The Other Person’S Shoes
Insights OF A Deeper Song
Living our Light
Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!
I sit here safely tucked in and have no clue what it feels like to be running out of food, or facing eviction. I cannot imagine being a black woman driving her car, being stopped by the police with guns drawn, and have my children put into handcuffs. I have not experienced being crowded into a multi-generational home with no privacy and no space to express myself.
So what do I do? I shake my head and my heart is sad and…what? It feels huge, much greater than I am capable of healing.
Some of my oblivion comes from being unaware, particularly as I was younger. But even now, I am sheltered from the world at large.
I don’t know if I’m supposed to watch more news so I stay informed or shut out the news from all the really off-balance things that it portrays.
I have always had what I need in my lifetime. I do not know what it means to be in need.
We each have our particular place to serve. I was never much of a hands-on helper, I was more of an organizing idea provider. I get to notice that and be OK with that. But if I’m an idea person I get to put that gift to work for the greater good.
How?
We are in the process of learning to raise our vibration. Not all of us will do it. Not all of us are meant to do it. But it is neither an honor, a bad thing, a privilege, or a punishment. It simply is. It is part of a grand over-arching pattern we, as humans, do not understand.
So I work on my inner world. I work with my inner voice. I experiment and I discover and I share it in a post or a podcast.
And I expand my spiritual practice. I add more intentional ritual. I work to evolve a deeper connection to the earth so I hear her rhythm and align myself with her vibration – her requests of me.
I meditate in the form of shamanic journeys. I create rituals of intentions. I hold high watch for those of us who are working to raise our vibration so that we experience success and raise ourselves to a new level of awareness and service.
We have to walk with determination in our own shoes. We have to walk our own path with as much awareness and thoughtfulness as we can muster. There are others walking beside us and we can hold our light high to light our mutual path, but each person has to walk in their own shoes and do it the best they can.
Fill your own shoes well. Then reach out a helping hand.
DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION
I walk my path as steadily as I can and hold my light high to show others a way.
DEEPER SONG PROCESS
- Look closely at your own path and how you are walking on it. Are you r standing upright? Are you moving forward? How bright is your light?
- Let your light expand to the hearts and minds of those around you, lending a helping hand when you are called, and send light energy to others to light their way.

MY DEEPER SONG THIS WEEK
How to Align Your Vibration within our Collective Vibrational Core
An Inner-World Exploration
In order to shift, realign, and rebalance our world, we must each deepen our awareness of that all-encompassing vibrational core, that one creative, generating, void energy and know and feel ourselves to be just that – one energy.

Inner Work
DO YOU JURNAL?
I write to figure things out, to see how I want to apply what I have learned or how or even if I am to apply them. That’s what journals do, they help you sort out your thoughts and ideas and feelings and intuitions.
When you write down a thought, it is safely captured and that frees you to look beneath that thought, to look more deeply into the next level of the message.
You can journal by hand or on your computer. You can dictate it to your computer if that feels right to you. (Just remember to say, “period” or you will have a major run-on mess.) Your journal might include some acknowledgment to yourself for what you accomplished. It may be a thoughtful review of an experience you had or a step you took that felt very aligned. It’s not a to-do list, it is an acknowledgment of your awareness, of your progress, and a desire to understand what lies below the surface, to hear your inner voice more clearly.
I stop often during my day to write about an awareness I have experienced, a message I received in a journey a thought I want to explore. I capture it so I can look at it at a time when I am prepared to explore it more thoughtful and perhaps even to take action.
Go within and explore and examine the messages of your day. Then, write them down for clarity and contemplation.

Outer Work
BE SELECTIVE
This month be a good month to tidy up your to-do list, perhaps unsubscribe to those emails you no longer need.
It is a good idea to look at your projects and prioritize them. Is there an aspect that you can hire done for you? Do you need some more training? Is there a topic you want to explore? Look at the rest of the year and see what you need and want to put in place.
But first, complete or abandon what is no longer relevant.

PURE WATER
My skin is as soft as silk. My hair is soft and shiny. My cat is as soft to touch as velvet. And that means we are soft and clear inside as well. And it’s all beech of the water we drink. I have used a Nikon Water Filter for 25 years. I actually bought a new one last year but gave my old one away because it’s still extremely usable. The
Nikken PiMag Waterfall sits on my kitchen counter in a position for me to fill it from the spray hose on my sink. It contains a powerful filter and mineral rocks that together improve the water even if it’s from a good water source. I just wanted you to know it exists. My cat and I are sitting here as soft as newborns – inside and out.

FIND THE RIGHT PLACE
In a journey this week some things were suggested that I want to establish in my life. I’m to create a moment in which I reach and maintain a point of stillness. How I do that is under exploration. I want it to be a simple moving within to that point of stillness so I can connect more deeply with it and clarify and apply what I learn there. What if I could figure out how to sit here and become a single point of stillness. I have experienced that only once in my life. Even the idea makes me deepen my stillness.
What do you want to add to your life as a meditative practice and how will you do that?

WHAT SERVICES ARE NO LONGER NEEDED?
Our future is now and it sure looks different than yesterday did. As I think about how we are to each reposition ourselves. I am aware of some services that will be needed less. Being a tailor, for instance. If we all stay home in our comfortable clothes we have no need for a tailor – or even much of a variety of clothing. So what do you do if you love to sew and create things out of fabric? The fashion industry will take a big hit because of the lack of social events to dress up for.
And will they come back? Not to the extent they used to be because our new normal is to work from home. And that does mean increased work in the technology we barely know about They recently printed a 3-D house in three weeks which with transform the building trade. What about musicians, people who make their living playing in concerts and on tours, the backstage roles that are part of that business. The timeline for live concerts is rather far off. What do those people do in the meantime? How do they reposition themselves to mover forward?
We have each been given a multitude of gifts but it’s the expression of our passion that we seek most. So I may become a street musician with my guitar case open for donations, but there are no longer theater crowds emerging from the theater district. What about the actors – it’s hard enough to get work when there is work to be had. What if you have a passion that is no longer needed in the workplace?
These seem to all be creative examples, artistic examples. And once you have known full artistic expression, there does not seem to be any sort of substitute for it.
I don’t have answers here, just more questions.
I remember years ago in New York City talking to a woman who was called upon to take all of the broadway show cast photos. She was grateful for the income but she said she did not have time to do her own work. Or course not, she was doing commercial work, not self-exploration expression work.
How do we feed our soul if we are creative? I guest we get very creative….
I can write for the sheer joy of writing but its more rewarding to know I have touched a life or two.
Work is all so tied up in making a living and what you are suited to do. Work needs to be more than that.
I think of the farm workers who do labor to feed their families. What happens to a creative child in that environment? We often go in the direction our parents did, unless someone helps us to go further, to take a path more suited to our individual gifts.
The point is we each get to rethink and re-examine what we need at our core. And how to get it for ourselves.
No, wiring commercials is not nearly as rewarding as writing what calls to me. Playing a song alone is less rewarding than if I can share it with someone and we can play off of eh other’s gifts. Is that the answer, then, to share what you create? Possibly.
We each have been given several strong gifts. Now is the time to look closely and get very creative about how we can offer those gifts to bring ourselves personal satisfaction as well as income.
There is one other major observation around this new how-do-I-make-a-living scenario we are in. Consume less. Choose less. Get creative and create our own entertainment. Remember the game where one person starts a story, gets it to a point of decision or challenge, and then passes it to the next person to continue the story? That’s a great family adventure.
Not everyone was cut out to be a parent and yes here we are expecting ourselves to be a focused parent, gifted teacher, reliable workers, and fulfill our own calling. The lucky children are the ones with smart parents who can teach them at home and support them in their learning. But even as they do that, they get to rethink about the child’s future – and they get to be evolved choices they will have.
I remember taking geometry in high school and wondering where I would ever use that. The first and possibly only time I did was want I was making pleated drapes and had to figure out the spacing and the depth of the pleat and how much material to buy. But I’m glad I could figure that out.
Explore as many skills and areas of knowledge that you can. The internet makes it easy. How can you repurpose what you know? I have a friend who is a master horticulturist. She could explore plant healing or make a new hybrid food or… Take your skill and your passion and shape it into sometime new and usable. Then offer it to the world.
Be creative Think creative. Make up you own perfect income stream.

OUR EVOLVING FUTURE
I feel tremendous pride and hope for my country with the inclusion of a very powerful and capable woman, Kamala Harris, as vic- president nominee. She is so capable and well prepared that I am ready for her to go on to be president.
It is like a door opening, fresh air being let in, and a whole new level of feminine power begin put in place. Not only is this historic, this is life chaining for this country.
It’s not jut about placing a woman in power, it is about the change she represents in her awareness. She is of a younger generation and she is aware, astute, and very ready to govern.
Change is good. Change is well, life-chaining. My country needs so much healing. Let it begin with these two peacemakers.

FIND YOUR TRIBE
The lovely thing about having to stay home is that we have to go online to find our interactions with people and that opens up the entire world. I speak with friends in France and Switzerland, as well as people in the US. Here’s the caveat – you want to find people that stretch you, that make you think and consider new options for yourself. People at a similar level in the topic you have in common who are in on a similar life path. I have several people to talk shamanism with, I have one person to talk computer and web stuff with. Many of my friends are energy healers. One of my most amazing in-person friends is the Social Services Coordinator here at the Senior Center where I live. We had a great talk just the other day. We have just a plain ol’ affection for each other.
I need them all in my life.
How do you find these friends that resonate with your own path? Begin with an online class you are taking, post on the community FB page and see who responds and reach out to them. Classes are great ways to find like-minded friends. They have self-selected to show their interest in the topic.
Look over your past and perhaps reach out to someone who shared a portion of your path with you that you have carried forward. Only one of the six people I speak with regularly have I met in person. We use zoom or Skype and it is easy. And I have recently added frequent emails with a new friend.
Reach out. Begin with emails. Toss in a call or two and begin to expand your relationship. Schedule another call before you hang up to keep the momentum going. Like-minded friends are super important for your own personal growth. Expand our circle. Reach out.

CARA’S CORNER
SELF HEALING – SOUND HEALING
I had an extraordinary experience with my flutes this week. In my flute class with Christine Stevens, we begin to play to our emotions and something we wanted to heal. Playing with that intention changed my music.
We played to our home, to bless every corner of it with the sound vibration.
We played to others. I played to my sister who has Alzheimer’s and said yet another goodbye to the sister I had.
This playing to an emotion was all done though intention and opening my heart It was very powerful.
Now granted, the pentatonic scale of a native flue has no wrong combinations, but there is much you can do with your breath and your tongue and your fingers – and your intention. But the key to this experience was playing from my heart – in gratitude, in blessing – with purpose. It took me to a whole new level of self-healing and made me realize how vital and powerful sound healing is.
I also realized I need to get Christine’s recommended drum app because before the class there was a drumming soundtrack she had made and it expanded my playing to have that rhythm as a counterpoint.
I also have three flutes to choose from and I chose them depending on the intention of the playing. I cried three different times with emotional release from my own life.
All that from a piece of wood with some holes in it.
The first known flute was made out of an animal leg bone and the spacing of the holes in the same today.
Native flutes are made from wood so before we play we have a ritual to honor its connection to the branches which touch the sky and to the earth were their roots reach. And finally, we connect our flute to our heart which is to be the source of our music.
I write this because I was surprised at the intensity and the ease with which the emotional connection happened.
Vibration is healing and it takes may forms – especially music.
How do you have music in your life?
