The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!
After discovering that there are over 4,000 religions, faiths groups, and denominations that exist around the world today, I looked more closely at my own spiritual beliefs to see what they are based on. They are eclectic and have evolved over 90 years as I explored and embraced concepts that rested with me. I am still exploring today.
Here is the historical order of the top 6 major religions in the world!
- 2300 BCE to 1500 BCE – Hindu Dharma. Hinduism is the oldest and most complex of all established belief systems, with origins that date back more than 5000 years in India. There is no known prophet or single founder of Hinduism. A Hindu views the entire universe as God’s and everything in the universe as God. Hindus believe that each person is intrinsically divine and the purpose of life is to seek and recognize the divinity within all of us. The Hindu belief is totally non-exclusive and accepts all other faiths and religious paths. The birthplace of Hinduism is Indus River Valley which runs through northwest India into Pakistan. T
- 600 BCE to 500 BCE – Judaism. The most important teaching and tenet of Judaism is that there is one God, incorporeal and eternal, who wants all people to do what is just and merciful. All people are created in the image of God and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. This religion is rooted in the ancient near eastern region of Canaan (which today constitutes Israel and the Palestinian territories).
- 600 BCE to 400 BCE – Buddhism. Followers of Buddhism don’t acknowledge a supreme god or deity. They instead focus on achieving enlightenment—a state of inner peace and wisdom. When followers reach this spiritual echelon, they are said to have experienced nirvana. The religion’s founder, Buddha, is considered an extraordinary being, but not a god. Buddhism was founded in the north-eastern region of India in what is now Nepal
- 1st Century CE – Christianity. Christianity began in Judea in the present-day Middle East. Belief in God the Father, Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. The death, descent into hell, resurrection and ascension of Christ. The holiness of the Church and the communion of saints. Christ’s second coming, the Day of Judgement and salvation of the faithful. Christianity developed in Judea
- 7th Century CE – Islam. The belief that “There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God” is central to Islam. This phrase, written in Arabic, is often prominently featured in architecture and a range of objects, including the Qur’an, Islam’s holy book of divine revelations. Islam started in Mecca, in modern-day Saudi Arabia, during the time of the prophet Muhammad.
- 16th Century CE – Sikhi. Sikhism advocates equality, social justice, service to humanity, and tolerance for other religions. The essential message of Sikhism is spiritual devotion and reverence of God at all times while practicing the ideals of honesty, compassion, humility and generosity in everyday life. Sikhism, religion and philosophy was founded in the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent.
I’m drawn to Taoism.
Taoism (also called Daoism) is a Chinese religion that developed a bit after Confucianism, around two thousand years ago. In contrast to Confucianism, Taoism is mainly concerned with the spiritual elements of life, including the nature of the universe. Tao, the subtle reality of the universe cannot be described. That which can be described in words is merely a concept of mind.
Taoism can be translated into “The Way of Being Human” or “The Way of the Soul”. I like that.
Taoism teaches that all living creatures ought to live in a state of harmony with the universe, and the energy found in it. Ch’i, or qi, is the energy present in and guiding everything in the universe. So, unlike the major religions, it does not speak in terms of needing to return to Source, it says we are Source.
For me, that puts me (and you) right in the center of All-That-Is so all my searching for how to be more aware of being part of All-That-Is is not necessary, because I, we, are already an integral part of All-That-Is, The Tao (or Dao) – the way of the universe. There is no separation therefore there is no searching or seeking. What we do need to do is embrace that inclusiveness, that awareness of already being an integral aspect of the whole. For me, that means I get to stop striving to close a separateness that does not exist. We are One – one energy, one existence. That eliminates all searching and lets me settle into simply being. Can you experience yourself as living in a state of oneness with all things?
“You are not a drop in the ocean, you are the entire ocean in one drop.”
– Rumi, a 13th-century poet, Islamic scholar, and Sufi mystic
That is a huge and life-changing concept for me. It puts an end to all searching and seeking because I already am the ocean.
Can you experience yourself as the cosmic ocean? Can you experience yourself as Oneness? Find that part of you that can and deepen your experience of being “the entire ocean in one drop.”
Deeper Song Affirmation
I go deep within and lose my individuality in the experience of being Oneness.
Deeper Song Process
- In a quiet place allow yourself to go within and lose yourself in the ocean of oneness.
- What drops away?
- How does that empower you?
- What can you release and trust to simply unfold?
- Do more of that.
- “You are not a drop in the ocean, you are the entire ocean in one drop.” – Rumi
===INNER WORK===
Deepen Your Inner Awareness
Let Go
In Taoism when you realize that all things change, there is nothing you try to hold on to.
How freeing that is. Change is a constant so there is to be no effort to keep things as they are. Life truly becomes about going with the flow and trusting the outcome.
Stay in the present moment. Respond to what changes, the new opportunities that show up, what new choices you can make. Let go of how things are or should be and embrace things as they are.
Clarity Comes From Journaling
I journal every evening. I take time to reflect on the gifts and insights of the day. Sometimes my journaling is an acknowledgement of what I achieved or experienced, sometimes it is a reminder of what still needs to be done, sometimes it is just a time to reflect and be grateful.
Periodically I come across a past journal entry and it is interesting to see how my life has unfolded or how a particular choice worked out.
Take time to journal, to reflect, to see what has changed and what new doors have opened. Valuable clarity comes from journaling.
===SELF-HEALING===
Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself
Take Responsibility
No one can do it for you. It is all up to you. They can show you what to do but you have to do the work. It is your responsibility.
It’s not always easy to make yourself do things that are a little hard or challenging. But if we want the results, we have to do the work. So how do you encourage yourself?
I keep myself focused on what it would feel like to stand up straight and walk freely and effortlessly. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to do that but with the second hip surgery, I think I can recover it. What do you want to create in the physical realm for yourself and how do you go about achieving that?
===OUTER WORK===
Explore New Potential and Possibilities
Follow Your Calling
Because I have walked most of my life path alone, I have been free to follow my own calling throughout my life. I have been eclectic and spiritual and am always actively learning. And although I raised my granddaughter alone in New York and California, I have been the sole decision maker most of my life.
It is hard to follow your own path when you are in a relationship. There are compromises that must be made or could be made. What would you do on your own if you only had yourself to consider? How do you stay true to your own needs and calling while assisting others on their life path?
Take time to dream your own dream. If you had only yourself to consider, what would you do? What Grand Plan comes to mind that begins to honor your own needs? Make choices that help you keep walking on your own path.
===DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE===
Self-Healing Spiritual Practice and Deepening Awareness of Our Cosmic Oneness
Talk To Your Plants
I used to talk to my pets, they were good listeners. I no longer have a pet. I have plants and they’re good to talk to too.
Learn to hear their gentle messages. Feel their energy of patience and persistent growth and their innate serenity and bring it into your own life. What does patient persistance feel like?
Learn from their silent messages of encouragement and joy of living. Feel their energy of patience and serene growth and absorb that into your own life. What does patience feel like? How do you experience serene growth? Are you aware of the small changes and the quiet, gentle nudges of the universe that open new pathways of adventure and insight?
The tenacity of plants is inspiring. When you take a cutting below a node and put it in water the plant knows to send out small roots that can sustain the cutting until it has enough roots to be planted and grow into a fully grown plant. There is an energy of serenity and contentment in a plant we can learn to adopt. Listen, observe, grow and adapt, and let nature be your teacher.
===HOW TO BE A STRONG CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT BEARERS===
Expand Your Role in the Rapidly Evolving Universe
Be True To Your Gifts
I could not be a teacher of just one subject. I am too much of an explorer. I share what I learn in order to clarify it for myself. I bring into my life what resonates. Then I move on to something new. I write to figure things out for myself. Then I share it with you because I’m excited that I have figured it out.
Understand the form that your gift needs to take in order to be effectively and satisfactorily expressed and shared. Be true to your gifts as you share them.
===BROADEN YOUR HORIZON – EXPAND YOUR VIEW===
Raise Your Sights and Your Expectations
The Solar Eclipse And Change
Solar Eclipses are believed to bring karmic and fated events into our lives. They can open doors, create new pathways, and stir new thoughts and ideas. They are considered portals for new beginnings and can help push our lives in a direction we may not have seen coming.
The Lunar Eclipse/Full Moon is on October 28.
This is a good time to go within and listen to the insights and guidance of your Inner Voice. Meditate, journal, journey. Look for new doors that have opened, unusual ideas that formulate, unexpected nudges that appear. Know that is the Universe is guiding you and opening new doors and new pathways.

===CARA’S CORNER===
Patience And Unfolding
I need to make a new plan. I need to make some new choices. What do I want to learn next? What do I want to experience next?
I seem to be in limbo with no plans and no ambition. Is this a resting time? Is it a time for the incubation of a new idea or new path to explore?
It may simply be a time of stillness, of working to be content and patient with the unfolding of my “next”.
How will I recognize it? It will get me excited. It will stir my imagination. It will open the door to new experiences and expand my plan of service. Or it just may evolve nearly unnoticed.
I will journey for guidance and insights. I will watch for the unexpected nudges from the Universe. I have to be aware of the subtleties of change around me – a single thought, a small encounter that opens up a new possibility.
But meanwhile I sit in stillness, knowing I need to change but with no idea how. I have to trust. I have to be aware. I have to be patient.
How do you make room for your “next” to unfold?
===SING A DEEPER SONG ===
The Unfolding
I wait. I wait patiently. I wait expectedly. Change is coming. Change is needed.
I wait. I wait patiently. I wait expectedly. Change is coming. Change is needed. It may be a fleeting glimpse or a door thrown open but I must be aware and ready to respond.
I wait. I wait patiently. I wait expectedly. Change is coming. Change is needed. It may be a fleeting glimpse or a door thrown open but I must be aware and ready to respond. I eagerly await my new adventure.
