Where Do You Go For Help?
Insights of a Deeper Song
Ashe
(“Ah-Shay”)
The Creative in me honors the Creative in you!
You may not agree with this.
When I was in college, I was at an event talking to a former priest. I asked him, “If you believe that God is within you, where do you go when you get int trouble?” He said, “You go deeper within and pull yourself up by your outstrips.”
That led me to a very long life of relying solely on my self.
There are times when I wish I could say, “Please God, fix this, help me to….” But I personally cannot do that. My belief system is that we are all one whole vibrational energy and I am responsible for finding the answers and the actions within myself. There is no “there”, only “here”. Ther is me as an expression of wholeness, me as an expression of light vibration. Change comes from within.
As I watch the blatant display of wrong-doing in the US leadership, both immoral acts of doing and the immoral acts of ignoring, I wish some higher power could explain it to me, and even fix it. But that’s not in my belief system. This is a collective consciousness that is manifesting. I have to elevate my own role and know that others are doing the same. Together we can manifest positive change – at least for those who are looking to change. to rate heir vibration to raise the group consciousness.
I go back to what I think. What I expect. What I focus on. I feel tremendous relief at the powerful, thoughtful, intelligent speeches that I have heard in the Democratic Convention. It’s like an oasis of sanity and I have seeped myself in it. It is positive, incisive, and hopeful. Just as I strive to be.
And I only have one vote. The fate of my nation is made up of a collective. And if I could pray, I would pray that we save our democracy.
But I can’t pray to an “outside” source because Source is within me, just as it is within you. So here we sit, powerful, individual, contemplative containers of Source doing what? How do we help restore balance, raise the vibration, bring thoughtful, incisive people into leadership?
It’s a very, very, very big job. It is a job for the collective, for those of us who are aware of the collective consciousness and its power to manifest change.
Our power is in the collective, the combined focus of our intention on an outcome for the highest good for all.
How do I do that, sitting here in my mid-western apartment? How do I help change the world? How do you?
W focus on what we want. We want inclusion, compassion, kindness, food security, safety security, income security, peaceful coexistence. Those are all human things we need.
But we have to go deeper. We have to go down to our bootstraps and pull ourselves up. Up from anger and despair in order to focus on the positive, peaceful, compassionate coexistence we wish to create. Up from fear into active small steps that secure our own well being as well as that of others. We have to move into our heart and experience our deep contention with Tao – All That Is. And when we begin to resonate with that higher vibration, we need to stay there, in Oneness, filing our minds and emotions and thoughts with the reassurance of our Ones, of everything and everyone being all one energy. And from that place, we can intentionally send balancing energy to the turbulent downdrafts, the rough water, the lower energy.
We have great power as a collective. And there may be opposing “collectives” – one focused on raising our vibration, one focused on staying put in a lower vibraiotn. We seek our own level. We go high. We cultivate a spiritual life that encourages us to pause, and breathe and be – in gratitude, in awareness, in a conscious choice to raise our vibration even higher.
We can do make a difference. It all takes place within.

BALANCE YOUR ENTHUSIASM
Boy, do I get carried away with new ideas. I was given an idea by a friend, it appealed to me, I wrote a landing page the next day and then – with a mindful pause, I realized it is not a widely impactful use of my time. But I sure did get excited about the idea.
We do get to listen to our inner voice, this nudges that take us adventuring, but we also have to know our bottom line – our personal measuring stick.
This idea was for a 1:1 session I could offer. I even figured out what to call it and how to structure it. But my work now is to reach more people so I just need to continue to expand my ideas in my podcasts.
But it sure was exciting to consider. Until my reality check of who I want to sere ad how I want to serve and where I have the most impact. Don’t get pulled off track. Explore your options but stay true to your core purpose.

HOW THOUGHTFULLY ARE YOU CREATING YOUR FUTERE ?
In a recent journey, I got “There is no future yet, you are in the process of creating it.”
That means I have power. you have power, we have collective power. We can influence the future by the next step we take. By the direction we go next upon our path.
I stand on my path and look around me. I have a choice of directions, to one side or the other, straight ahead or to the let of to the right. So many choices that will influence where I aim going, what my life is to be. And I have to choose. I have to take my next step. See where I am and take another step.
I make the choice from a place of centeredness and mindfulness and an open heart.
When I look around I see that my choices have shifted some, the paths seem lighter, more filled with light and growth. When your choice of path is aligned with your heart and your purpose, your path becomes filled with opportunity.
So many choices, so many opportunities.
I close my eyes and go deep within.
“Look around you, thoughtfully, carefully, with insight and awareness.” my inner voice says.
I stand and look around at where I am, what strengths I have to help me move ahead. And I take a step. Forward. One step. And the view changes. New pathways have open up with that one step, the path seems clearer, the sky overhead seems brighter, the clouds have shapeshifted into meaningful new patterns of encouragement. With one step my view has changed.
With one step I have changed my future.
Take each step with thoughtful awarenss. It is creating your destiny.

THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF A TREE
My friend, Maratha Lacy, bought some property in Colorado, and in order to build on it, some trees have to come down. She is sad about that so she took a shamanic journey to the trees on that land and learned that they have a “hive” mentality – they know that some of them must be removed for the overall health of the whole. Now Martha will probably turn some of that wood into walking sticks and native flutes and ceremonial fires but only a very small portion. The rest will go to the lumber yard to be made into other useful items. The trees will go on serving.
What an interesting idea – a hive mentality – living your life for the well-being of the whole.
We get to think about that.

WAHT DRUM TRACK DO YOU CHOOSE FOR YOUR DAY?
I recently began playing my flutes to drum tracks and it is extraordinarily freeing and creative. The steady rhythm becomes a foundation from which you soar and return.
And I wondered if I needed to choose a drum beat for my day. What would that look like? How would I do that? What would it shift?
I can see different rhythms to my day. The most cherished is my creative time when I first sit at my desk. I literally tune in and see what I want to work on – I know it needs to be creative. That seems to be a period of Deep Listening. When I write I listen to the voice within. So it is a receptive time, a contemplative time. It has a specific rhythm. I seem to set that rhythm with my intention to listen and write what I discover. I deliberately choose the drumbeat of that experience.
I choose other rhythms when I feel productive. A deep inner rhythm appears as I record and a receptive rhythm is there when as I edit a podcast. Y our rhythm changes with the task. There is a determination underneath those rhythms, it is a rhythm of steady progress that contains an energy of excitement at getting things ready to share.
My cat cuddle time has its own rhythm. It is slow and contemplative and full of love and companionship.
If I would make room for it, my meal preparation and eating has its own rhythm too.
I know there are more nuances to the rhythm of my day. Perhaps I simply need to listen to the changes and dance to a new tune.

SELF RESPONSIBILITY
I have to admit that I’m an “easy sell” but I was inspired by David Crow’s talk on the Plant Medicine Summit. The purpose of our life is our spiritual fulfillment and we need our body to do that.
Whether it is the use of herbs in our food or for our medicines, or the movement of Qi in our body though moment and breath, we are responsible for our own body home – its health and its availability to our spiritual expansion.
I could do better.
I became a Certified Bach Flower Counselor in the 80’s. The first year Dr Richard Bach used the remedies, he treated every patient with only seven essences. Whatever they had out of balance, he used only seven flower essences.
I still have my original set of remedies and my training notes. I could revisit those.
Since then people have been making other combinations of flow essences. I was in a very early class and the teacher was adamant that Dr. Bach deliberately destroyed his work on many plants to only focus on the particular essences he eventually chose to work with.
Do I cling to the old or explore the new? I’m thinking here. It’s a good idea to You keep Bach Rescue Remedy around for you and your pets and any sudden trauma.
I have a good-sized collection of essential oils. I have a diffuser in my home that I use daily, I have begun to wear my necklace diffuser again, but my study on their uses could be improved. I could go exploring again.
There is a process of muscle testing I still use. Kinesiology. I was first shown it in NYC. I was told to hold my arm out in resistance and the practitioner pressed down hard on it. It held steady. Then he put a package of sugar in my relaxed hand and pressed on my resisting arm again – It collapsed.
The body knows.
When it was time to order vitamins again I compared the natural sources in two versions. I know to take B12 beaus I’m a vegan and do not eat the food sources that naturally continue it.
But here’s where I am with this. I’m going to talk to my body more I’m going to do more muscle testing on things I choose to eat. Or use my pendulum to dowse the answer. I’m going to monitor the spices and foods I choose and see what nutrients and vitamins they are giving me so I can tell what my body needs. I do listen to what my intuition says to eat. I do buy all organic food. I recently added recently spirulina. Not even sure why- figured the ocean has lots to GIA,
My herbal teas are healing plants. Yerba Mate and Oolong in Chamomile tea every night to prepare for sleep.
Spices are a powerful way to consume healing herbs. Do some research around the spices you like and be aware of how you use them for your health. I use turmeric and Bagg’s Apples cider vintager and lemon every day. I will do more research on the power of herbs.
I’m cooking more for myself so I can make soups I love, and find spices that resonate with me.
The job we have is to stay healthy. We do that through food and rest and movement and a strong spiritual practice.
The message I got is to listen. To listen to the messages of the food, of my body of the energy around me, of the choices I make. The answers are al there. Are you listening?
How are you balancing your body? What will you change?

OUR EVOLVING FUTURE
All change comes from within It is a consciousness – a raised awareness, perhaps even a decision to change, to see things differently, to act differently.
Not everyone is going to be able to do that. So those of us who can have to get busy.
Sometimes it’s more about our belief system than our actions Belief that it can change, a vision of how it how that change might evolve and manifest.
I have to believe that everyone who is here on earth came here by choice knowing they would have to move through certain patterns of life in order to expand their evolving soul. In other words. we chose what lessons we would learn, what opportunities ti explore n we would be given.
We each have that core responsibility, to live our human life with the most integrity and consciences awareness we can manage.
How are you doing?

DEEPEN YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE
THE POWER OF INTENTION
My flute class has ended and there are more uses to explore. For instance, I want to use my flutes specifically for healing. This week I realized that each note corresponds to a chakra and with intention I can focus energy to each of my chakras in turn. I have added that sequence of notes to my daily practice.
Intention is very powerful. It means “purpose, goal, target.” It’s like aiming your arrow at the center of the target. The more focused you are the more accurate is your aim.
It’s also interesting to have a broad intention. My broad intention may be to clean my home, my specific intention will be to wash my crystals. I want to talk to you about broad intentions.
My broad intention is to add more focused moments to my day. Cal them meditation, ritual, ceremony, affirmations – I wan to create some form of intentional focus that brings me a greater connection to my inner self. An action that stills my mind. I will use my breath to still m body. To bring me into a deeper awareness of what I feel and what I want and what I need. A pause to reflect – that’s where I begin – a pause to notice, to check me out, to see where I am and what I need/want to do next. A checkpoint. A reflective pause.
And from that still place I can reset my intention – to work with deeper awareness, to perform a certain task, to pause to take deep centering breaths. It’s the pause that holds the magic, the pause in which you move within to evaluate where you are, and set a new intention for how you want your “next” to unfold.
My intention was to record three podcasts this week My intention was to offer them from my heart with clarity and passion. My intention was to have my words and thoughts and ideas move into a positive experience for those who listen.
That’s a lot of intention-setting for one action. But I did it and recording was a lovely experience.
Give some thought to why you are doing something. See what intention you can place around it. I might add some Qi Gong and the intention is to not just strengthen and make my body stronger and more flexible, my intention can be to support me in all the inserting things I continue to do.
Perhaps set both a specific intention and a broad intention.
Use the power of intention to focus your experiences throughout your day.

WHAT IS HEAING?
Healing is to “bring back something that is missing”. When I heard that this week it made me think. Healing is about bringing back balance. It is about restoring to wholeness. It is about helping every aspect of our bodies and emotions align in order to realize their full potential.
So what does that look like?
I recently had a most amazing healing from my friend Christina Gerber. My right pelvis has been tilted. I have no idea when it happened or why. In a healing journey, Christina removed a blockage (a spear actually). I was surprised when I felt both sadness and grief as I let that blockage go.
The muscles of my right hip that had been allowed to reposition themselves were very grouchy the next day as they began to work in a new way.
But a few days later, as the right hip began to get stronger and straighter, my left hip got all grouchy because it was being asked to operate in a new way, a more aligned way. And it had to strengthen some muscles that had been out of use or used differently.
Healing is about bringing back something that is missing. Balance that was missing. Alignment that was missing.
The other shift that has occurred is that structurally I am able to stand up stagier and that aligns my spine and my neck and yes, activates some muscle there in a new way.
All of this happened because a blockage was removed and my body was able to return to its more aligned position.
Healing is about bringing back something that is missing.
What is missing in your life? In your body? What do you need to bring back or realign in order to heal? Do that.

THE REFLECTING POOL
“Do not follow where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
This is particularly good advice in today’s rapidly chaining word. In one sense we are each being asked to create our own unique path. It’s actually very freeing. You get to look at your unique gifts and how you love to use them. Then you look for how you want to share them, who you want to reach. And you go exploring to find your new unique place of service, your new unique offering. You explore your own path and leave a trail…

CARA’S CORNER
DO YOU NEED NEW FRIENDS?
Look closely at the people you spend time with. Look closely at how you have changed. Do you need new friends?
The choice of friends may be even more important in this time of unusual circumstances. Not everyone is going to be able to rise to this challenge. You have a choice depending on what you need – to help those who are faltering or seek out this who can pull you up. Look closely at what you need to support your own journey and chose friends whose presence and interaction will help you do that.
All my friends are spiritual but they are also uniquely specialized. As they express themselves and choose their direction, I see that our paths are parallel, they are adjacent, but they are distinctly different. And that is a good thing. None of my friends are holding me back. None of my friends are pulling me forward too rapidly, or in a direction I don’t want to go. We really are strong, independent souls, walking solidly in our own path, shining light as we go, and opening up new ideas and possibilities for each other.
Who is in your tribe? Are you a group of explorers? Light Bearers? Guides?
As you change, you will have to leave some friends behind. They may not choose to keep up or they may choose to go in a different direction. Know that. Notice that. And let them go.
When we are true to our own calling we continue to change so it makes sense that we will interact with someone for a while and then part ways and move off into our own individual journeys.
Look at who you spend time with and see if you are still nurturing each other and helping each other expand and explore. Or see if you have outgrown each other. Life is about learning. And that means new paths and new adventures. Travel with those who are going in the same direction you are – until it is organically time to part ways and follow your own path.

A DEEPER SONG
“In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. Your friend is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving. Let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.” – Kahlil Gibran
Keep singing a deeper song.

Cara
