This Is A Time Of Change And Not Knowing
Living Our Deeper Song
And it’s kind of scary. On the news this week was the fact that AI could send false information that would mess with our election. That seems overwhelming and it makes me feel helpless.
So what role can I create for myself that makes me feel like I am participating and making a difference? What can I impact?
I have recently received several emails of appreciation from members of the Deeper Song Community that touched my heart and help me understand how I am in service and that I am on the right track.
Who would you like to acknowledge? I write people I do not know to thank them for some idea they shared that moved me forward. I will take more time to make certain I thank the people around me for the kindness they bring into my life. I will begin there.
You need to know what is yours to do and let the rest go. I can’t stop wars. I can’t stop evil in AI but I can work with the hearts of humans who are open to change. I started to write those who are capable of change – but we are all capable of it, we just have to have the desire and willpower and intention and make the choice.
The most impactful work is on yourself. What do you think? What do you focus on? What needs to change? We manifest what we believe is possible and what we believe we deserve.
Just because we can’t see how we can make it happen does not mean that it cannot. I don’t know how to stop wars but that doesn’t mean they won’t stop. I don’t know how to make people stop hating each other but that doesn’t mean they won’t change. So what is my role? What are my steps? How do I participate? What are the options laid out before you that are your pathway to create change in yourself and in the world?
I have an obligation and responsibility to help bring balance and love into all the world. It’s not my job alone. It is our job. It’s a big job but those of us who can picture and practice peaceful cohabitation and loving kindness must work to do so in order to bring it into being.
What are you focusing on? What is drawing your attention? What will you change in your beliefs and focus to help create a positive existence for us all?
We must do the work. We are the change-makers of the world. We must keep re-defining and expanding our role. This is a time of change and as Light Bearers we have work to do.
Deeper Song Affirmation
I am a powerful change-maker for our planet.
Deeper Song Process
- Accept that you are a powerful change-maker and are needed in this world.
- Develop your own role. How are you to participate in changing the energy of our planet and its people?
- Create a progress journal in which you write down what you are going to focus on, how you are going to focus on it and what are the changes you intend to manifest. Keep creating and adjusting to make your participation more powerful.

How To Accept What You Are Not To Be
There are various times in our lives that we need to take a reality check. We get to notice what is not going to happen. We get to notice what we cannot expect to happen. It’s not about giving up. It’s more about taking a reality check. Just because the signs are not there does not mean that the path is not going to open later.
What are the things you wish you had done that it will never be possible for you to do?
I’m never going to be a leader who changes lives through speaking and organizing but I will change some lives by writing and sharing.
We never know what small exchange can have a profound effect on the life of another. Or how the example of how we live our lives might inspire and motivate another.
I never had any long-term ambitions or goals. I am a spontaneous explorer. I pretty much let life unfold and responded in the moment and I am content. I’m content with who I am and what I’ve managed to do in my life. How are you going about releasing the dreams of what you will never get to be or do? What new dreams and goals are you allowing to unfold? Listen. And go adventuring.
What Did You Accomplish Today?
It is easy to come to the end of a day and wonder if you have done anything of value at all. That is the perfect time to pause and reflect.
Think of the people whose lives you touched by your presence. It could have been a smile exchanged in passing or a short interchange between the two of you. If your day flew by, you might have to look closely at the small moments of impact that you had.
You did have impact. You did make a difference. Pause and acknowledge what you accomplished.
Never Underestimate the Reach Of Your Light
Think back over your life at one small seemingly minuscule encouragement or exchange that totally changed your life. It could have come from a person. It should have come from a circumstance. It could have just been a wonderful nudge-thought from the universe. But it was instrumental in changing the trajectory of your life.
The boy who was to be the editor of my high school newspaper moved away his senior year and I got the job. It helped me discover what a good organizer I am. A television salesman suggested I write myself into the commercial and when I did, it opened up a whole new career path for me. A friend’s casual statement about being a rock as we walked across Central Park was life-changing for me. So we may never know when we are going to make a difference in someone’s life and when someone will make a difference in ours. But it’s good to pay attention so we notice them.
You never know how a positive response affects those around you. You never know how a small gesture is exactly what a person needs in order to have the courage to keep going. Sometimes it’s something you read. Sometimes it is as basic as the sun shining through the window to pause to appreciate all that you have.
I’m pretty sure many of those people who affected me in our casual exchange have no idea of how profoundly they changed my life. Just as I have no idea how my presence affected theirs.
Do not underestimate the impact you have in the world. Become more away of the small things you do that impact those around you. Be certain you impact the world is done in the manner that you want it to. Never underestimate the reach of your light and keep on shining.
How Do You Know When To Quit?
Sometimes there are things we are not meant to do. Sometimes there are things we are not to complete. Do you know when it’s time to quit?
Sometimes the Universe bops you on the had and takes an opportunity away from you. Sometimes it tosses you onto an entire unexpected path.
I was fired once. I quit jobs several times. Many times I have made instantaneous decisions to take action, particularly around the opportunity to learn something new.
We quit for several reasons. We quit because we have taken what we need from a learning situation. We quit because we have learned enough and are ready to move on to another level. We quit because something more interesting, more recent, more impactful takes its place. We quit because it is too hard. We quit because it is not leading us where we want to go.
It’s important to know when to let go, to quit, to move on. But it’s also important to know when not to quit.
What are the criteria you use to make the decision to quit and move on? Do you just let it fade away or do you make a conscious decision to quit and move forward?
What I think of as slow neglect is probably the most common and sneaky. Perhaps it is time to make a list of what nurtures you. Make certain your day is appropriately filled with those.
How do you need to rearrange your days and modify your choices to make your life experience nurturing and open for new opportunities for growth. How do you know what to quit and when?
Imagine Your Life Into Being
She is 16 and knows that she wants to be a nurse practitioner in pediatric oncology. She has begun her journey by interning here in my long-term-care facility.
I was lucky to get a college education, women had so little status in my early years. None of us had career dreams because we had no women role models ahead of us to light the way.
The young women of today are very lucky and they have a challenging path to lead, to balance a strong professional role with relationships and possible parenting.
It’s a bit tricky to imagine your life into being when you have no role models but it can be done. What doors do you want to fling open and go through and how will you imagine your life into being?
The Power Of Gratitude
“The event that Americans commonly call the “first Thanksgiving” was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in November 1621. This feast lasted three days and was attended by 90 Native American Wampanoag people and 53 survivors of the Mayflower (Pilgrims).” (Google)
This might be a good time to pause and give gratitude not for what you have but for who you are. Kind. Giving. Supportive. Generous. Smart. Creative. Curious. Funny. Thoughtful. Quiet. Gentle. Enthusiastic. Contemplative. Loving.
Take a moment to write down how you show up in the world and offer gratitude for the amazing person you are!

I Thought It Was Depression
I have never been depressed in my life but I felt like I was experiencing it. It went on for a week. Then my therapist recognized it as grief and it suddenly made huge sense. It was also very empowering because I know steps to release grief. My grief was over a changed relationship with one of my children.
What are the relationships in your life that did not work out well? Can you look back and understand why? Perhaps you had expectations that would never be filled. That could be in the form of expectations for yourself and expectations you held for another person. I have expectations that will never be brought into being. I had to let them go and I grieved.
Be patient with your times of change. Let them unfold and gently explore and modify your responses. Let your awareness unfold and take time to explore its potential.

I Disappear Into Wholeness
The sun on my shoulders reminds me to stop – to take a deep breath, quiet my mind and become present in nature.
The sun on my shoulders reminds me to stop – to take a deep breath, quiet my mind and become present in nature. Its message is patience and stillness and simply being present.
