our way.”

We must now take responsibility and lead.

How do we start a global political party that has begun with the world-wide marches?

The Move From Inner to Outer Work

December 22, 2016 By Cara Lumen

alone in natuer

Inner work is vital. The more self-aware we become, the more aligned are our choices. But there comes a time when we have to move from the inner work into the outer work. And you get a huge feeling of joy and expansion when you make that shift.

The inner work lays the foundation

My inner work becomes deeper and more profound. It helps me make decisions. My inner work helped me understand that I needed a new tribe. So I created one.

My inner works lets me explore a compelling concept and find new ways to apply it to my life.

Listening to my inner voice allows me to understand my gifts, my passion, my needs and my desires.

My inner voice helps me find my next direction and even discern the steps I should take.

As I continue to listen to my voice within, I understand and accept myself more.

The shift from inner to outer work

A series of choices and events helped me shift from inner focus to outer action. It took the form of two online courses. My first objective was to connect more deeply with the earth so I took a course on Universal Shamanism.

At the same time the idea of group energy work showed up in Subtle Group Energy with David Nichol.

The need to be in service

I have been in service through my posts, books and podcasts, but when I discovered the work of Subtle Activism at the Gaiafield project, my life took on more meaning and purpose. I felt as if I was moving from an ever-deepening self-exploration into an upward slope that led to meaningful world service. It was a welcome and profound shift.

We can all help

Throughout the ages, the indigenous people have used ceremony and ritual and deep inner focus to balance and align their communities. When you create a group that meets to focus its group energy on a particular project or situation, there’s an opportunity to focus your powerful inner energy on the well-being of our planet through this energy from people all over the world. Your group work could focus on the environment, it could focus on racial tension, it could focus on world tension. Right now the feminine is emerging into a 500-year dominance and the masculine energy is putting up a fuss. We women are needed to hold steady during this tumultuous transition.

Inner and Outer Activism

I’m too old to walk the streets in protest marches or do some of the more physical forms of activism, but David says there’s also a need for a group of people to hold the energy that will support those who can. That means that whatever age or physical condition you’re in, you can play an important part in changing the world.

Where do you start

Begin with Gaiafield  and join in their daily meditations. Join The Shift Network and see what free webinars call to you there.

We need both inner and outer work. It feels good to find a way to be of deeper service to our world.
