The Body Suit Premise
Living Our Deeper Song
The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!
As we deepen our experience of Tao, the formless, infinite Source Energy, All There Is, we begin to see our life experience from a different vantage point.
At some point we decided to put on a body suit, to take the all-encompassing energy that is our essence, and squeeze it into a human form.
Why do we do that? Because there are certain things that the Universal Mind chooses to do that needs us in our body suits in order to do them. That is the form that has been chosen for universal work. In fact, every form that exists is part of the grand plan. Each one is indispensable.
So here we are in our body suits. We have a beginning birth, we have a middle life and we seem to have an end, a death. But that only takes place within the confines of our body suits. In our essence, we are still the everlasting, all-encompassing energy of Source. Time and space is a human concept. Infinity is what we are.
It is easy to forget that. We start to think of ourselves as only a body suit and think that we can only do as much as the body suit can do. We can see only so far, we can hear only so much, we can understand only up to a point. Those are the human limitations we place on ourselves when we view ourselves as only body suits. That is until we learn to look further.
How many times has your intuition guided you with inner words whispered through your thoughts that turn out to be significant? How many times have you moved beyond the confines of words into the realm of feelings in which love and gratitude are exchanged without words or gestures? How many times has an idea appeared out of the blue that sent you on a path of fulfillment when you pursued that idea?
When our body gets unbalanced, when our job gives us dissatisfaction, when our relationships are painful, we can be certain that all of that occurs because we are more focused on our body suit than on our Inner Essence. We have forgotten who we truly are. To change our situation, we must realign ourselves with our innate wholeness.
The ego is the product of the body suit. We think, “I can, I will, I want, I am” and we limit that sense of “I” to our body suits. “Limit” is the operative word. We do not dream big dreams because we can’t, from our human perspective, see how to make it happen. We don’t even try to do some things because we cannot see the possibility of achieving them.
When we move into the stillness within, we see the path, we hear the answers, and we know the steps to take. The way is made open for us.
Dropping the ego from our human perspective is a major step toward inner peace. When we drop our own agenda, our own needs, our own perceptions, we move into a space of non-attachment and know that because everything is made up of Source Energy, everything is perfect just as it is.
The grand plan is not revealed to us. It is enough to know that we are part of an infinite web and that each of us is an important strand in that web, unique and invaluable. We must remember that no one else has the exact same set of skills, talents, thoughts, love, understanding or compassion that we do and therefore, we must stand steady in our lives and fulfill our divine assignment.
Before you act, before you speak, as you think, open your awareness to your inner essence, that place of love and connection. Then you can speak. Then you can act. Then you can think and everything you do will be an expression of the one compassionate source.
DEEPER SONG AFFIRMATION
I am more that my body suit I am the Essence of All-That-Is.
DEEPER SONG PROCESS
- Become aware of your limiting beliefs as you consider yourself only a body suit.
- Evolve your spiritual practice into ways that help you become more aware of your existence as Divine Essence
- What does it look like? What does it feel like? How does that change how you see yourself? How does that change what you do?
Deepen Your Inner Awareness
Monitor Your Inner Thoughts
We have to be our own cheering section. We have to manage our thought to be certain that we are encouraging our best selves. Are you paying attention to your self chatter? Is it “Great job” or “That was a dumb thing to do.” That response may be so ingrained that you don’t even notice it.
Begin to acknowledge yourself for the positive things that you do and say and thank. Try to notice the nudges and unexpected opportunities as you move through your life but also take time at the end of your day to look back and notice your positive self-affirmations as well as your not-so-positive ones and see how you can make changes that focus on the positive.
Try especially to catch yourself in the midst of negative affirmations that you give yourself during your day and try to change them in that moment. Even something as small as changing “That was a dumb thing to do” to “What are some different choices I could have made” will help you change your thinking and your actions. Start monitoring your inner thoughts and notice how your life changes.
Design Your Life Through Intention
We are to use intention just as an artist uses her paintbrush, to design what we would like the Universal to help us create.
That’s an interesting idea, isn’t it? A blank slate upon which you can design your own life.
When we set an intention, we begin to provide a personally designed outline that creates guidelines for the Universal Principle to work in new ways that transcend anything in our past experience.
Prepare your canvas by setting your intention, and hand the brush to the Universe. You can re-design your life through intention.
Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself
What Seeds Are You Planting?
We reap what we sow. Look closely at what you are planting in your life and the crops you are planning to harvest.
I continue to plant the seeds of mental expansion as I write. I continue to explore and use this newsletter as a way to figure out how to apply these concepts in my own life.
I have been recently influenced by books on sound healing and intention that I have read and I have no clue about what I want to explore next. I just trust the Universe to present it to me when the time is right.
Be on the lookout for new seeds to plant, fields to plow, and mountains to climb. Create the life you love by the crops you cultivate today.
The Face In The Mirror
I got three great items at the Bingo Bucks “garage sale”. Two awesome metal butterflies to go on my wall of flowers and a hand mirror. Now I haven’t looked at my face in the mirror for a really long time. As I sat there looking at my reflection, I saw that my cheeks are no longer round and there are bags under my eyes and deep lines on my face. And then I thought about my facial expression. What face do I show to others when I am talking with them? Is it a frown of concentration? An open expression of interest? A look of distraction? All of that is unconsciously done, but it would be nice to be able to manage our facial expressions in case we are unintentionally and unconsciously sending the wrong signals.
Begin to notice the expression on your face the next time you are deep in conversation with someone. Cultivate an expression of sincere interest and attention.
Notice if your mind is wandering so that the expression you show others is one of interest and attention. All of that will show in our face and can be seen and understood by those with whom we speak.
Become more aware of the face you show to the world.
We Need Time To Lie Fallow
Farmers know their fields need rest. They rotate their crops and leave a different field open each season in order to restore its fertility. How do you do that in your life? How do we pick an area to lie fellow in a season?
Being still gives us time to heal and clear and release and re-examine our thoughts and expectations. How do we do that as a person?
There are some things I could never stop doing, like writing. But I don’t draw every day. I don’t even meditate every day. But I do learn every day.
I do seem to take a nap every day. I think that’s a bit like lying fallow.
A farmer leaves the field unplanted to restore its fertility.
I have a pretty good balance between my spiritual life, my creative life and my physical life but I cannot identify a field to lie fallow.
I do change the density of the books I read. I immerse myself in a project but do it in phases. I retreat and allow my thoughts to marinate. I explore different concepts. I pause to let my project lie fallow and provide myself with a fresh look after a time.
Pause in your project. Give yourself time to allow your imagination go exploring. Take a break. Build in fallow moments in your work to restore its fertility.
Explore New Potential and Possibilities
Pick Your Path
We are constantly offered tempting new paths to take. It is good to keep exploring, but we also need to keep our eye on our overarching goal and periodically let an area of our life lie fallow.
I love to learn, but not everything I learn will support me on the path I have chosen. Therefore, I need to be selective. I need to pick and choose what I will explore and what I will pass by and make certain that they are supportive of my journey on my major path.
I recently studied sound healing and will only use the parts of it that apply to my own self-healing since it’s not a profession I’m going to go into. But I will use it on myself.
I am working with the power of intention and I’m rather excited about the potential for helping manifest wholeness on our planet. I know that’s my objective and I will select the information I need to support that major goal.
It’s a good idea to pause on a regular basis to look around at where you are and make certain it is where you want to be. If it’s not what you want, you need to go exploring.
Use your imagination to create a clear picture of where you want to go and what you want to achieve so that as new doors of opportunity open you can select the ones that take you where you want to go.
Of course you can at least open the door and peek through to see if it is something you want to explore, but keep an eye on your overarching calling and don’t be pulled off course.
The Art of Cooperation
Cooperation is about give and take. It is about leading and following. And sometimes it takes a bit of both patience and practice.
Let’s say that you’re working on a team project and you have a great idea on how to do it. So does another person on your team. It is important to immerse yourself in the other person’s idea and then pick what moves the whole project forward. That means you may have to give up some of your pet ideas. It’s not that they wouldn’t work but perhaps not as well. By working specifically with another person and combining your ideas, you will probably create a better outcome. We all have to learn to let go and expand our options and the possibilities of what we can create together.
You have to learn to listen and consider and even expand the exploration of that other idea by adding your own insight to it. Then hopefully, after everything is considered, you pick some version of one of the eclectic versions you created up together and move forward.
Compromise, expanding each other’s ideas, giving up your pet approach and being focused on getting that job done in the best possible way – those are all elements of the art of cooperation.
===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===
Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness
Pause To Reflect
There are many times during our day that we could pause to reflect. There are lessons to be absorbed, insights to be explored and sometimes new choices to make. That’s a lot of results that can take place when we pause to reflect.
As you are traveling home from work look back over what you accomplished, what you learned, and release that as you make your transition to home. Before you enter your home, pause to move your thoughts forward to how you will spend your evening. Make a clear transition from work to home.
We should pause before we speak, especially if there is some emotion involved. We can pause before we eat to reflect upon the sources of the food and offer gratitude to those who grew it. Reflect in gratitude on the positive parts of your day and release those that were less than positive and give gratitude for a safe bed to sleep in.
I pause to reflect on my health. I pause to reflect on the condition of the world. I pause to decide what to write about. Pause to reflect to keep the doors of curiosity and insight open.
=== DEEPER SONG PHILOSOPHIES ===
The Freedom And Responsibility of Self-Determination
We are responsible for the shape of our lives. We are free to walk down whatever pathway we choose. We are free to express ourselves and we are responsible for how others perceive us. We have a great deal of freedom and power in designing and living our life. In fact, we are truly responsible for every choice we make, every response we have and every action we take. We have the freedom to determine everything we do. That affects the quality of our life. Sometimes our lives are a bit rocky. If things are going wrong, look within and see what is out of balance, or misguided, or a poor choice. Make the changes and change your life. You have the freedom to change. It’s up to you to make it. Keep creating the life you want.
===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEARERS===
Expand Your Role in the Rapidly Evolving Universe
Are You Aware Of The Nudges And Opportunities That Appear In Your Life?
It feels like a happy accident but it’s actually a nudge from the Universe. You read something that resonates, you have a conversation that sparks an idea, an idea seems to suddenly appear that answers a need you barely knew you had. Those are all nudges from the Universe and we need to listen.
I have made three major cross-country moves in my life and each one was such a clear choice to make that I never questioned it. I knew in an instant that I was going to move to New York. I knew in an instant that I was going to become a Reiki teacher. I knew in an instant that I was to move to California. I knew in an instant that I would become a spiritual practitioner in the Center for Spiritual Living. I knew in an instant that it was time to move back to the Kanas City area.
Sometimes I simply know that my role is changing but that’s all I know. That’s when you have to trust how it unfolds. You have to stay flexible and open to change.
Become more aware of the nudges and opportunities that appear in your life and learn to trust them.
===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===
Raise Your Sights and Your Expectations
Explore The Universe From Many Angles
Chris Brogan said that from an early age he wanted to “see the universe from many angles”. I love that concept.
Lately I have immersed myself in books on practical things like sound healing and intention and have now switched back to philosophical books, which are my favorites.
I started rereading Deng, Ming-Dao’s 365 Tao and I have an unexpected and growing list of article titles for my newsletter – concepts I want to figure out how to apply more consciously to my life and share with you. I want to reread the Tao Te Ching (Stephen Mitchell’s translation) and Rumi (Coleman Barks Translation) and get back to exploring and applying philosophical concepts from my present view of life which I can only hope has grown wiser with age.
I write to figure things out. I read a phrase and start thinking about how I would bring that into my life, how I would express it and live it. My curiosity takes me on great adventures and continues to broaden my view and raise my expectations. Turning to share what I learn clarifies it for me and hopefully seed plants the idea in the hearts of others.
How do you explore the universe from many different angles?
Honor Your Calling and Path
Don’t move off your path just because you’re capable of journeying in a new direction.
If you are interested in a variety of things, the temptation to explore can be rather demanding.
One never retires. We will continue to be called to serve and contribute and learn regardless of how old we are.
Keep walking. Keep exploring. Honor your calling and your path.
===OUR EVOLVING FUTURE===
Support and Encouragement for our Unfolding Role in the Future
Where Does Violence Come From?
Why does one person in the US decide he should kill a gay man dancing in the street with his friends? Why does a man shoot a noisy child? When did violence become ordinary? Donald Trump is using social media to threaten future jurors in his upcoming trial. They have not even been chosen yet.
I’m not talking about dictatorships in the world – As of 2020, there are 52 nations with a dictator or authoritarian regime ruling the country: Three in Latin America and South America, 27 in Asia and the Middle East, and 22 in Africa.
I’m talking about our neighbors. The guy next door with a different opinion who also owns a gun.
What do we do? How do we change the hate-filled energy?
I wrap myself in a transformative shield that not only protect me from the outside but helps to transform my fears and doubts and negative thoughts on the inside. I hope you’re going to do the same to protect yourself from the angry people.
Is it a fear of change? Is it a fear of being wrong? Is it a matter of feeling inferior, less than? It’s probably all of those things.
If I were doing it right, and if I had it in me, I would send love and compassion to those people with violence in their heart.
No one likes to feel they are wrong. How do you examine your thoughts and beliefs and actions to see if you are expansive enough and inclusive enough and thoughtful enough in your choices? What do you need to change about yourself in order to change the experience you are having in the world?
=== ===THE UNFOLDING DIVINE FEMININE=== ===
Explore and Interpret the Guidance and Messages of the Divine Feminine
A Woman Of Freedom And Self-Determination
“A woman of freedom and self-determination” is a phrase in a review of the Barbie movie which is setting box office records. I want to be certain I am that – “a woman of freedom and self-determination”.
I’m a little locked in on the physical plane as far as freedom goes but I sure am flying on the mental plane.
Both men and women should look closely at how indoctrinated they are in the perceived roles of men and women based on a patriarchal society. The women must be brave and adventurous and the men must give us room to fly.
We women must expect more of ourselves. We must raise our gaze and expand our vision. Look at your goals and expectations and see if they are high enough and then raise them even more. Begin to question the roles women play in parenthood – stay-at-home dads are certainly a blessing too. In particular, women must expect more of themselves. We must notice the women who are expressing themselves at high levels of participation. We must help our young girls expect more of themselves. And we must help our young boys not feel threatened by strong, powerful, capable women. We have some work to do.
Begin with yourself. What do you expect of yourself if you are a woman and what do you expect of a woman if you are a man? Can you expand those expectations? Can you raise your vision to include more possibilities? And can you do it without feeling diminished yourself?
Let’s make more room in our world for more women of freedom and self-determination.
===REFLECTIONS OF A DEEPER SONG PODCAST===
==== DEEPER SONG EXPLORATION ===
Check Your Foundation
I kept getting kicked off the Internet. I couldn’t get access to my email. I couldn’t get on Zoom to talk to my friends. I couldn’t get on the Internet at all and since my entire life is pretty much centered on online communication, I was not a happy camper because I don’t have control over the internet provider here in long-term care. A friend gave me access to a different provider and that has made all the difference. Not only do I always get online but there’s no messages on Zoom that say “Internet connection is unstable”.
That led me to think about my foundation. What am I building my life on and how is that working for deepening my connections in life.
How connected am I to my inner voice? How aware am I of the nudges of the universe that constantly show up in my day? Do I listen? Do I consider them? How strong and steady is your connection to the Universe?
===SING A DEEPER SONG ===
I listen. I listen with an open heart. I listen with an open mind. I stay still and I listen.
I listen. I listen with an open heart. I listen with an open mind. I stay still and I listen. Sometimes the signs are subtle. Sometimes a door flings open to present an entirely new view.
I listen. I listen with an open heart. I listen with an open mind. I stay still and I listen. Sometimes the signs are subtle. Sometimes a door flings open to present an entirely new view. I explore, I consider, I examine and take my next steps with clarity.
