New Consciousness – New State of Being

May 22, 2020 By Cara Lumen

New Consciousness – New State of Being

A New Consciousness Exploration

There is change. There is turmoil in change.  There is discovery in change.  There is re-evaluation n change.  There is choice in change.  There is patience involved with change.

Most of all, change allows us to reach a new state of consciousness, a new state of being.  And that is what many of us want.

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world,” is a quote attributed to Mahatma Gandhi.

In looking it up I found that the closest verifiable remark we have from Gandhi is this:

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. … We need not wait to see what others do.”

Change is our personal responsibility

It is our responsibility to change ourselves in order to change our world. In order to manifest a new state of consciousness, we have to manifest change within ourselves, here in our body suit expression. That means we have to examine and question our beliefs, our attitudes, our understanding, and our actions.

We are developing a New State of Consciousness

What does“a new site of consciousness” mean to you? That’s what some of us are building. How do we do that?  Who is doing that?  How do we find and recognize each other?  And most of all, what will the new state of consensus look like?  And feel like?

My personal primary goal is to continue to raise my vibration –  Whatever the looks like and feels like and however I learn to do that. So I study and go where I am led. Then I turn and share with others what I discover.

There are others on this same path. We may call ourselves transformational thinkers, or light-workers or Transcendent Leaders,  but there are many of us and we do find each other.

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.”

As I raise my vibration it is going to resonate with others who are raising their vibration and we may even support each other in our journey.

Raise your vibration and see how your life changes.

We are developing a new State of Being

As I work on raising my vibration, on chaining myself,  I have a different effect on the world around me.  I walk the earth with a more conscious footstep. I interact with others with a deeper awareness of our core connection. I recognize our similarities.

And that changes the response of the world around me.

“As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him.”

We are developing an expanded vibration

Centered, aware, with  an ever-rising vibration –  that’s how I want to walk the earth now.  I want to be more mindful of nature, my place in nature, the gifts of nature, my interactions with nature, my oneness with the vibration of all.

The New Consciousness, the new state of Being is already here.

When I raise my gaze, I see the new path, the new horizon.  I make a choice and move forward.

When I approach someone in a high vibration I move within so we are talking heart to heart.  When I work, I put my whole self into what I am doing.  Gibran says, “Work is love made viable.”  I make my love more visible.

How do we find this new community?

Look at what others are doing and see if it challenges you to raise your vibration.  Learn from others who are also exploring a similar path and choose what calls to you.  Offer to share what you know with others.  Let our raised vibrations bring us together.

Cultivating a New State of Consciousness will create a New State of Being

How are you going to begin? How are you doing to continue?

Deeper Song Affirmation

I begin now to create a new state of consciousness and  new state of being by changing myself.

A Deeper Song Process

  • Begin to look for others who are consciously raising their vibration, their way of being. Connect with them.
  • How will you develop a new state of Consciousness?  What do you need to release? What do you need to embrace?
  • Notice how the New State of Confines affects our New State of Being.
  • Keep exploring and expanding – and sharing.

Raise Your Sails

July 10, 2019 By Cara Lumen

Raise Your Sails
An Inner-World Exploration

We are sailing along on the sea of life.  Sometimes we have a destination.  Sometimes we’re simply flowing and allowing ourselves to be taken wherever the current takes us.  And when the winds are calm, we may even paddle a bit. But when we raise our sails, when we catch the wind, we determine the speed and direction of our journey.

We have only to raise our sails.

You set your direction through intention

Sometimes we steer.  Sometimes we drift.  But even when you are casually drifting, it is good to have a general direction to move in.

Your intention will also determine your speed – it tells you how many sails to raise. How full you let them out.  It may be a lazy slow-moving day or it may be an all-out race.  Your intention will determine your actions.

Use a mudra as your compass

There are many ways to center yourself before setting sail. A mudra hand position is an easy one.  Experiment and find the ones that call to you.

One of my favorites is the Buddhist Walking Meditation mudra – simply close your fingers around your thumb.  Do this with each hand. Notice how your energy shifts. It’s amazing what a single hand gesture will do to focus your mind and your intention.

Fill up your sails and center your compass with your breath

Use your breath to begin this inward journey.  A mindful breath in, a releasing breath out.  Create a steady rhythm that keeps you moving increasingly inward.

Merge with the “I AM”

Lose yourself in the experience of gradually sailing inward.  Allow your body suit to disappear.  Allow your awareness to disappear.  Simply be the vibrational energy that you are.  That is your destination – to be aware of simply being One.

Heal with colors

On this inward journey that you take with your mind, you can use colors to balance your body suit and your earth-bound world. Fill yourself with whatever color comes to you and simply feel it, experience it.  Don’t interpret.  Let the color move through your body to release and rearrange and heal any part that calls to it.  Let it tidy up. Let it clean and clear things out. Perhaps you even change colors.

Rather than see and feel the light energy coming through your crown, let it come from within you as a sphere, and simply change colors at your core.  Let it radiate out.  If there are blockages or stuck places, they release themselves and leave the circle of light that you are.

Expand your vibration

On each slow exhale, feel your sails unfold and expand and begin to pull you forward. You are a golden sailboat, shining in the sunlight, sailing smoothly atop the waves.  It is a happy day, a positive day, a fulfilling day. Fill your sails and feel yourself fly over the surface.

Allow the experience of being limited to your body suit to disappear

Become one with the wind.  Become one with the sun.  Become one with the water.  Disappear your body and then finally disappear even the pinpoint of you as your mind.

Now that you are still, expand your vibration

Feel yourself as a circle of light. Feel the energy radiate out, first in inches, then feet, then yards and then miles until you are radiating out energy that covers the planet, energy that moves to the center of the earth and reaches out into unknown galaxies. You are radiating as Everything-That-Is, as The One All, the Everything.

Hold the expanded energy that is All-There-Is in your heart and feel its power expand into an all-encompassing vibration.

Lift your sails

You are safe, you are expanding, you are raising your vibration. Raise your sails and fly across the surface of life. Experience and accept.   Accept the serenity. Accept the healing.  Accept the guidance.

There is trust involved in sailing

When you set sail, you have to trust that the wind will be there, to trust that you know how to set the sails.

A slight shift in the sails, in their tension, will slow you down or speed you up or change your course.  Adjust your sails to keep you on course.

What to do if there’s a storm

When the ride gets bumpy, take down your sails and ride the storm out.  Withdraw into yourself.  Trust yourself.  Heal yourself. And wait.  The sun will come out again.  It will soon be a great day for sailing.

Awareness + choice = change

When you are ready to set sail again, become aware of your desired destination, set your intention and you will head in the direction of your choice.

Hold the feeling of Oneness within your heart

There is only one All-that-Is. There is only one Emptiness-That-Holds-Everything.  There is only one Cosmic Soup. Once you have released your awareness of your body suit and have moved into the sacred space within, allow yourself to sink into the feeling.  Deepen that feeling.  Remember that feeling so you can return to it immediately on a single mindful breath.

You are One.  We are One.  All is One.

Deeper Song Affirmation

I raise my sails and journey inward.

Do You Believe In Yourself?

December 18, 2018 By Cara Lumen

Do You Believe In Yourself?
An Inner World Exploration

I made a shamanic journey into my inner world to find out why I kept starting so many new things but found myself dragging my feet when it came to completing them.  I love the discovery part, but not the technical steps.

What I found surprised me

I found a limiting belief that was holding me back. A lot. I simply did not believe my work had enough value to make it important to get out the door.

Bummer.

A big one!!

A very, very large limiting belief.

How do I get rid of that?

Call on the helpers in the inner realms

My spirit guides helped me realize how far-reaching my work is, even though I may not know of a particular change it makes in someone’s life.  Knowing I had that limiting belief was a huge discovery and one that I’ll continue to consciously release every day.  It feels like it may take some constant attention in order to pull that weed out of my inner garden. But I have begun. And I will now tend my garden diligently.

However, I still wanted support in my day, some form of discipline to make me do this less creative stuff that is a necessary part of sharing my work. It’s not exactly like clearing your paint brushes so you can paint again tomorrow but it is about taking another step toward completing the canvas.

I got a donkey

I got a spirit guide in the form of a donkey. Remember, spirit guides are metaphors in our imagination, and we are to interpret them.  I got a sure-footed, one-foot-in-front-of-the-other donkey I called Dolly.

So Dolly’s plan is to nudge me from behind to take a certain number of steps on the “Completion” trail every day.  She is to keep me from roaring off to explore a new trail so often but to keep me on the path I’m on, and urge me to take time to leave the guideposts, the markers I am to leave for others.

Every day I’m to walk part of the path of completion.  On some project. Any project.

So I’m going to create “Dolly time” each day and do 45 to 60 minutes of back-end work that helps me get a project closer toward moving it out the door.

With Dolly’s help. And support.  And nudges.  She is a strong example of putting one foot in front of the other. Persistent.  Determined.  Steady progress.

I’m to broadcast

In a journey for my “soul purpose”, I understood that I was to broadcast my light from the top of a high mountain.  I’m to do that, each day – prepare another facet of my message, my insights, my explorations, and with Dolly’s help, push them or pull them closer to being visible in the world.

My journey helped me accept my value

I gained two important insights from this journey.  I have to work on the limiting belief that my work is only semi-important in the world.  And I have to work every day to create the maps and guideposts I leave for others along this path I explore. Which means completing my projects and sending them on their way.

I can do that. Especially now that I have Dolly the Donkey nudging me to complete my work.

How are the spirit guides helping you complete your work?

When Do You Know You are Ready?

December 27, 2017 By Cara Lumen

The truth is, you’re never “ready”; you just simply have to start.  It doesn’t make any difference how good it is, or how successful it becomes, what you’ll have learned in the doing of it is immeasurable.

My friend thinks she’s not ready.  She doesn’t know enough, she’s not prepared enough.  How/where does she get the self-confidence if she doesn’t try to do it?

You won’t know whether you can or you can’t until you do it and find out how much you know and how much you still have to learn.

Life is like that.

Take the first step.

Try one thing after another.

Get better each time.

Clarify by explaining what you do to others

One of the most clarifying and sometimes difficult ways I begin to “own” something is to find the simplest words that’ll let me explain it to others who have no experience with what I’m talking about.  A true “beginner’s mind.”  Look for ordinary words that create a one-line introduction.

I now explain my own work by saying, “I help you recognize the messages from your inner world. I use shamanic journeying, which is the earliest form of meditation. It’s a powerful form of healing and guidance.”

But it took me a long time to get it all down to those few words.  Find a simple, yet core explanation for what you do for others. You’ll hugely clarify your own purpose in the process.

How do you explain what you do in the simplest of terms, for a beginner’s mind?

What does your work do for others?

The simplest answer is the best one.  And that simple answer explains exactly what your work will do for others.  One step at a time.  One process at a time.  For instance, shamanism lets you explore the 95% of your world that’s invisible and brings back answers that help you in your human experience.

How do you absorb the work you have chosen to do?

We absorb by reviewing the material, applying it to our own lives and then explaining it to others.

I take shamanic journeys for myself.  I journey for family and friends. I journey for the well being of the world (that’s particularly empowering!). I reread the material from the extensive courses I’ve taken and the many books I’ve read on the topic – but most of all I practice.  I just do it. I make it my own.  I will learn to conduct ceremonies, for me alone in the beginning, in order to decide for myself how I want to do it.

Begin by doing.

Know what your role is

As I deepen my practice of shamanism, I look for guidance regarding my role.  I’ve been an explorer and map maker for a long time now, and that’ll continue. I am not to teach shamanism; I may only occasionally journey for others. But I do know that I’m to continue to explore and share what I find with others.  I am the inspirer and motivator for others to go learn this for themselves if it calls to them. But I am not the teacher of the details.

Know what your role is.

It was very empowering for me to realize my specific role.  Just as I absorbed Taoism into my life and my philosophical writing, so will I absorb shamanism.  My core purpose is the exploration of the inner planes and the sharing of what I discover there.

I’ll never be “ready” to share that.  I simply share what I figure out and move on.

You are ahead of someone

If you’ve read one book on a topic, you’re ahead of the person who hasn’t.  If you’ve added one practice to your life, you’re ahead of the person who hasn’t.  So you always have something to share, with someone, in some manner.

What’s your unique gift to our world and how are you sharing it?

You are ready you know.  Just begin.

The Stumbling Block Called “Decision”

September 14, 2017 By Cara Lumen

path with boulders 2

The next steps were easy, but each one called for a decision to be made.  I realized that it was the need to make more choices that was holding back my progress.

I was putting a book up on iBooks.  They wanted key words.  A decision.  They wanted a sample chapter.  A decision.  They wanted…you get the picture.  The steps were easy but each one needed a decision on my part.

I looked around to see where else in my life decision-making was slowing me down – or stopping me altogether.

Choose one important thing and do it

My life changed when I read a suggestion that we simply pick one important thing to accomplish each day and do it.  What a difference that made! One thing.  One important thing.  Just one.

So if I choose to get the book cover in iBooks Author as my one important thing that meant I could look at an instruction video, again, and make my decision.  Then I could read the section on uploading in iProducer.  And make uploading the book the most important thing I did the next day.  Each day moves me further along.  And each day I have only one important thing to accomplish.

I can do that.  And so can you!

Group the type of tasks

It helps to group types of tasks together. I record four videos at a time because the light is set up, my hair is combed, etc.

I write posts every day, but once a month I go through them and pull out the ones that seem to have value.  Then I work on them every other day for at least three days, so I can return to them with a beginner’s mind.  Then I run them through www.grammarly.com and send them to my editor.  When they come back I spend a focused period of time choosing photos for all of them and bingo – I have a month’s worth of posts ready.

All because I batched my actions.

Clear space to do the work

If we’re going to focus on one thing, we have to make a decision on what we’ll momentarily put aside in order to make that happen.

If my one important thing to do this week is to edit a batch of posts, then I probably won’t record my vLog.

If my weekly newsletter is due each Sunday, I have to work on it several times during the week.  I find myself inspired to write pieces of it, but on Thursday I set aside time to edit and polish it and send it to be proofed.

Keep your schedule and your choices flexible and simply go with the flow of what’s needed next.

Keep your choices simple

I was stressing out over the number of places I could/should publish my e-books.  Since that technical action is not my favorite thing to do, it was even more dreaded.

Then a friend said, “Where do you buy your books?” And I said, “Amazon.”  She said, “Just do that.”

Life certainly got easier just by simplifying my choices.

Wrap your head around it

That’s an odd phrase – “wrap your head around it.”  There are four distinct steps to that: study, explore, reflect, choose.

Study. Study the situation to get the widest possible view.

Explore. Go a little way down the paths that call most to you and see what possibilities/potential they hold.

Reflect. Go within and listen to your intuition, your inner voice, your feelings, your knowingness.

Choose. Pick one step, one project and begin.  You can always stop. You can always expand.  Just make a choice and begin.

Exploration and expanding choice

The more you go exploring, the broader your choices become.

When I made my first book covers, it was based on what I knew how to do at the time. But I kept experimenting and exploring different programs and allowing what I learned to become absorbed.

And I got better.

And better.

The more you learn, the broader your choices become.

Use visioning to explore

If I were faced with a decision that required me to place myself in a new position – or not – I’d use my imagination to explore my options.  I’d examine my emotions and feeling and state of happiness in the new opportunity compared with my present circumstances, and let those feeling guide my choices.

For instance, as I study shamanism I’ve become clear that I do not want to develop a big practice for individual clients.  But I do want to help change the world. I’ve found a form of shamanistic participation that fits my intentions and my circumstances.  Now I get to explore exactly how I’m going to live that and share that. I simply let it unfold.

Sometimes one choice is as good as another

It doesn’t really matter what form my shamanic practice takes as long as I continue to explore and expand my own understanding and find expressive ways to share what I learn with the world.

Another example is that it doesn’t matter if I stir fry my vegetables or steam them.  As long as I make the healthy choice of eating vegetables.

Some decisions are important.  Others not so much.

Tomorrow is good too

If something blocks our way, move it aside for the moment. For instance, I was editing a batch of posts. I make my selections from all I’ve written lately, put them in one document and start working.

I came to one that needed a lot of work.  I moved it to the bottom of the document I’m working in because I’ll feel better moving through the posts that are coming together well.  I can put the decision of what to do about that post that needs work until all the rest are ready.  I can make it the first thing I do tomorrow.  It’ll be one decision and I’ll feel good about what I’ve already accomplished – the posts that are ready to go for proofing.

Allow yourself flexibility in your schedule and your choices in order to do your best work.

Make one decision at a time

Make a choice and go exploring. If that choice doesn’t feel right, go back to base camp and begin again in a different direction.  If, on the other hand, you come to an enticing side trip, feel free to take that too.

Life is a wonderful adventure full both of choices and of surprises.  Enjoy the journey.
