What are Your Beliefs about Your Future?

What ae Your Beliefs about Your Future?

Insights from a Deeper Song

Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!

Our beliefs create our life experience so it is impotent that you and I look carefully at what we believe is in the process of evolving, where we think we are going to fit in, and what it will look like because of our thinking and our expectation. Our beliefs have the power to change the trajectory of our future.

In my Shamanic Circle with Hank Wesselman he quotes some interesting authors who said that in our “next”, we seem to go where we believe we will go.  Now that’s very inserting. That means if we change our belief here and now, it will change our “next”.

Well, we know that to be true in this lifetime. It makes sense that it is true in the next.

Another point the class offered was that hunters and gatherers did not believe in higher powers, they knew very well the spirit of nature and communicated with those spirits for guidance and insights.  It was a very shamanistic existence – communing with nature.

Religious belief systems seem to reflect back the basic characteristics of the social order in which they appear. The more hierarchal and structured the culture becomes the more hierarchal and structured the region is.

Now that’s very interesting. I was looking at where my belief system fit in. I’m very drawn to Taoism which recognizes that there is an ongoing flow of energy form to energy form.  There is no higher or lower energy. There is simply Tao.  All that is.  I am dawn to that. In Unity and zen Buddhism, the natural and the supernatural are not different, they are seen as different aspects of the same thing. Ernest Holmes who taught the work of Thomas Troward to form Science of Mind was trained by some of the same people the founders of Unity were.  I immersed myself deeply in the world of Troward and Holmes in what is now called Center for Light Living.

All religions have a system of ethics that is based on the beliefs of their social stratification. Have and have nots or one communal tribe.

When I try to imagine where this group of humanity may be headed as we move into this huge reposition, I begin by looking at our system of conduct.  I realized that we find ourselves separated into two major groups depending on our belief – one group believes in a social hierarchy and another group has an awareness of all being one.

I already know that those of us who are working with vibration and the concept of raising our vibration, understand, and experience each other as one big web of energy. We are also aware that what we do affects the whole. We are in a minority and there is no way I could go have a conversation with people who are not on this individualistic, stand-alone path that would make much sense to them.  I’m sitting here in the conservative Mid-West with not a lot of takers here for this raise your vibration stuff.  However, according to HeartMath.org, every thought in our heart connects 100 thousand hearts around us.  We have work to do.

I find like-minded people all around the world. We find each other on the internet; truly the world wide web. We share with each other.  We bolster each other. We work with each other. We raise our vibration together.

What do I do for our planet right now?  I am to keep raising my own vibration so others see it. I explore the unseen world and share what I find with others so they recognize our collective light in themselves and chose to raise their own vibration.

Not all of us are on this journey together and that is just the way it is supposed to be.

I don’t know what our world and our lives will look like as this new era evolves.  But I know that as I deepen my awareness of my inner world, as I actually explore the 95% that is the Unseen world, I am given new awareness, new ideas for an action show up, and when I act on what I am shown, I will be shown where I am to go next.

We each have our own life expressions to work with.  Our own beliefs, our own actions, our own choices. We are to keep listening to our inner wisdom, keep choosing for our highest good, and stay open to new insights and ideas and realizations that are unfolding in this New Era.

Change is constant.  Change is exciting.  Change is unsettling.  Change is good.

We are evolving into a higher vibration.  Yeah us.
And the adventure has just begun…

DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION

With consciences focus, I seek to raise my vibration
higher and higher and join with
other Light Vibrations who are doing the same.

DEEPER SONG PROCESS

  • Become aware of your own vibration and experiment and explore the ways you choose to raise your vibration to a higher level.
  • Become aware of our vibration of one energy as a field of energy and resonate with others of this same higher vibration.
  • Make your light, your vibration as high you can, and follow where it takes you.
  • Let others see your light and follow – or not.
  • Let it be.
  • And simply be.

Inner Work

FIND THE ENERGY POINTS

I have begun to put my drumming back into my spiritual practice.  It was talking up a lot of time first thing and I was eager to get to my creative work so I dropped it for a while.  I needed to find a new energy point for it. Now to begin my day I sit looking out the window and play all there flutes and I have recently begun to sing a song of intention to my day.
When I realized I was ready to put the drumming back in my day, I began to look for the right energy point.  A synergetic meeting of energy and willingness….!

If you have a habit or a practice you want to establish, look at the places in your day where you are energetically willing to put them.

I have some exercises tied in with the action of making my bed.  I have some stretching moves ties in with being at the kitchen sink while waiting for my tea to brew.

I want to put Qi Gong back and just discovered that each time I return to my computer I am to look out at nature and do some Qi Gong moves first.  Each time. Several times a day.  It’s a perfect energy point for mindful movement.

Decide what still point you want to add to your day, what it will look like, how long it will take. Will it change your rhythm and therefore be welcome?  Move from sedentary to action and back to sedentary. Can you combine things or do they need to be separate?  What is their purpose – to stimulate or calm or center or strengthen? What is the reminder prompt for you?

Expand what you are doing now. I walk down the hall to get my mail in the late afternoon.  I’m going to expand that – walkup up and down the hallway several times.  I can also change the rhythm of that walking – mindfully or rapidly or a combination.

Choose the practices that call to you, that works for you that resonates with you, and begin to add them to your day one at a time until they are security embedded.

I have m daily shamanic journey tucked in at 1230 or so.  What do you want in your spiritual practice and where do you want to put it that you can immerse yourself in it?  I have several mindful sill points in my day.

Tune in to the energy of your day and identify the energy points that call for you to change your energy.  Then do that/

Outer Work

TRADITION VERSUS CREATIVITY

I currently live in the conservative mid-west.  I have lived on both coasts which is where I truly belong.  But this is an old-age choice because my daughter lives here.

I was thinking about tradition and how relieved my son-in-law seemed when we established that my time for Christmas with them was breakfast on Christmas Eve morning for – my choice – pancakes and fresh pineapple and real maple syrup. He even pointed out that we now have a tradition established.  He and my daughter have lots of traditions. It is how they want it.  But it occurred to me that by doing something the same way each time you limit your ability to explore and expand and create.  And I love to do all of those. So I am not a fan of tradition. I prefer improvisation – making stuff up in the moment.

I learned to disregard holidays when I lived alone in New York City.  I bought myself a birthday present and a Christmas present but beyond that, I just lived my life.

I rebel at all the holidays.  I don’t like to be told what to do on a specific day, who to honor, how to celebrate.  So I don’t.  I honor Winter Solstice instead of Christmas.  I honor Sprint Equinox instead of Easter.  You get the picture.  I go back to my pagan roots and take my cues from nature.

I’m looking at shamanism the same way.  I do not want to go back and learn the details and traditions that have evolved over the generations.  I want to underhand the intention and ask my current spiritual awareness to get me where I need to go.

Guess I’m still a rebel in my wold – at least a non-conformist, an independent thinker.

I’m also am not one to dwell on the past, except for the lessons I learned and the changes my choices made in the unfolding of my life’s journey that I can build on now.  I am both eager and content to live in the present moment.  To reposition myself in the now based on my insights and needs.  I live in the moment and respond from an ever-deepening awareness of my inner guidance.

Perhaps you want to examine the traditions you have and see if and how you want to reframe them.  What do you need to create in your “now?”

EXERCISE YOUR LUNGS

I woke up in this middle of the night with shortness of breath and it scared me. I’m going to make a really lousy old person because I didn’t like it.  I did some online research to see what it was and I don’t know but it did make me realize that I am not exercising my lungs.  No aerobics, no long walks.  No wonder my lungs woke up grouchy.  So I went online and the first thing I found was 6 Breathing Exercises for Older Adults

Heres’ the one I have begun to work with.

Breathing from the Chinese practice of Tai Chi.

This involves taking three short breaths

Breath  One – raise, your arms shoulder height in front of you,

Breath Two – pull your arms out to shoulder height at your sides

Breath three raise your arms  above your head.

Then slowly exhale and lower your arms back down to your sides.

Try 10-12 repetitions. If you get light headed, stop the exercise.

There is a diaphragmatic breathing exercise I learned in Bikram Yoga (Hot yoga) that I really like.  While standing, bend forward to put your hands on your knees and do diaphragmatic breathing. Breath in and contract your diaphragm, breathe out through your open mouth and release your diaphragm. It’s a bit like slow panting. Feel your diaphragm actively and energetically go in and out.   I do 50 repetitions.

I’m going to put that one back into my day.

My healer friend Christina Gerber suggested that placing your fingers at the base of your sternum is calming as you breathe.

Also holding your lung points inside your shoulders (at the hollows here) helps give you deeper breaths.

Notice what you have stopped doing as you age and find a version you can still do and then do it.

Beaching is a pretty core activity….!

HEALING

Healing is about bringing back something that is missing.  I’m not sure where I heard this concept but I made a note of it to explore.

The first missing thing that comes to mind is balance. When things are out of balance everything is affected.

I’ve been working with a tilted right pelvis that got untitled in recent healing so in theory that puts me back in balance.  Now, of course, the muscles in the other leg are hollering loudly because they have to work differently than hey had become accustomed to. And as my hips align my spine is straightening above it.  It too is grouchy. It’s all related as balance continues to come back into place.

Healing is about bringing back something that is missing.  We have lots of emotional things a bit out of balance with the isolation of the pandemic.  Look closely to see what that is.  I have had three in-person in-depth conversions in the past six months.  Fortunately, I have friends with whom I speak on Zoom on a regular basis.

What is missing? What is out of balance?  I do not have a good balance between writing and exercise and taking care of my food/home care needs.
Consider actions.  One of the ways I have learned to rebalance my body is to do leg lifts to the back and knee raises to the front, and standing sit-ups from a chair.

What do you need to add that is the opposite of what you are doing/feeling too much of?

Healing is about bringing back something that is missing.  What is missing in your life?

ARE WE RAINBOW WARRIORS?

In my early shamanic journeying years ago one of my first guides was a  young man I called Rayne. He said he was a Rainbow Warrior. I had not heard that term before and I had no idea what it meant so I look it up.  Notice what it says about the world today. I think we are all Rainbow Warriors…. OUR EVOLVING FUTURE  – NEW VARIABLES

New variables are like the wind shifting and we have to adjust our sails. Or the wind comes and you have to take shelter, or the sky clears and you take a nap under a tree. Different “climates” illicit different responses.  We are continually coming across new variables in our life.  We have great choices in what we do with them.

Here’s the trick.  We get to change but we also get to bring with us what is the most nurturing, the most interesting aspect of what we have going on in our lives.

For instance, my switch to podcasts brings with it the same exploration and discovery I have in my posts but speaking those words adds a tangible vibration that elevates the experience.  The variable is the format. The message is the same.

In the course of exploring new variables, build on what you love.
Reframe how you see what you do.  I teach all the time but I teach it once and move on to the next discovery. So while I definitely do not want to teach Life 101 over and over, there are fundamental concepts that I bring forward into all my work.  I teach, but it’s an ongoing discovery process for both of us.

The variables you embrace are to strengthen your journey.  Learning a new skill comes to mind.  I’m getting better at recording and editing and that may open up some new opportunities for me.  I know I’m going to create some introspective processes in my podcasts. I started a new weekly Meaningful Pause offering because I wanted to add more mindful still points to my own life so I’m teaching and I’m leaning at the same time.  I  always teach what I want to learn.

Variables could be a physical change. More exercise, better food, finding more friends. Each change you make changes the dynamic of the whole you.

Evaluate what you leave behind.  What does your new choice replace?  Maybe you have to create some sort of revolving cycle so you keep the things you love in your life. I still have some books to put up on Amazon.  A c couple of days work would make that happen.  I want to add more movement in m life.  Getting the links to the exercise videos I have chosen would be an easy starting place.  I want to cook more for myself, I just have to find the right time of the day to do that.

If you are lonely, reach out.  If you are bored, learn something.  We have a huge ability to change our lives.  What variables do you want to bring into your life and what will they do for you?  Do that.

CARA’S CORNER

OUR ROLE IN THE NEW CONSCIOUSNESS

In a recent journey, I asked why there was so much negativity in the world today.

The answer was both reassuring and a call to action.

“This is a time for the establishment of higher group consciousness.  Help shine your light brighter so others can see and make their choice. There are levels the group consciousness must reach. There’s a shift of consciousness that is taking place for those who are willing to change that will lift the vibration of the planet. This is a test of consciousness.  Can this planet rise to the occasion as a collective?  You are being tested. Keep focusing on the greater good.”

On one hand, I feel better.  On the other, there is work to do.
What I visualize is a field of golden consciousness, a high vibration that is encircling the planet  As people join in it shines brighter and others see it and recognize that light in themselves. Then they raise their consciousness and their vibration and join us. But what I have begun to consider is that we in this Collective Consensus of Raised Vibration may find ourselves separated from the planet or in an alternate reality or –  I don’t know.  I just see a group bonding that will strengthen us and also separate us from lower vibration.  On one hand, we will be safe.  And we have work to do to get there.

My mind just flashed on he hunters and gathers where each person participates for the good of the collective.  This new change may be a conscious version of that.  Working for the collective, the continuing raised vibration of the collective, the continued awareness of being one energy that the group continues to embrace as their new reality.
I am ready to live in that awareness, that world, that consciousness of our oneness.

It helps me to rise about the chaos of the planet and move into an internal still point and feel and hear and see and experience us all as one high vibration. As we sit here we impact each other and our collective vibration raises.  I am very willing to live in that world with other points of light.
This is a shift in consignees we are going through.  Raise your thoughts.   Raise your vibration.

The Path We Choose

An Exploration of the Unseen World

We are responsible for the journey we take.  We are responsible for the path we choose. We choose what we bring with us in our backpack and we are responsible for how willing we are to keep going.

Years ago, when I left the Mid-west to move to New York City, a friend gave me a copy of the Robert Frost Poem “The Road Less Traveled.”  50 years later it still hangs on my wall. It has lived on both coasts and is now back the Mid-West – a circuitous route, truly a road less traveled.

And I am forever grateful that I had the courage to take the Road Less Traveled.

We make our choices. We reap the response. With each choice, we learn how to choose better and we keep on going.

Where are you on your journey?  What new options are you considering?  Where are you headed?

I’m Cara Lumen, spiritual philosopher and founder of the Deeper Song Community. I am a cosmic explorer who consciously travels into the unseen world to serve as a bridge to help us expand our relationship with the spiritual world. I share what I learn and guide those who are ready to the next level so we can sing a deeper song.  Thank you for being a part of this journey

In this episode of Reflections of a Deeper Song, we think about The Path We Choose.

This is a translation of a poem by Antonio Machado.  When I first heard it I cried.  It is called “Traveler.”

Traveler, your footsteps are the road
There is nothing more.
Traveler there is no road.
The road is made by walking.
 Walking makes the road.
And if you turn around you only see the path you can never walk again.
Traveler, there is no road, only a trace of foam upon the sea

Let me read it again:

Traveler, your footsteps are the road
There is nothing more.
Traveler there is no road.
The road is made by walking.
 Walking makes the road.
And if you turn around you only see the path you can never walk again.
Traveler, there is no road, only a trace of foam upon the sea

There is a sadness about never going back. There is a challenge in knowing your next step is creating your new path.

Let’s see hat we can learn from this poem:

What is our read made of? What choices have you made that brought you to where you are today?

How do we make our road? If each step is responsible for creating our path, how aware are you of the next step you are taking?

Finally, what are our choices about directing our path? How do we make them?  How do we choose?

What is our read made of?

“Traveler, your footsteps are the road
There is nothing more.”

With each step, we create the path we take. Our choice directs were we go next.  Now that is very important to know.   That means that in every move we have choice . Choice to go one way or another, we get to take the path that goes up or the path that goes down or left or right or straight ahead.

With each step in each moment, we are creating our path.  Each thought creates our next experience. We can control that.  The deeper the awareness we have of our own heart, our own purpose,  the more aligned is the step we take as we make our road one chosen step at a time.

Do we stand still on our road? If only footsteps make the road, then standing still to consider, to contemplate before we choose our next step is a good thing to do.  But we don’t move forward until we take that next step.  That next step creates our road.

How do we make our road?

We have created where we are stanging today through the choices we did or did not make. I am deeply aware that some of my choices were made with more awareness than others.  And some steps were taken in response to an experience.  We each create our own path by the choices we do or do not make. The steps we do or do not take.

“Traveler there is no road.
The road is made by walking.
Walking makes the road.”

If I stand here doing nothing, I am not traveling, I am not moving forward.  “The road is made by walking.” So I have to take a step. I have to make a choice. I have to put one foot in front o the other and look to see where it has taken me.  I have to see if it is aligned with my beliefs and if it is taking me where I want to go, to what I want to do.

I can only move forward by taking a step, and then another step and then another step. “Walking makes the road.”

We need to try, we need to explore, we need to experiment. We have to move forward in order to learn, to understand, to experience, and to absorb.  That’s a lot from one step. But even one step provides us with a new view.

“Traveler there is no road.
The road is made by walking.
Walking makes the road.”
And we cannot walk the path again .”

There is no going back. What’s done is done.  Learn from it, change from it, and build on what you learned – but you cannot go back and change it .

“And if you turn around you only see the path you can never walk again.
Traveler, there is no road, only a trace of foam upon the sea.”

How delicate is our journey.  We have left ripples with our footsteps but those ripples are long gone.  We have survived the high seas of our journey, the high tides, the low tides, but there are no traces of our path, our footsteps, our traveling though left to see.  Only in your heart, only in your memory, only in your regrets only in your knowledge that you made good choices. You walked a strong path.  And those steps of the past are not your next step.  They are gone.  Past moments in time that has dissolved.

It’s as if we are standing on a ledge of time with only a next step to take.  We can choose a new direction. We can choose a big step or a small step, a hesitant step, or a bold one.  We can go in one direction or the other. But the only way our road unfolds is if we take a step.

Here’s the Robert Frost that still hangs on my wall and live in my heart.

The Road Not Taken

BY ROBERT FROST

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Traveler, your footsteps are the road
There is nothing more.
Traveler there is no road.
The road is made by walking.
 Walking makes the road.
And if you turn around you only see the path you can never walk again.

Traveler, there is no road, only a trace of foam upon the sea

Heal Your Past, Present and Future

August 29, 2017 By Cara Lumen

future web

We make so many mistakes when we are young because we’re unconscious or we don’t know any better. Sometimes we do things because we’re copying our parents or believe what they tell us.  Only later do we realize it was their path, not ours.

And what about past lives, if you believe in that, how do we heal the wounds of mistakes or poor choices that we don’t even remember?

Intention heals. Work in the present moment

It was suggested to me by a very intuitive shaman that in order to bring balance to my current life, particularly in the healing of my eyesight, I needed to weave together the threads of my past, my present, and my future.  I decided to do that literally and chose three different colors of string to weave together in a healing and wholing fashion.

I found three colors of string in my home. You can use ribbon, thread yarn, paper ribbon, or, as I did, colored string you happen to have.

Decide how you think you might like to use this.  Do you want it long enough to drape around your neck for a ceremony or meditation?  Do you want it to simply wrap around your finger?  Whatever length you cut will be perfect.

I happened to have twine on hand in brown, green, gold and red. I measured from the tip of my nose to my outstretched fingers and cut off even lengths from each color. I blessed the string and thanked it for its service.

I decided to do healing on all three – my past, my present, and my future. I began by choosing a core, the light that is me, the thread that represents me, my invisible self, that exists now, existed in the past, and will exist in the future.  I happened to have some gold string. That became the representative of my light, my essence, my invisible self that was, is and will be present in my past, my present and my future.  I used that as the core of my healing ceremony and planned to weave around that beautiful core of gold, the light of my being.

Create an intent and action

I chose a tan-colored string for my past and held it in my right hand to send it energy. First I forgave myself for what I did not do in the past and for any harm I had done, particularly unconsciously. That could be in the past of this lifetime or in my past lives.  In particular, I chose to let go of the unconscious beliefs I had absorbed as a child, which either no longer serve me or were a wrong assumption or conclusion for my path.

I have no idea what interactions I had in past lives, and there are many mistakes in this life that I was either unaware of or don’t remember. In my “past” string, I put in the energy of protection, healing old wounds, forgiveness for me and for others.

I did some visualization.  I went into my inner self and cleaned house.  I tossed out stuff I no longer needed.  Cleaned in the corners. Opened the windows to let in fresh air. I cleaned my inner space of any energy that was negative.  I spent time releasing old fears, old beliefs, old misinterpretations of experiences I had had.  In general, I wiped the slate of my past as clean as I could get it.  I was ready for a fresh start.  I lay the “cleansed” brown string of my past on the altar before me.

The next colored string I happened to have on hand was a wonderful green. I loved that color for my present life, my present self-expression. It represents growth and I love the growth I continue to experience in my life.

Now bear in mind that this is the present in my imagination and I chose that in my present life, beginning here and now I am all I can possibly be.  I acknowledged my passion and gifts, gave gratitude for my talents and present insights and for the time I spend listening to my inner voice that makes clear where my passion is leading me.

I let the rest of my life go and simply stood here in the present, in the now, and knew and accepted what I am to do.  When I felt fully present, I considered that green strand ready to weave.

The third string happened to be red.  I needed the future to be fiery and passionate and forceful and full.  I have no idea what the future will bring and on top of that, we’re looking seven generations into the future and sending energy there.

The “future” string was my way to send positive energy to an unknown and unformed future that I cannot even imagine.  So in that red string, I put empathy and inclusion, patience and fortitude, imagination and creativity, flexibility and ever-deepening spiritual awareness.  And I pledged my gifts and talents to the well-being of the future.

And then I released my intentions to the Great Mystery.  I moved my focused energy out of the limitation of my human mind and into the vastness of my Invisible self.  Past.  Present.  Future.  Cleansed. Blessed. I pledged my best self.

I was ready to prepare my symbol of wholeness.  I gathered the four strands together, the gold light of me, and colored strands representing the past, the present and the future, tied a knot at one end and began to braid the three colored strands around the gold core of my invisible self.  I found I needed to keep the “me” gold twine with the “present” twine in order to weave it in the braid. I could have chosen to weave it with any strand.  Weaving “me” into the future would be an interesting choice.

With each cross of one twine over the other, I either released, or gave gratitude, or became more receptive to all the possibilities that were being opened up. After all, I was actively giving up the restrictions and false beliefs of my past. I was standing in the present moment with full awareness of my power and potential, and I was offering my self in service to the future.

With each strand.

With full conscious choice.

With high intention.

With each strand, I released my past, stood fully in my present and offered my light to the future. Over and over until I reached the end of the braid.  And then I tied a knot of completion.

The braided twine that represents my past, present and future now sit on my altar, that place I have chosen to hold reminders that continue to expand my spiritual awareness and guide me on my path.

I could create an affirmation to say to my past, present, future as represented in that braid like “I embrace all I am, release what no longer serves me, and pledge myself to a future of illumined service.”

When my healing strand was completed, I sat down to meditate with it.  The strand was long enough to wrap around my hand.  I began to sing an affirmation to it: “I see clearly, within and without.” I found myself yawning in release as I let the ceremony begin to heal the past, the present and the future. I went deep within where I was intuitively guided.  In my spiritual practice, I meditate with my “me” twine when I want to embrace the totality of me.

If you wanted to heal your past and dedicate your future, what ceremony would you create?
