I started to think about the things that are missing in my life, and I changed my mind. When I started counting the blessings instead, I also began to look at how well I took care of my gifts. Or did I?
The gift of life
I’m old and I’m grateful for a body that still works—not as well as it used to, but I’m still here. I have the gift of life, what am I doing to take care of it? There are a lot of things I can do better. As much as I love working at my computer, I have to add more movement to my life, regularly and more vigorously. That would be one way to care for my gift of life. How do you take care of your gift of life?
The gift of friends
When the focus of my interest became more intense, I founded an online community to help me sing a deeper song. I take time to widen and deepen those relationships. I find new ways we can nourish each other.
The gift of my mind
My mind is my favorite gift. It’s entertaining, curious, and enlightening. It takes me on adventures that enrich my experience. Of all my gifts, my mind is getting the best care of anything.
The gift of my talent
We’ve each been given special gifts in our own unique combination. How we develop those talents, where we put them to work, is up to us. I keep finding new ways to offer my gift of being able to explain complex ideas in simple terms. What I discover, I offer in posts, podcasts, videos, courses, and e-books. Where else can I put my talents in service? Are you using all your talents? Where else could you share them?
The gift of my impact
The unique manner in which our varied gifts and talents are expressed in our world creates our impact. We can adjust that combination of gifts, upgrade any part of it, and actively create a more impactful expression. How are you having impact? What gifts can you put more deeply in service?
The gift of a safe place to live
Feeling safe and secure are huge gifts. Gifts that, if you seem to have abundance, can be taken for granted. If your financial abundance in on the slim side, having a comfortable and affordable safe place to live is an important gift. Simplify to become safe. Move to become safe. Safety and security are tremendous gifts. How will you cultivate the feeling of safety and security in your life?
The gift of spiritual exploration
I’m curious. I always wonder about what’s next. I want to make a difference in my world. I have to honor my gifts. I have to find the most impactful ways for me to contribute. I get to explore my essence and express it more fully in my life.
Are these the gifts you expected to be grateful for? They are rather intangible. The way to care for them is subtle. How do you take care of your most valuable gifts? How do you place them into deeper service?
